So the news was broken at Engadget Mobile earlier. Skyfire is a new web browser for Windows Mobile 5 and 6 devices. Smartphone or Touchscreen, it can do video, multimedia, etc. YouTube without hacks, and much more. I'm totally excited and would LOVE a copy, but for now (without a code at least), all you can do is sign up to be on a waiting list for the beta. Don't suppose anyone snagged a copy yet, did you? |

Note that installing flash doesn't give PocketIE java support. If the site uses Flash only, it'll play in IE. But if the site uses Java and Flash, then you'll have to use Opera Mobile. (not opera mini) Appreciate the help. As an update, I did install Opera Mobile yesterday. And after telling the browser to look like a desktop pc, I was able to get YouTube to come up. The video I choose may have been too big, because it never did play... it just spun as if loading. And when I tried to close Opera, it seemed to lock the phone so I pulled the battery. Now when I went to stream my local sports radio station (found at KJRam.com), I was able to get past the errors about the browser not supporting the javascript. But when Windows Mobile Player started, I get a memory address type error, and every retry showed the same problem. Not sure what I can do about that, since Windows Media Player is REQUIRED to stream this broadcast, at least according to the KJR website. Though it MAY have said something about mplayer running it... maybe that's something I need to look into, if there is a version for Smartphones (and not just Linux). |

Thank you Chad!!! Did this install today hoping to be able to listen to a local AM sports station over my Blackjack II. They require Flash, Java, and possibly ActiveX to get their "stream" running in Windows Media Player. Completed all the instructions, including using the program you mentioned to install the reg file to the device, and it seemed to go without a hitch. I do have just one snag I'm trying to figure out. I went to the YouTube main site, found a video I wanted to watch, and the page comes up with the following error where the video should be... "Hello, you either have Javascript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player." And then there is the usual link to download the latest Flash player. Did I do something wrong? I did do the device install as you suggest, registered the file as instructed, copied over the new flash.dll. Any help is appreciated!!! And thanks to Salando for the SYMB key note. I'd been trying to do Fn on it, and couldn't figure it out! |

How'd you get it to work when I tried installing it said it wasn't compatible with my device. Even Handango said it wasn't compatible. Well, if it's not installing your trying to use the Pocket PC version on a Smartphone. I can promise you after purchasing the Voice Command 1.6 software from Handango, specifically the "Smartphone Only" version... it worked first try. If your having trouble finding that version, go to MS website for Voice Command 1.6, and follow the purchase link for Smartphones. That's what I did, and using a coupon code I found through Yahoo... I saved 20% off my order. Best wishes! |

So does MS Voice Command run pretty much "instantaneously" when you hit a button to run it? If so, I guess that's my next fix for my Blackjack II. Well, being impatient and having LOTS to do next week... I decided to break down and get Voice Command. I've known it to be a good product in the past, and I had faith that with the right version I should be ok. Well, it's just awesome! I'm able to voice dial nearly every call first try. There is no delay like with the other apps waiting for them to load. And I can control most applications on my phone, including Media Player! I created a shortcut to the app with Fn-P. That's one of the easiest combinations to hit while being forced to HOLD the Fn key, and it couldn't work much better. Though obviously I can just use the shortcut at the top of the today screen, or find the program under the Start button if I really feel like it. Overall, I'd say this is a MUST get. And with 20% off coupons online for Handango, I was able to get the "extra year" of redownloading the app for under $40. Totally worth it IMHO. Now go get Voice Commander 1.6 for SMARTPHONES and really get control of your phone!!! |

Topic pretty much says it all. I've used MS Voice Command in the past, and I'm interested in 1.6. But there is no "demo", and if it performs anywhere near as badly as Vito Voice Dialer did... I definately want to try it first. Vito would take maybe 10 seconds to load, and THEN wait for me to speak a name. If you don't start fast enough once you realize it's going, you miss it. And the graphics aren't exactly pretty. So does MS Voice Command run pretty much "instantaneously" when you hit a button to run it? If so, I guess that's my next fix for my Blackjack II. |

The EQ is ok, but I'd much rather have my Album Art like I do on my PC. |

So I should be in bed, but I just found these forums and wanna get one question out of the way. Had a Cingular 8525 for about 16 months. Loved the device, but it failed on Christmas and I just got a Blackjack II to replace it. Used iGuidance and a BT receiver for driving directions when I travel, etc. Made business trips and other travel a breeze. But the Smartphone doesn't have a touchscreen, and that makes iGuidance a no go. Google Maps looks great, especially with the traffic info, but I don't see where it does turn-by-turn directions. I've read a little bit about Garmin Mobile XT, and I already have a 6GB MicroSD from my previous phone. Is that all I need to get things setup? Any instructions for putting Mobile XT on a larger memory card are appreciated. |
