My settings are in the quote below. One idea is that youre overclocking too much. Yeah I find the phone to be very unstable outside of the stock 252 setting which is disappointing. But some of the games work fine with that speed but the sound is still a bit wonky...Ah well, it's not perfect but my friends are still impressed |

Ok... So after playing with it more I think I figured it out. It may not be 100% correct, but I added the .wav file to the ApplicationData/Sounds folder, then synced the phone and the wav file appeared in my options. There may be an easier way but I did get it to work You can also do this through the registry if you have a nonstandard file type like .aiff. Use a mobile registry editor and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER ControlPanel Sounds SMS Change the Sound String to whatever file you want just make sure to type out the entire path like: \My Documents\My Sounds\Super_Mario_Coin.mp3 You can change many sounds here. |

Hey Athenon I'm getting some issues with Lockups and sound not working and then working and some games not loading etc. So what I'd like you to do is post all of your settings including your overclock speed just so I can get an idea where to start. Landscape or Portrait... Frame Skip Setting Sound checkboxesand bitrate as well as quality tick mark setting. Overclock speed. Anyone who has it working perfectly can post this I just need to make sure I'm not missing something. |

Short of taking it apart I dont see any other solution. I used to take my Nokia phones apart and give them a clean out....used a fine soft bristle toothbrush to clean the keyboard sections out and a lint free cloth to clean the inside screen and the LCD display. I would suggest that it would be the same for the BJII but you would have to remove the screws holding it together..this would no doubt void all warranties and render the device un-fixable in the event of it dying. I dont expect any high res shots of the internal parts of the phone in until next year LOL..when the 1 year warranty runs out. I could open mine and have a look...I have no warranty as I am overseas and purchased from U.S.A...... Open that bastard up and take some pics! |

Uhm, well, kbit is different than kbyte. Frequently bandwidth is described in kbit instead of kbyte for whatever reason, but conversion isn't too bad... And how they tell? Well, AFAIK, they have no way of determining if you're tethering or not aside from how much you use the data. They could monitor your connections very closely, but I don't believe they'll really be doing that. Just don't tether too much. If you plan on tethering alot, you'll have to fork over the extra cash. Depending upon what the device reports to the service provider they could determine how data was flowing through the device. If for example data was going out from the phone to the laptop it all depends upon if they are able to see that. /shrug I don't know how much they can see but you might be able to make an argument about what you do with the data once it reaches the phone. |

Hi folks, Any idea how I can stop reminders from going off every day at 6:00 a.m. The phone is set to alarm at 7:00 but reminders for all-day events are going off much earlier. I seem to recall a 'business day begins/ends' definition somewhere but can't recall where I found it. Thoughts? My wife is ready to throw either me or the phone out of the bedroom at this point. She's NOT a morning person :-) If you made sure it wasn't set to an all day event and gave it a solid beginning and end time that would resolve the issue wouldn't it? |

I made this custom screen tonight...It's based directly on the original Facade layout. But if ya wanna use it here ya go! Just place both the .xml and folder in you Application Data/Home directory. Chad Can you clean up your archive and repost. The jpgs are fine but not the gif or the xml files. |

I was hoping we could figure out how to get a new animation and sound in there, after you remove the startup dll in the registry it just displays 3 default images (I edited the post above) I looked for registry entries that I thought might control these things however I can't find anything on it. I posted this question at xda as well. If we can figure out startup we can figure out shutdown as well. Meh it may not be worth it to some but I'd like my phone to be as customizeable as possible |

Thought I'd add a clarification on this tip based on some of my own tweaking. The value to delete will be called "Dll". If you delete that value, then the video is replaced with a default graphic logo. Muahahahah I used this to get my picture to shimmy in there, that default graphic logo is called carrier_splash.png. If you have a 320x320 png you can replace that file and make: ![]() Look Like: ![]() You can also change ms_splash.png: ![]() Unfortunately this takes out any sound or video options on start up. I hope we have a more viable option soon. *Edit* Ok after reviewing this there are three pictures inexplicably showing up, the original ms_splash.png (Located somewhere else other than the windows folder) then I get my picture which I had to name ms_splash.jpg to get it to work (Which is located above and third I get the carrier_splash.png picture.shows up first for a few seconds then you get the |

