Nickelburn, are you using a Motorola Q9H by any chance? Because that's a Q9H specific issue (garbled screen) if that's the case. And what version of Pocketsnes is everyone using? Masterall's? Ver. number.

I had the same problem with my Q9M untill I bought an 1850 mah extended battery.Makes the phone a little fatter but it also makses a HUGE improvement on battery life.It also helps if you configure messaging to not auto check for new messages. It kills the battery.Adjust your backlight and screen time out settings also. And if you aren't going to be using an app (such as IE running in the background),kill it.Apps running while not being used waste battery life..Emulators I know of.These are ones I know work on the Moto Q.Picodrive for Genesis. You can get that here. Also GBAACE and Pocket GBA.Ace can also be DL'd here. Its still in it's early stages. Not sure if Pocket GBA runs on the Q.For Atari 2600 there's Stella. The others I'm not sure about.I know there's a Master System emulator.Wait a sec,I believe Smartgear does Master System alng with TG16 and others. It's a multi system emulator. That one is a commercial product so you'll have to pay to use it fully. It's a full working demo which allows 2 minutes of use per game...I was looking for a Colecovision emulator but no luck.Only one I know of is Colem (for Symbian) and Pocket Coleco but that one only works on PPC 2003.If you know of one please do tell....hope this helps

All I have to say is "OMG" .The utter lack of activity in the Moto Q section of Modaco since Feb of this year is insane.Maybe Moto Q users prefer HelloMotoQ or EvrythingQ.com for their daily needs.I know this is more of an HTC board, but man 5 or 6 topics in over 4 months.Wow man

Update - I'm going to take a wild guess that this issue is not resolvable. The Moto Q series phones are notoriously bad for this and it appears it's a hardware issue. The only files linked to audio compression in the registry are GSM610 and MSG711 which are both codecs for cellular voice calls.Registry keys of any relevence HKLM/AudioCompressionManager/DriverCache/msacm.msg711 - Keys : aFormatTagCache = Hex data - : cFilterTags = DWORD = 0 - : cFormatTags = DWORD = 3 - : fdwSupport = DWORD = 1 ..Those values don't control bitrate or quality. And is most likely preset in msg711.dll ..Of course if any one comes across any key values or settings related to audio codecs or other info on recording quality, dll hacks etc,3rd part programs etc ,please do post about them.Otherwise,I'm just going to see what I can find on the market as far as a new PPC goes , when the time comes.

Yes....nuisances.And bugs..lots of them.On my Q9M.Such as - You go to send an mms message and allmost 3 seconds later a message pops up saying "Could not send all messages" and thus you have to push "Send/Receive" to make it send. And of course it sends right away.So why in the world does it do this? It does it quite often and is a BIG nuisance.----- ----- Another issue. This one is some kind of bug or improper setting somewhere. - While reading txt or mms messages ....words and sometimes a sentence is missing in a couple lines of text just as the sentence would end at the far right side to continue to the next line on the left. The characters are still there.Just that some go missing from the screen at word wrap points. This does not happen while you are typing out a message.Only happens while displaying received messages. This causes mis-read text and makes me have to send a message back asking what they said etc etc. -- Also...is there a different .qcp playback codec because qcp playback sounds like sh@t.The same qcp files on LG cellphones sound way better.Thsi is pertaining to the voice recordings and sound in video.... Oh might I add one more here. --- You see this message here...see how all sentences are all bunched up and not paragraph formatted....I'm typing this using IE mobile.Even though I have spaced this properly at this current minute, you will read this message on Modaco as all one bunched up blob of text.Is there a way to fix this so it doesn't ignore formatting?

Just curious...I'm running a Q9M and don't have this problem.Could it be an issue with the pxa27x lcd driver? perhaps something was coded differently for use in AT&T phones.I thought the Q9M and Q9H were basically the same phone (internally as for the main chipset and board).I've found several settings in registry pertaining to display driver and video memory....just a thought since I'm constantly tweaking and hacking this thing.

Dumb question perhaps..Where the heck do you get Dosbox for smartphone wm5? I've seen numerous listings for the PPC and smartphone 2003 versions but can't seem to find one for wm5.I have googled the crap out of this in so many ways.I know one exists because I've seen people posting using Dosbox on a Moto Q and other SP's.Does the PPC version mysteriously run on SP also?sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I'm using a Motorola Q9M and this emulator works flawlessly.Aside of the key problem.I selected the "use alternate key mapping" and asigned the "M" and "." keys as my B - A fire keys.Use the space button as Start and "B" as Select. No problems after that. The only real problem I have with this emu. is it has a bad problem with a directional key sticking. It happens once in a blue moon but when it does....al controls including the red power key are non-funcrional.The game continues to run with the key/character moving in that direction (usually the "Right" >> key) and a battery pull is the only way to shut it off.I noticed it may happen more often if you start pressing keys too soon after loading/saving state. So wait a few seconds after loading/saving to allow save info and game stops being choppy.Other than that..over 86 files and they all runs perfect.Even Cybernoid...which usually bugs out on most PC emu's..And to change to Landscape mode or any other for that matter....have display mode selected .....then push "right" to change the mode.

