XT definitely has differences from the hiking GPSrs like the eTrex and 60CSX. That's one of my biggest problems with it. If we could get rid of the static navigation so Cachemate would work better I don't know that I'd use XT near as much. |

I'd love to be able to use the Blackjack II for caching more too, but I haven't found any software that really works. Most of it seems to be for Windows Mobile Professional. I'm very hesitant to change the settings with any tools. I don't want to mess up the chip. |

Garmin XT should work without a data plan for the GPS. It contains the maps on the SD card. |

Think of it as high tech hide and seek. There are containers hidden all over the world that contain log books. Using the GPS and www.geocaching.com or other services you go to the location and find the "cache" and log your find in the log book as well as online. Because GPS isn't perfectly exact you still have to search some when you get to the location. Often the caches will take you to great locations you might have missed otherwise. |