The blackjack II (possibly all WM6 devices) uses a DLL file, not an image. The other image is going to be real difficult to change without reflashing the device. So if you want a custom startup anim, you'd have to compile it to a dll, which is not going to be easy because, afaik, it's not yet been determine how it's compiled on the BJII. Well the dll file itself refers to that file. If I'm talking about the standard windows mobile 6 file. If we can figure out how to bypass the permissions and change that file the dll file won't care that the file itself has changed. I'm not interested as much in the animation just yet, that may come later. Besides if we can change the .png file we should be able to also change the animation because there again the dll file refers to those files right? If I'm wrong feel free to bitch slap me sir. |

5) Copy regsvrce.exe from the fodler “Step 4 - regserv” to your Smartphone and run it. Enter \Windows\Macromedia\flash.dll as the full pathname. This will register “.swf” under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT in the registry of your Smartphone. You should get a prompt for Ok and then Yes later on. on a blackjackII where the heck is the "" \ "" button all i see is "" / "" ..(a) button i went ahead and just used the (a) /slash but it didnt seem to work EDIT_______________________________ nevermind i figured it out HOLD down the sym space key untill all symbols show on screen.. Thought I'd add a clarification on this tip based on some of my own tweaking. The value to delete will be called "Dll". If you delete that value, then the video is replaced with a default graphic logo. Annoyingly, during Startup the logo is displayed for a rather long time so getting rid of the video doesn't do much for you. However, if instead of deleting the Startup "Dll" value, you edit the Startup "Dll" value and delete the Value data, then no logo is displayed and the phone starts up much more quickly. The Windows Mobile graphic continues to display. Note, that only applies to the Startup registry key. In the Shutdown key, if you delete the Value data from the "Dll" value, it causes a bit of funky behavior. Notably, there is no indication whatsoever (not even the Windows Mobile graphic) that the phone is powering off. It appears as if the phone locked up and is unresponsive, but if you wait it does shut down just fine. No lasting harm occurs; if it bothers you, then you can always go back and delete the "Dll" value entirely. So, to get the best of both worlds, here's what I would recommend: 1. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>>System>>Startup>>1 2. View the Values (Note: I use RegEditSTG, for other Registry editors this may not be necessary) 3. Edit the "Dll" Value and clear the "Value data" field 4. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>>System>>Shutdown>>1 5. View the Values (see note on Step 2.) 6. Delete the "Dll" value entirely Cheers, This is a great tip but what if you just wanted to change your splash screen. I've looked everywhere and tried different methods. I've tried copying the files directly (ms_splash.png) with no luck, even when I remove the file permissions it seems to still be locked down somewhere so a direct file copy isn't working for me. I've also tried some registry additions including Registry keys with value splash, image, etc. in (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>>System>>Startup>>1). Could you expand upon your genius and take a look at this for me? |

I came across this and thought I'd share the knowledge... 1) Download SPFlashHack here (http://www.winmobiletech.com/072007SPWebBrowsers/SPFlashHack.rar) and extract the contents to a folder on your desktop 2) Use a free registry editor and import the All.reg from folder “Step 1 - Registry import” into the registry 3) Goto the Root Directory of the Smartphone from Explorer and copy the folder named Windows from the folder called “Step 2 - Windows directory copy” in the RAR file 4) Copy flash.dll from the folder “Step 3 - flash6″ on desktop to \Windows\Macromedia on the Smartphone and overwrite it. 6) Copy flash.dll from folder “Step 5 - Flash7″ to \Windows\Macromedia and overwrite it. It's a little involved, but works well. I couldn't get the Storage card install to work, but the device install is all good! Source: http://thinkabdul.com/2007/07/25/download-...-on-smartphone/ Cheers All! Chad Youtube Mobile wasn't good enough for you eh? |

