Just to make you all aware T- Mobile MDA Mail does not have WIFI!!! ohmy.gif This is one of the reasons i decided to take an 18 month contract out at £35 a month. Nope, not now, sending the phone back and am going to buy one(with WIFI enabled) on sim free. According to T - Mobile they've had quite a few calls regarding the lack of WIFI and many customers are returning their handsets. I've waiting a long time to get this phone on contract with T - Mobile, why did you have to go and do this to me T - Mobile sad.gif

Yep, no wifi mad.gif I just got a £35 monthly contract with t-mobile for 18 months so i could get this phone. After an hour i realized there was no wifi and after reading everyone elses posts i feel a little let down. I just assumed it would have wifi. Expansys has them with wifi, think i might go with them.

Just spoke to t-mobile and am sending the phone back and cancelling the contract. Speaking to the guy on the phone, he reckons they've had plenty of calls already and have had to send out lots of packaging for customers to return their MDA Mails!!Why oh why would they not include wifi ohmy.gif Shame as i really like the phone.

I was with orange for years. I was waiting for the m5000 for just ages. Couldn't wait any longer, got an i-mate jam with a vodaphone sim card. I think Orange have been loosing the plot for some time now

Good advice, my excuse is never having had an I-Mate so not having seen the support section
*

Inspectorgadjet, initially the instructions on the I-mate website advised you to download the whole file and install it to you jasjar. This would then freeze your device. I then realized (after many other people who posted these symptons on the I-mate support page) that you had to extract the correct cab file, this was not mentioned in the install instructions. I then e-mailed the I-mate support team who then broke up the cab file and changed the install instructions. Therefore clearing up the problem. Also I posted this advice for the purpose of helping others, quite possibly the time I posted the 'problem and solution' the issue was already addressed. Your welcome.

Ok, if you haven't already downloaded the SIM_Sensing_UK_NL_SA_AU_NZ_V1.00.00 file, download it. Available at the I - Mate site when you register your devise:- http://www.clubimate.com

1. Create a new folder on your desktop(Call it what you like)

2. Copy the Sim Sensing file to this folder

3. Right click on the file and select extract here(Using WINRAR).

4. Now you should have many .CAB files.

5. Right click on Vodafone_UK_Contract(or which one you require) and copy that to your JASJAR device i.e. my documents, my device etc.

6. Now access file explorer(on the jasjar) and locate the file and tap on Vodafone_UK_Contract.

7. When prompted, install to device NOT storage card.

8. A short delay, it will tell you it's all done, tap ok and you can now delete the Sim Sensing file. Do a soft reset(probably not essential but i did) and you're ready to access the internet and send mms.
8)

EDIT: As pointed out by inspectorgadjet, you could just go to the JasJar support section of the Club I-Mate site, click on Operator settings, and download just the cab files for the settings you need.

Ok, have been and registered my device with the I - Mate website. There is a utility/cab file you can download from them but you have to register.

After installing this on my jasjar it completely slowed it down. Had to do a hard reset but you can delete the program and things should revert back to normal. It say on the website it will configure your device to your network, i.e. Vodaphone, Orange etc etc. Anyway you sit their waiting for a prompt asking you do you want your device configured(as stated on the i - mate site). Howver this never happens.

Other people including myself have tried to contact i - mate but no replies, on-line help and e-mails. As another user pointed out on the forum there is obviously a bug in this software, to me it was more like a bloody virus!!!!

My advise don't use it. So i still can't use the internet or send mms messages. I have tried entering other settings manually but still no joy. :x

Well I - Mate, as i said on the other site, before you know it, unless this is issue is resolved, you'll have more devices returned quicker than you can say Orange m5000 or T - Mobile MDA Pro!!! 8)

Just a quick one. When encoding video for the Jasjar, WMV using Windows Media Encoder. After you select Pocket PC(Landscape) and finish. Go to properties and change the display size to 640 x 480, this will ensure your video is fullscreen. smile.gif

Well, imho, this is a BADBOY.
It's slightly larger than my m1000 but only slightly. HTC have really thought of pretty much everything. Even when you swivel the screen from landscape to portrait it automatically adjusts itselfs. Speakers sound great, screen is awsome, keyboard is suprsingly useable. For documents, e-mails i would use this. For short texts probably the on screen keyboard in portrait mode.

Anyway, i've been playing, loads to mention. Now if any other of you guys who've just aquired one of these, i'm having problems full screening video. It plays fine in portrait and landscape but when you full screen it it seems to leave the video the same size and just get rid of the players graphics! Odd

Ok, must go play some more

didnt fancy getting a jasjar, i wantd to get an officially branded device, rather than (to all extents and purposes) a sim free device and sim card.
Localisation and network settings from a UK operator will make using the device so much nicer.
M5000 for me i think.

Yeh, I know what your saying but i'm away for 3 weeks next Thursay. I cracked the screen of my m1000(Orange) about 2 months ago, however i cancelled my orange care a while back  !!

Orange said the m5000 wasn't due to be released end of September/start of October and i'm using my old e200 at the moment. So my decision was based on this and the fact that i need my toys and i need them now 8)

I've been having on going problems with orange for nearly a year. My M1000 kept resetting itself at least once a week(even with no additional software and the correct roms). They said it's not there problem as it's a software fault  .

Anyway after countless calls over the year i mentioned i had a speaker problem. They agreed to swap mine with a refurbished phone(i have orange CARE) but i would have to pay £16 for administration  !!! I just said forget it and cancelled my orange so called care for my phone and my wifes.

Phoned a couple of days ago to cancel my contract as it's nearly up. They made no effert to retain my custom. The guy just said 'So why do you want to cancel? Have you had some problems with your phone?' I replied 'yes and quite a few'. Orange guy..... 'ok, that will be done in 30 days'. What with all this #ollocks on tv with the old wise man saying look after your customers  !!!! I've been with Orange for 3 years now!!!

Anyway i'm just going to wait for this new mini laptop Universal phone to be released. Hopefully it will be out with Vodaphone or T-Mobile before Orange. 8)

This is like the ultimate minilaptop since the success of the Handheld PC. VGA, keyboard, WiFi, BT, phone, GPRS!!! What a combo!

You're right. It does look like a little mini laptop and i like it. What i like about it is that you can use it as a regular hand held i.e. pda/phone etc and when you fancy watching a movie or playing a game it can turn in to a mini laptop.

I've had an e200 up till a few days ago but now i have just got one of these bad boys. It's awsome! There's so much you can do with them. Also of course there's not so many limitations as with the e200. Get one!!

I thought the SPV M1000 might have featured on device specific?