SmartGear sucks compared to Picodrive. You got it all wrong.I tried SG and it has horrible sound.Incomplete in some games..The NES emulation in it also sucks.I wouldn't pay for a program with such flaws as that.I use Picodrive and Pocket Nester plus.PNP s by far way better..allmost like the original NES.And as far as the FPS trick goes.I tried it and it doesn't work.Regardless of the frame rate..games that have choppy sound and run too fast ...still have choppy sound no matter what frame rate is set at and smooth stretch turned off.And yes, I've restarted the program everytime.Always have restarted after every change in option menu.I dont think it has anything to do with how fast it runs.Castlevania Bloodlines runs a bit slow with fast render turned off but the sound is perfect with no choppiness at all.

I'm asking because it seems that ever since I installed the newest version of Flashvideobundle,i'm getting some browser issues. The plugin works but...When I run a search on something in youtube,it'll start loading the page...but it seems that sometimes if I let it sit there and load the entire page (about 580 kb) IE will shut down and there's the Homescreen.I never had problems with IE shutting down like that in youtube before except when the OOM killer gets it.But it isnt low on memory when it does this. Also it seems like some of the videos on youtube wont open now. It'll sit there forever and then I'll get an error message stating 'connection reset' or 'unable to load page'..... This is on a Moto q9.Anyone else getting this crap?

Ok...Just tried VITO Audio Notes. The program runs fine just as Resco does. But,I get the same results.I'll record a sound using uncompressed PCM method.Regardless of what sample rate I use to record with...whether it be 22khz , 44khz etc.The files get larger but playing them back still sounds like 8khz setting. With noticeable high frequency tinniness which is typically the result of artificial upampling. In case you dont understand what atificial upsampling is...it's when you take an audio sample recorded at...say 11khz and convert the sound to a higher sample rate such as 22khz.Doing this does not make the original recording sound any better. And will also have high frequency tinniness .There's a host of recording apps available. But having a program that records at better quality sample rates makes no sence if the resulting file still sounds like the original low-qual compressed 8khz files.Any help or suggestions are much appreciated.I've googled this subject in many forms but nothing points direct to motorola Q recording quality.

Hi,

PocketNES on Motorola Q is too Loud, I was wondering if there was a way to adjust the volume when on the PocketNester emulator. It doesn't seem like there are any settings to do this...

Just adjust your phone volume by holding the side button until it beeps. Then a bar pops up and you can adjust it from there. Its like that with any emulator.

Anyone else try CoolCamera and have problems getting the screen adjustments and effects working? Things such as color,contrast....sharpness...etc and effects such as greyscale and negative....don't work. When I change the setting values, nothing in the picture changes.in other words...no effect. The video mode records...but like I stated above, those functions have no effect.Even when the program is restarted. Also, the camera will not auto-adjust the screen exposure when you move it from low lit areas to bright spots such as near lamps or sunlit areas. It is over-exposed.

Ok,it was working ok that first and second time I ran it.Now when I run PocketSNES,there are issues with the sfx and music pitch. It doesn't matter what setting I use...sample rate....alt. sound decode.Nothing changes. It seems to play 1 octave higher than normal. So yeah'it sounds like a high pitched wind up music box.And as for the graphic glitches I got in All Stars and mario world, they seem to be caused by turning transparencies on.Looks fine with them off.Still can't figure out what they did to get Super Metroid past the Nintendo logo.

Forgive me if I sound rude but....Why.....but WHY do people insist on posting where to get roms? I see this constantly all over. Not just here........People......know this....DON'T ask where you can get roms from.Even providing info to rom links is against forum rules. Most any board is the same..All I can say is..........................G O O G L E IT.

If the network you want to switch to is the same type of network as Sprint, then the answer is yes.Sprint is a 3G/CDMA network.Currently I know Verizon uses the same type of network (what I use).I'm not sure about T-mobile or Alltel.I know Cingular/AT&T is GSM based so you would not be able to use that phone on that network as they use Sim cards.T-mobile may also be GSM based.

That's right.I'm sure many of you out there disgust the sound quality in your video recordings or sound recorder.I have been through the registry.I even tried Resco audio recorder.Even using Resco,it seems that the sound from the mic goes through some AD converter before it even gets to Resco. That is meaning, when you record a file in Resco at say...32khz...the resulting sound quality in the playback file still sounds like 8khz but artificially up-sampled to 32khz.In other words...it still sounds like sh*@! I also tried using the Motorola H700 BT hands free headset to record through....still get the same result.I'm thinking the sound input has to be linked to "msacm.msg711" in the registry. If anyone knows a way around this or some kind of improvement,I would most certainly like to hear about it.Improper text formatting due to me using Pie.