Mine makes no noise unless I press so hard that it makes the wheel more work to use then just pressing the button. And even then, it's so quiet a sound, it's not really noticeable. This is with the default settings - wheels sounds off. Same with me, at first I thought I wasn't going to like it (Due to it being so loose) but I use it all the time. It's completely silent though by default. |

Alright, so I picked up a BlackJack II today since I grew quite fond of my first BlackJack. Anyway I am quite confused on the GPS capabilites with this phone. I have read that the GPS in the phone is locked down so that ONLY TeleNav can be used and Google Maps, etc CANT be used. Aparently there is a hack that fixes this... HOWEVER, I read that others dont havent any issues at all and that out of the box the GPS works with Google Maps, etc. Can someone confirm this? Whats the point of this hack then? Next, I have read that the SDA Application Unlock can unlock this phone. Is this true? My wife had just ended her contract with Cingular and I would have called them to get the unlock code but now I am out of luck going that route. Or is there another method? I am traveling to Isreal in Feb and want to be able to take my phone with me without having to get a cheap ass Israel phone. First, all of that can be answered by the various posts on this site so get to reading http://www.modaco.com/content/Smartphone-S...-GPS-ACTIVATED/ I had to use it to activate the com4 option. The integrated option seems to be locked down on my phone however after both installing that GPS activation hack and using GPStest to get it the gps running in the background all of my apps work wonderfully. Your mileage will vary of course but don't give up. Try going outside after installing the hack and the GPStest app to get your first satellite signal. That may help. |

QUOTE Maybe someone adept at programming for WM can whip up a little app that uses minimal resources and simply runs in the background and maintains a GPS connection, so its "always on". Discuss viability... -shrug- Anxiously waiting for this app! :-P GPSTest does exactly that. After a couple of minutes aquiring the GPS information it stays resident in the background. This allows all of my apps to pick up a gps signal instantaneously. If you haven't gotten it...it's here: http://classic.pocketgear.com/software_det...p;associateid=9 Just hit the .exe with activesync open and it fires up on the phone. Then create a startup lnk and you are good to go! |

bigneeker, I agree its a pain to use 3 buttons to unlock - here's something that makes it easier - its still 3 buttons, but you do not need to use the Power button to begin the unlocking process. You can also start by pressing the 1 or 9 key to wake the device so instead of Power (which is on top), Unlock and then *, you can now do 1, Unlock and * - still 3 buttons, but they are closer to each other. Hope that helps Tarun I found this very helpful, this is a great tip. |

does anyone have any thoughts on how to use mp3s for notifications? The system sounds don't immediately list all of your mp3s as choices even if everything IS in the sounds folder. I did these with registry edits. Now I can play anything from .mp3-.aiff files as my email notifications, sms notifications etc... My email notification is the final fantasy victory sound lols. Here's the registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\ Just go into E-mail or IM and change the Sound String to the path of the file: \My Documents\My Sounds\BlahBlahBlah.aiff \My Documents\My Sounds\BlahBlahBlah.mp3 |

jpwoof, thanks for the suggestion, but that doesn't exactly acheive what I'm aiming for. Your suggestion simply removes the SMS tone. I just want to be able to hit a button while the alert is playing to silence it (for example, I don't want to look like a moron in a meeting not able to silence his ringing phone. I ran into this same problem and could only get it to NOT play a sound was when I went into the main IM screen whre it says Select your IM service: (This was achieved by hitting menu and then back a couple of times.) Then, once you have you IM network of choice highlighted just hit menu and then settings and uncheck the box that says Sound Notification. I was going crazy trying to figure this out because I was in a restaurant getting sounds over and over even after turning the phone on silent lol. I hope this helps. This also may not be what you are looking for though |
