QUOTE(scka101 @ Mar 8 2008, 16:06) *
I have an unlocked Shadow that I am using w/ AT&T. My question deals with the internet and its connection. I don't have a data plan but I do have wifi at my house. Even though I don't have a data plan I can still connect to the internet and get charged by the data usage. I want to know how to make sure I'm surfing via wifi and not the AT&T internet option. I don't want to get my bill and find out I've been using AT&T connection, and not my wifi. Any help?

Two simplest solutions:
1. Contact ATT customer service, and have them disable pay per use internet.
or
2. Delete the GPRS and Proxy connection settings for ATT.

Having just got a c600 (upgraded from e200) i find i am missing the docking cradle too much.

Does anyone know of any place in the uk selling docking cradles compatible with c600?

many Thanks

I am using a USB Cradle for an SP3i that I got from Expansesys (http://www.expansys-usa.com/product.asp?code=119926). The mini-usb connector on the bottom of the last three generations of phones has been in the same location.

Works great!

Hi all,

Can anyone help please????

I have had this phone now for about 4 months and all was well until last night! When I opened the flip to take a call I noticed a small crack fron the bottom of the screen to the hinge. I then closed the phone and reopened it however the crack turned into a "V" shape and one of the hinges came off.

Currently the phone's flip part is only held on by one of the two hinges!!!!

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Is is fixable - if so how?

Can I buy a replacement original housing for it in the UK?

Thanks,

Gareth

Good OEM housings are hard to find. www.cnn.cn is the best that I have found out there. The following link shows the black version of the case. CNN also carries the OEM silver case. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=442099

I have used Ruttensoft Home Screen Designer exclusively while learning to code in XML. Often, I have come across work that I liked, but wanted to add or remove modules that would better suit my needs. As a rule of thumb, most people provide only the finished work, however, I have given you all the backgrounds as the original photoshop documents, such that you can easily modify them to suit your needs......enjoy smile.gif

The process is not hard, you just need to take it slow as not to damage anything.....honestly, the worst part was moving the internal antenna. It is a stick on type and must be peeled up like a piece of tape......again slow is the key.

I looked at moving the speaker, but it is not possible. It is installed on the back of the LCD board......you could desolder it and build some leads, but there is really no room in the inn to move it any where else.

The ear piece can not be moved as it runs a simple contact connection from the ear speaker to the LCD board, and you would have to solder leads from the earpiece to the board. I did put some extra stand off material between the housing and the earpiece to force a better connection, and I seem to have better sound volume and quality now.

This is truely a OEM housing.....very good quality......and I am very pleased with the results.

I need the torx 5 or torx 6 to open???

I bought the cell phone tool and it cam with a Torx5, and I have a Torx6, but neither seemed to work with the screws. I ended up using my jewlers driver set with much better results.

OBTW.....cnn.cn now has the rubber stopper kit for the mpx220 ($4).....so you no longer have to live with the gray covers and silver rubber stoppers.

my housing should be here this week...it's the brownish/red color. i couldn't find the "flat black" housing you described on the the cnn.cn website.

my understanding is that the kit includes the housings, rubber bumper (screw) covers, but, it excludes the headset and miniSD rubber covers. i'll order those if i don't like the appearance after i change the housing.  i also ordered the torx screwdriver and the cell phone separator device.

The Brownish cover is flat black from some angles and brownish/reddish from others.

I bought the entire kit, and it did not include the rubber bumpers, mini-sd cover, headphone cover or a small hinge insert. I was forced to paint the silver insert that was with my old phone.

I received my Black OEM (almost maroon) housing kit night before last. The full kit is available from www.cnn.cn/mpx220 and comes with everything but the mini-sd cover, headphone jack cover, and rubber stoppers that go over the screws. I reused each of those items from my original case. OBTW the silver moto emblems must be reused also.

The process is made much easier if you purchase the $1.99 cell phone opener tool, and you will run much less chance of damaging the new case. It took me about an hour also from start to finish. The only hard spot I had was the earpiece speaker which must be positioned just right for the contacts to make with the board in the top cover.

I would rate the project a 2 out of 5, only for the fact that you are forced to go slow and not put too much pressure on the new case (they are not as sturdy as they look.

I followed the thread on Howard Forum (www.cnn.cn) and got an OEM Black shell (full kit). The shell is flat black and the full kit comes with everything except new rubber bumpers (for the hex screws) and mini SD slot cover.

Spend the $1.99 an buy a cell phone tool which will greatly aid in opening both the old and new cases.

There are four hex screws at the four corners of the inside LCD, under the rubber bumpers. There are six more on the back of the phone....two up by the antenna under rubber bumpers and four more in the battery compartment.

Once you have removed them, the cell phone tool comes in handy to pry the case open without damaging it. You will have to remove the internal antenna and put it in the new case, but all other buttons and covers.

On a 1-5 scale, I would rate the work difficulty about a 2 ..... the key is not to get in a hurry and force anything, as the shell is actually quite fragile.

turn the phone off, then .... hold down the center blue "action key" and press the power botton. The phone will come up with a black and white confirmation screen, confirming your request for a hard reset.

.....As I am a TMO user, and I bought my phone from eBay, Best Buy was unwilling to help me. If you are a CINGULAR customer, they have an enchange program ongoing (I got the number from www.howardforums.com). I personnally had to get an RMA from MOTO and send my phone to them. They did not charge me anything, as the phone is on a 1 year warantee, but the turnaround time from the time they receive your phone is 10-14 days.

Got mine back from MOTO on Friday of last week. Running 1.8.0.0. I've been playing with it over the weekend, and the camera is working much better (was running .325). BT and camera together are working, but the camera's focus seems to be a bit more touchy.