I have tried tweaking the registry.Changed all sorts of settings in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Pictures\Camera\Oem .Then video encoder property among other things.I cant seem to get 320x240 to work properly. Those over in Q9H forums seemed to have found a method. Now if q9h can do it,why can't a q9m? No matter what I try,I can't get a steady frame rate.It either records at 1 - 3 frames a second or it records a small 20 - 30 kb file that plays only 1 or 2 seconds worth then sits at a still frame. This is regardless of how long I record for.45 seconds......same........2 minutes....the same still.Maybe the Camera.dll file for the Q9H is different.Anyone with ideas or a fix?

Does this work on a Motorola Q9M on Verizons network? Currently there isn't a device specific for q9m on modaco. I am asking this because I recently tweaked the crap out of the camera registry settings.Trying to get 320x240 video record.I sort of did get this to work. But it is not usable.Either I get a recording that is only doing 1 - 3 frames a second or it records a small 27 kb file regardless of how long I actually recorded for.Playing this file results in 2 seconds of video followed by 10 - 20 seconds of a still image.Any ideas?

Had the same problem.Youtube swf arg not found .I thought it was something with my phone.nope.Found out today that this was Youtubes fault.Youtube went down and now that theyre back up they changed something with the flash video links.Only fix for this that I know of is to download the new flashvideobundle 1.44 .Just relased a few days ago on Treocentral.Of course you have to register to download there..

Apologies for impropr text formatting (PIE)....... Now,I have a few comments to leave for Picodrive.Havve the latest version 0.52.This megadrive emulator works great on my Motorolla Q9M with WM6..In my list of about 28 games which I had for years, many of them run extremely well.Sonic 3 ...Landstalker and Y's III are among those that are flawlwess. But there are a select ammount that all exhibit severe sound choppiness. And it seems to be related to the video frames.Regardless of what frame rate is set, these games play excessively fast and have chopped up sound.Among those...Phantasy Star 2 and 3...Sonic 1 and 2.Shining in the Darkness..etc.Now on games that run well with perfect sound and no choppiness...adjusting the frame rate to any other number except 60 will result in choppiness.Maybe this is an audio buffer or latency problem.Perhaps adding a control for such an item may help.Also..for the games that have chopped up sound, these also tend to be somewhat unstable. On these select games, using a sample rate of 44khz in picodrive 0.51 would cause pico to freeze or quit to wm6.On one other bug I noticed. In Rings of Power ,the text boxes and all menus in game are totally not visible. The boxes will open but nothing is in them..... Anyways. This is a great emulator.I am by no means complaining.Masterall has done a hell of a good job coding this up.

My comments so far of Pocket Snes 1.53 .This is on a Motorola Q9M - - It's not bad for being a work in progress. If you want sound,I highly suggest you check the box in sound options labeled (Alt Sound Decode). The music sounds much better without the tinniness.I always have sound turned on.It's just me.Games arent games without the sound and music that accompany them. Those who grew up with these systems know what I mean. .Some games I tested.Zelda 3 - Works good.little slow down with this one.Super Mario World and Mario Allstars - Both work with decent speed. But both have some glitches. The map on mario world is missing bacground landscape.Title screen on Allstars has blank image (just press start to go to menu). Super Metroid - Dont know.Couldn't get it past the Nintendo logo.SimCity - Runs Very slow ( 2 - 4 fps) .Again this is with sound turned on.So dont yell because I should turn it off to speed it up smile.gif .BOB - Runs very well with little glitches.Good speed.Paladins Quest - This one didn't show up in the file folder obviously because it's in .SFC. format.Super Famicom format I assume.Final Fantasy 2 (USA ver.) - Works but at moderately slow speed with music that breaks up.Graphics looked good.Secret of Evermore and Secret of Mana. - Both run extremely slow (2 - 3 fps).Lost Vikings 2 - Runs very slow.May be slightly playable......Drakkhen and Lagoon - Both very playable with good speed and sound...and... Earthworm Jim - Very slow at 2 - 3 fps. Now this is with the sample rate slider in the very middle.Increase it and you will lose more speed.Anyway ..I just thought I would put results from my phone for others to view. And perhaps this helps the author..Apologies if this text is not formatted properly.Would be my phone browsers pie fault.

-Edit- Duh...I'm obviously a dumba**! I failed to read back a few pages.I got it working.A bit slow but still good. You cant complain. It works. :)Now...one other thing. How did you get Super Metroid to load past the (Nintendo) screen? I tried changing all sorts of settings to no avail.I hope that isnt another one of those things thats hiddeen in this post in page 10 or 13 ...thanks
