Why people want to buy a device with an OS and want after change it ?
Buy another device if you don`t like it with their fonctionalities.

Garmin take several seconds to focus the current point.

But you have some other software going faster :

Example : http://www.rungps.net (free trial version available)

If you use Gamin, you need to walk some meters before to move on your map,
gpsTest, gpsUtil same.
RunGps is a software to compute the walk that you do during the day. So you have a faster display.

i am trying to run the garmin mobile xt on my blackjack 2, and i keep getting an error message : "Connection allowed to Garmin GPS device only" how do i get around this?

When you use an unregistered version you have access only at "Garmin GPS device only".
You need to have a valid (...) licence to access at options to have the internal GPS.

Me it take between 2 mn until 20 mn.
It's not because of indoor or outdoor, when I m outside it take the most of time (impossible to locate something during a walk or in car).

To optimize the search, I find these tips :
- do not move it too more, it need to be at same place.
- after around 30s at the same place, move it on another place and wait again 30s, and come back at the previous place, ect
- search the first place with the power plugged. It work better with more energy and without the energy saving mode.

Cool, when I search in my windows mobile generic files, I find files about printer too !
It mean that if I put papers inside my i617 I could print my pics ?

I find too fax, If I have found the hole to put paper for the printer, I could send my docs by fax !!!

Hey dudes !
You have Windows Mobile Generic files in your i616,
don't think you have all options that you will find in registry and others hidden files.

This problem exist for all BJII of all countries, but samsung provided the patch only for the US version.
If you try to install on a BJII from another country, you will have a certificate problem and the cell will refuse to install it.

Why this problem exist everywhere and they patch it only for US ?
If you check on download center from other countries, the patch doen't exist, but the problem continue.

If you live in USA, samsung give you support,
but if you live outside USA : you could die without help.

To install the patch you must apply before the patch find here on MoDaCo to remove all security from the cellphone.
It work, yes, but you phone lost all security.
Thanks Samsung to sell cellphone on other countries without support.

Mojoski you don t need an hard reset,
BJII keep some config infos on files and on memory (BJII OFF stay ON).
Remove the battery for some hours is enought to reset the GPS part.

Hi,
tongue.gif a funny fact.

the most simple function of a phone is to display time and date.

My BJII say that today it's : Sunday 21 april .... (we are monday 21 april).

To see the bug, use the

Settings > Display > Home Screen > Home screen layout : Samsung Calendar

If you have not it, check my post attachements.

It's the software provided by samsung to display date on the desktop with a full calendar.
When you activate it, check the day.

If you change the date in the setting, you could see than februrary 29 is a friday and march 01 is a friday too.
So all the next day after 29 februray have a decay on 2008.

It's a phone to manage appointments, but he don't know how to manage a calendar and what is the current day.
LOL.

Other software by other editors are ok, but how we can trust the other samsung softwares if it don't know how to display a normal day.

MiniSD won't fit. BJII takes a MicroSD.

MiniSD to MicroSD adaptator exist.
it's same than MicroSD to SD adaptator but smaller.

So problem is not a fit problem.
Problems come from compatibility and drivers.

Me, when I apply the MoDaCo patch all is fine,
but when I use the GPS with a software, after when I switch off the cell for a long time (several hours), when I re-open it, the GPS is locked.
So to have the GPS, when I switch off the cell I need to remove always my battery.
Else it search, it search and never find something, even if it found something at last session.

Maybe it's because it had found some satellites and it search to resynchronize them.
When the first time I search satellite, the GPS take time to find them (2m - 10 mn) but after it's immediate.
It mean than it keep them somewhere and try to reconnect the one that it had detected.

We have too more problems with this cell, I think the GPS included is full bugged.
So avoid to take it for this function.

i616 = i617
only the communication systems between providers are differents.
And i616 should be better than i617 because the network protocols are better.

I have i616 from Rogers and I have the GPS included but locked same than i617.
Apply Paul or microsoft patches to unlock it.

Hi,
I have read several topics and I have noted than :
- some people have applyed with succes some methods to unlock their BlackJack II with Paul patch or Microsoft Patch,
>> GOOD

But
- after some uses, several people have their GPS relocked with no results in the try to re unlock it, with hard reset too.
- some people too, have never succeeded to unlock their BlackJAck II with all methods
- some people have unlocked the GPS but have no signal, or have it one time and lost it forever after some software uses.

I have try all methods and I have discover than sometime, if you assign a bad port, a bad speed, or do bad port scannings the GPS is hardware locked, and it's impossible after to unlock it by software.
Hard reset has no effect on this lock because it's should be an electonic fuse to protect it.

On my BJII, for example if I create an hardware port with the Microsoft patch, my GPS begin OFF immediatly and it's impossible to detect someting.
You have that too when you play with all patchs and GPS software together.

So THE method to unlock this hardware lock is : REMOVE BATTERY AND WAIT
On my cell, it's 30 mn than I must wait, for some other people it's a full night.

Good luck and keep HOPE.

To test my GPS, I use
. GPS Test (take 2 - 10 mn to synchronise)
. Run.GPS from eSymetric (synchronise immediatly)
Note : GPS Utilities doesn't work on my cell

Same problem here,
impossible to hear all sound because they are too low.

NB: at new user, if you lock your BJ, all the calls go to your voicemail and your phone will never ring.

Hi,
several time people here talk about Hard Reset (delete all content and reinstall default installation files) but I have never found how to do that.

So I found that on another website to Hard reset (Format and re install) your BlackJack I and II :

- Power Off your BJ
- UP (scroll) + POWER ON

Follow the instruction (confirmation screens)

Think to save all your personnal contents before to do that because you will have a full new installation.

Work fine on my BJ II.
Usefull to use several program and clean all these dirty (and insecure) installations.
