Hi guys n gals, Just a note of caution - I had also made my own 3.5mm out of the headset... was happily using it for about 3 weeks, when one day the right earpiece had no sound. Turns out that the mini USB socket on the phone had become loose (it did not feel loose, but when I moved the headset jack a little bit sometimes the sound comes back). Sent the phone in for servicing, and they replaced the whole mainboard. Collected it 3 days later. Was happy with the service, but now worried about the durability of the mini USB socket. Afterall, it is used for the headset, charger and sync cable. |

From what you are saying, its probably a software problem. Try uninstalling the software that you installed one by one. But if you dont have anything important on the phone, I suggest just to "upgrade" it again to put it back to factory default settings. |

With the phone in the 3-colour screen, run the ROM update program again on your PC.
At some point you will see "flashing...". This means that the ROM in your phone is being erased and updated. You should see a progress indicator (0%...5%....) etc... dont do anything to the phone until the updating program on your PC tells you that the flashing is complete. The flashing process usually takes about 10 minutes. After that, the phone will usually reboot by itself. |

Good news everybody!
After a little hacking, there is now a new VoUpgradeUT.exe that can be used to upgrade those 1.07.01 bootloader roms without getting stuck at 10%! Its a hack of the VoUpgradeUT.exe that comes with the Greek Qtek upgrade. Turns out there was a mismatched password (similar fix as florin's fixed.exe). This can be used to upgrade phones with the Imate ROM to the O2 ROM, for example. Theoretically it should be able to upgrade any ROM with bootloader version 1.07.01 or 1.07.02. As a plus, just like the Greek Qtek upgrader, it never gives you an "Error 117"... enjoy! Disclaimer: Use at your own risk! |

I've been waiting forever for this. If they can do this with the C500, they surely can do this with the E200 / Xphone / Voyager-series. Its probably just a matter of software... so I hope they wont delay the upgrades for the Voyager that include this functionality. |

Did you try to do a full reset for the car kit? It may still have the old bonding configured, that is causing it some confusion. |

Do any of the phones include a video recorder that records in MPEG4 video and AAC audio (.3GP) format? Is the video recording capability finally approaching that of the Symbian handsets?
In my opinion this is one of the MS Smartphones biggest flaws. Crappy video recorder without 3GP support and pathetic framerate. |

Use the greek ROM exe files, replace the NK.nbf file from the Greek ROM with the file from the Qtek ROM. It should work. |

I am using the Ericsson HBH-65 with the Xphone. I have been trying many ROMs... and so far the Bluetooth range has been disappointing. However, after upgrading to the latest iMate ROM, Bluetooth range for my headset has improved tremendously! Now there is no crackling, etc. when I use Bluetooth headset with the phone in my pocket. Previously, sometimes I would get it. It is probably due to the much newer radio version of the iMate ROM.
So guys, if you dont mind risking an "unauthorized" ROM, then do try the iMate ROM. |

Yes, I got it working before. Let me tell you, it is a waste of time. The OS, etc. versions are quite old... compared to the latest ROMs by Qtek and iMate. If you really want to try out a new ROM, the best now is the iMate one. Of course, you wont have any Orange customizations... but for me I would prefer decent battery life and bluetooth performance over Orange customizations anytime. |

First check the version of your bootloader (the 3-coloured screen). If the bootloader version is LOWER THAN 1.07.xx... then do it this way:
Use the Greek Qtek ROM updater. Replace the Qtek NK.nbk file with the file from the new imate ROM. Run the Greek Qtek updater... it should work. |

This looks like the same as the Swiss Orange ROM 2.6.5.3. It is quite old, but it gives you the dreaded 1.07.02 bootloader. You will need florin's fixed.exe to change to any other ROM after u flash this ROM. |

QUOTE Has anyone noticed problems with the video capture? The frame rates are terrible when recording videos with sound. It's crippled on my phone. I've resetted and reupgraded it and the problem persists. I used to get better video capture with my original Xphone ROM. I also can't attach video files (.3gp, .mp4) in the MMS application, unlike the Qtek ROM. You can still attach video files in the MMS application... in the menu select "Select Video"... ta-da. Battery life, standby time seems to have improved 2 to 3 times. No kidding. Voice call volume is louder for sure... headset and spaker. Speakerphone mode, now the other party can hear you better. Lots of improvements... |

Confirmed, the battery life is much better (even with the SD card inserted). And so far, the Bluetooth headset range seems to have improved too. At least now it doesnt crackle if I use a bluetooth headset with the phone in my trouser pocket.
The better battery life and bluetooth performance could be due to the much newer radio version. |

