Well, just bored so I thought I'd post some of the modification I've made to my Q; Fist thing on the list was to "Application Unlock" the phone... With any Windows Mobile phone a Registry Editor is a must, I use Resco... but there are others that are free... just google PHM registry editor... To Unlock the Q the following resgistry changes are neccassary: CODE HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies0001001 = 2 -> Change the value data from 2 to 1 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies0001005 = 16 -> Change the value data from 16 to 40 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies0001017 = 128 -> Change the value data from 128 to 144 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Security\Policies\Policies -> Add new value "0000101b": Dword = 1 The following changes will improve the performance slightly on your Q: CODE 1) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE -> change limit from 16384 to 32768 2) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\STORAGEMANAGER\FATFS -> change cachesize to 4096 Next I want to change how Internet Explorer is reconized: CODE 1) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent\ ->Change the default value to "Mozilla/4.0". ->Change the "Version" value to "MSIE 6.0". Next I like to enable flash on my Q: You will need to download the attached files, CODE 1) Copy all.reg to your device and export the registry settings, 2) Copy the files to the correct pathes on your device, 3) Overwrite the "flash.dll" file with the original in "Windows\Macromedia\" directory on your device, 4) Copy "regsvrce.exe" to your device and register the .dll file in your "Windows\Macromedia\flash.dll" directory, 5) Overwrite the file "flash.dll" in "Windows\Macromedia\" directory... your mobile browser will now support Flash...! Programs I like for my Q, TCPMP - allows me to view tons of media files, I have been ripping movies to mpg formate to view on my Q.. I currently have the movie 300 on my SD card at about 300mb... you can even view divx files... Vieka WordPad - Powerful text editor for your SP... Resco Explorer - Powerful suite of programs, a nice file explorer and Registry editor... even supports .zip files, compression and encryption... and an ftp plugin... Facade - Awsome Homescreen plug-in, allows you to launch porograms directly from you HS plus tons of other cool stuff... needed for most homescreens created here in the forum... PocketNesterPlus - The best Nintendo emulator for your sp... Play all the classics, I think I like this one best... DoomCE- Doom for you sp, what more can I say... If anyone else has some cool programs or something else they would like to share please do... Application unlock , means to unlock your phone .........???? |

Opera Mini version 4.1 runs great if your using Esmertec. Since this is freeware still I don't believe I'm breaking any rules here. If I am, sorry delete the file but please don't delete the post. Its just the installer jad program and then once loaded using Esmertec it will download the program. The program is listed at mini.jad To turn on GPS on your phone, its not actual GPS but it works with the cell phone towers to get your position. Its called MoDaCo.SmartphoneGPSActivator.COM3.CAB and also an added treat it will allow you to make registry changes too. While your at it grab GPStest install that do a phone reboot and start gpstest. Once that is running load google maps and it will work like a charm. This is the gmail jar file for the motoQ9h and it works. But for me IMAP works much better. The file is gmail-mot15-g Well that is all for me if any of you find a twitter program let me know. I've got a few I'm testing right now and I'll post them when I find them. Cheers. Jason in Phoenix, Arizona. as u mentioned that , Q9h work with googlemap ........ i tried on my , but it ask me for data plan , i dont have any internet / data plan from FIDO, service provider ....do u suggest any offline software , which i can use with my phone , except garmin , which cost $99 ........how to turn GPS off , once done with it ....to avoid killing battary life any possibility of WiFi on the Q9H ..?? thxxxx for help |

I have had similar problems on my Q9h... Every single time the phone has to "turn on" the receiver. This is very annoying. AND if you don't quit or kill the program running the GPS, it will run forever. The battery life in the Q9h already isn't the best. I suggest looking at a GPS test application to actually see the time it takes for it to start up and keep working. My GPS, when using the test, takes at least 5 minutes to start up. Somewhere on this site there is a GPS activator for our device, but for me it just made my data not work... So use at your own risk. But that is supposed to help. So my guess is that the program isn't turning off the GPS... It would be annoying but maybe you need to turn off your phone everytime you are done with the GPS, IF killing the program doesn't work. i have the same problem , kills my battery , but GPS does work , and i have to un-install it every time i am done with it , or have to do HArd reboot my whole phone back to factory default , any solution to it ???? any idea , how to get WiFi on Q9h , so that i can use google earth , instead of buying mapping software , like garmin , which sounds like expensive. thxzxxxxxxxxxxxx |

![]() It turns out that a GPSID configuration utility that exactly mirrors the Pocket PC version is nestling away in the 'Tools' directory of the Windows Mobile 6 Standard SDK Refresh! If you're a BlackJack II owner, a Motorola Q9H owner or basically anyone wanting to configure GPS on a Smartphone, then you NEED this utility! I don't think it's really fair to make you download a >200MB SDK install just to get hold of it, so (because i'm nice like that) i've packaged the application up into a lovely CAB file, which is attached below. Enjoy, and Microsoft - better late than never eh? P [attachment=23385:Microsof...Settings.cab] how can i turn off and turn on GSP moto Q9h , this utility turns GPS on , but then it stays up running 24/7 , which kills my battery , i need some solution to turn it off , while i dont need it , and turn it on , only when i need it ... thanks , great work , work on my Q9h , shows on home screen |

This is an awesome find. Unfortunately I cannot get it to work with COM5. After manually editing the registry to try and connect on COM4, everything worked perfectly with the GPS... the only downside is data wouldn't work so it wouldn't download the maps Now I am just trying to manually edit the GPS COM port until I find one that lets me use data and aGPS. This leads me to believe that not all Q9hs are created equal how to deactivate the GPS on the phone , its killing my battery , also someone said , google mobile map works with Q9h , as i tried it , it gives me error , saying that i need data plan ,....??? any solution to it , i am using COM 5 , but need solution to turn off and turn on GPS , to save battery life. thxx |