I've upgraded to this ROM from Qtek 1.9... and this is immediately noticeable:
1. Battery lasts longer in standby mode! I'd say about 50% longer at least... using Beersoft's Battery Monitor, I see now that there are times when 1% of battery lasts 1hour+. Previously, the maximum I ever got was about 1% lasting 40mins. I'm happy with this. I am using a Panasonic 256MB SD card in the phone all the time. 2. Call volume is louder. 3. Speakerphone microphone seems to be clearer (other party can hear you). 4. I never had the "SD bug" in the first place. My SD card always seemed to work fine. Overall a very nice upgrade. |

Hi guys! GOOD NEWS!
I have just tried "downgrading" my Qtek 1.9.14.1 ROM... and ran into the same 10% problem. However using fauno's method, I have managed to make it work!!! Here is exactly what I did. You will need a few ROM versions: 1. Update the phone with the GREEK version of Qtek 1.7 ROM installer. The flash will hang at 10%... now comes the tricky part. *** DO NOT POWER OFF OR DISCONNECT YOUR PHONE *** 2. Use the Windows Task Manager to kill the Qtek 1.7 installer process (VoUpgradeUt). 3. Now, use florin's fixed.exe together with the ROM of Orange SWISS 2.6.5.3. It shoud allow you to start flashing your phone. If you get error 117, just quit the program and try again using florin's fixed.exe. 4. Now the phone should be updating using florin's fixed.exe and the Orange SWISS ROM 2.6.5.3. Watch the progress go past 10%... 11%... it works! This will get you to the Orange 2.6.5.3 ROM with the 1.07.02 bootloader. *** NOW YOU ARE BACK TO THE "NORMAL" SWISS E200 ROM 2.6.5.3 *** 5. If you want to take the safe route... now use florin's fixed.exe AGAIN with the Orange UK 2.6.1.3 ROM. This will bring your phone back to the older E200 ROM. Now upgrade to whatever you want... *** HOWEVER I WENT STRAIGHT TO IMATE *** 6. I skipped step 5. I used florin's fixed.exe in combination with the latest Imate ROM. At first I got error 117. But I just tried again, and it allowed me to flash! Went to 100% no problems. Now I am on the Imate ROM. BTW, the bootloader version of this new Imate ROM is 1.07.01 also. |

hi t3dluke.
from the description of your problem... it updates until 10%... does not sound like the same problem with the wrong bootloader password (that one is stuck at 0%). moreover, fauno found a way to flash it back. did u consider that this might be a hardware fault? could it be that your flash rom is somehow spoilt, and this is unrelated to the bootloader problem? if it is not too inconvenient, it might be good to bring the phone back to the service center for a check and reflash. sorry we cant be more helpful. |

How about using florin's fixed .exe to flash the Qtek 1.9.14.1 ROM again on your phone? Then after that try to use florin's .exe to flash it to another ROM like the old Qtek one? |

Cleartype off only on home page? That is strange. The registry I gave you comes straight from Microsoft. There is another registry key to control Cleartype in Internet Explorer. That might be the one causing your "problem". I dont have it with me now... maybe if I find it later. |

QUOTE I have intalled latest software from swedish update but i noticed screen has become very fuzzy and beside this very poor mic quality. Screen fuzzy = Microsoft Cleartype has been enable. You can disable it by deleting a registry key (see other thread on how to do it). Poor mic quality? This I am not sure, it should be no worse than the older ROM... although you never know... To downgrade, its not so easy as the bootloader is different. You risk making your phone unusable with a failed flash. Check out the other thread on this issue, there appears to be a way to do it now. |

To turn off Cleartype, you need to remove some registry entries.
Remove the following key, and all values under it: HKLMSYSTEMGDICleartype If you know how to use RapiConfig, here is an input XML that should work: CODE <wap-provisioningdoc> <characteristic type="Registry"> <nocharacteristic type="HKLMSYSTEMGDICleartype"> <noparm name="Quality" value="1" datatype="integer" /> </nocharacteristic> </characteristic> </wap-provisioningdoc> |

There is a newer Qtek ROM (1.9.14) available now at http://www.qtek.se/default.asp?nc=1665&id=72&element=0
WARNING - It has been found that after you upgrade to this ROM, it is not easy (but still possible) to downgrade back to other ROMs. |

QUOTE you can use the fixed.exe in combination with the orange switzerland last rom (2.6.5.3) and it works. I think fauno means this: Extract the Orange Switzerland ROM 2.6.5.3. Apply florin's fix for 1.7.02 bootloader to this update. Run the update. It should work, and put your phone to the Orange Switzerland ROM 2.6.5.3. After this your phone is just like an Orange 2.6.5.3. Now you can flash to whatever ROM you want, but take note that Orange 2.6.5.3 ROM has the 1.7.02 bootloader... so... for example if you want to go back to Qtek 1.7... extract Qtek 1.7 ROM. Then apply again florin's fix for the 1.7.02 bootloader. Run the update. It should work again and flash your phone back to the Qtek 1.7 ROM. Good luck fellow tweakers! |
