So I finally moved in to the WinMo6 world by getting the Dash the other night from T-Mobile. First off, I love this thing! Although I have an issue with call quality right now, I get a high pitched tone in some of my calls. huh.gif

Anyway, so I edited a homescreen as I did for my old WinMo5 (Cingular 2125) device for the software I have:
  • Fizz Traveller
  • Oxios Tasks
  • T-Mobiles MyFaves
I had it working, made one more change and copied the file to my phone only to have the file no longer appear in the list. What happened and have I made a mistake in the file?

I commented out the MyFaves plugin thinking that was my problem... it didn't help.

EDIT found my mistake, had a </label> tag missing

update: Nevermind, submitted for a replacement this afternoon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The only headset I had within reach was my SMT5600 one today. I plugged it in to my 2125 and now the only mode where I can hear anything on my phone is with the headset attached. Nobody can hear what I say in any mode.

What the heck happened?

Recap...
- I can only hear with the headset plugged in. No matter what profile I am in.
- Nobody can hear me talk... regardless of the profile.

I've powered off the phone a few times, ripped the battery while attempting to check voicemail... for the most part this phone has been flawless until this very annoying issue. It really makes working from home when your mobile is your only phone difficult!

Note: Everytime I power off my phone, it comes back up in the Headset profile. How can I force this to turn off? As best I can see, there is nothing in the jack area! It's clear and free of any debris. Any ideas?

It looks like the biggest difference between the two versions is that "Pro" allows you to set ringtones by call group.

Has anyone else used this software that can comment on any other differences between the two versions?

I was looking for the same thing and this is the only solution I was able to find. It's a program from Pocket X. Two versions available, take a look and see if either suit your needs.

http://www.pocketx.net/products/photoconta...o_sm/index.html

I haven't loaded a demo yet, so if you do please post your thoughts.

I've edited a home screen to contain both Fizz Traveller and Oxios Tasks, but I have one little issue with the MRU icon sizes. I found the following code to shrink them, but if I set the mru icon-size to anything other than "16" the icons are over sized and don't fit properly.
CODE
<plugin clsid="{79EFB752-CB70-446d-B317-499723482B3D}" name="startmru" height="32">
    <background b-border-width="0" />
    <mru icon-size="16" x="18" y="6" halign="left" valign="top" />
</plugin>

How can I edit that so the icons are little larger than 16? I ask because I have some extra space now and shouldn't have a problem with anything extending off the screen down below.

Thanks!

I edited an existing XML layout to include both Fizz Traveller and Oxios "To Do" list plugins and it doesn't appear after I've uploaded it to my phone. I renamed the file and the theme name in the XML, it never appears.

I had this happen before when I was working on WM2002 and WM2003, but can't remember how I got around it.

Other then resolution there's no difference

The C550 (WM2003?) had a QVGA display, as do all the WM5 smartphones that I know of.

There never was a WYSIWYG homescreen editor for WM5 at least as far as I know

Thanks chucky.egg, I didn't notice any difference from the home screens I've seen lately.

I've started working on creating my own home screen (the guide above has some very good information!). But I'm still kind of puzzled... what's the big difference between QVGA home screens and regular run-of-the-mill home screens?

Aside from color and screen size, I don't know what else there is?

Also, is there an application to create WM5 home screens? That old one from Ruttensoft doesn't support WM5.

Thanks!

Thanks Paul! Are you using IPB 2.1.6 with Unreal Portal? Any problems when applying updates from IPS?

Hate to do the install and see it bomb and resort to a restore.

Also, what mod are you using to identify the browser I'm using? Next to the names in the who is online or browsing this topic is the icon for the browser the user is using. Neat little mod.

A couple of quick questions for the admins/mods...

1) This looks like an Invision Power Board forum, is it?
2) Which portal system are you using?
3) If you aren't using a portal system, was it difficult to design it?

QUOTE(jenya @ Jun 3 2005, 17:43)
the AT&T version of SMT5600 can be unlocked and works with cingular, how ever a lot of bugs occurr... 1) you always end up roaming back to ATT... Somehow ATT towers are hardcoded in to the Smartphone OS... Flashing to Cingulars ROM resolves all of those bugs.  Both carriers are carrying the exact same phone with the same OS how ever each carrier has custom tailored which towers are primary...(cheap trick to make customers think their service is better in my opinion)
*

My unlocked AT&T SMT5600 was on roaming since I bought it, unlocked it, and changed to Cingular (converted on 5/21). Then all of a sudden this past week... I have Cingular for a network and I am roaming no more. I've done all the steps in the rebranding and have no gripes at ALL about the phone or any quirks.

Anyone know why a phone would display AT&T and roaming for a few weeks and then just change one day?

OK I've got and old ATT SMT5600 that I have unlocked and switched my service to Cingular.  I get the roaming signal and can't connect to the internet despite following the guides here....
*

I have that same problem. I can connect to the internet, but I can't send any MMS messages. That roaming icon is driving me nuts, anyone had that problem here and fixed it? It shows it's roaming on the AT&T Network.

*edit*
I just unlocked my MPx200 from AT&T and with my Cingular SIM I get the same thing on my MPx200. I get the roaming icon like I do on the SMT 5600. What's going on with Cingular SIMs and unlocking and seeing the roaming icon?

I've tried that but my problem is that the registry is read-only. I'm going to try it some more but it seems as though something isn't getting completely unlocked.

bshadfan: press the call end button for 3 seconds to quickly lock the phone.

I had the same problem, but you can export the reg entries, edit, and then import them.

I am definately interested in getting the cingular rom as well. I did the conversion of my phone according to the guide I found here and I'm always getting a roaming symbol and still see AT&T Wireless as my network provider.

Sorry mate I didn't realise its not listed in profiles.  you have to press the power button for 2 seconds as mentioned above.  This is how I usually chnage my profiles

I did the same under WM2002, when I tried to access the quick list earlier I turned the dang thing off! Then again it's Monday and nothing feels right on a Monday.

I'm looking in profiles right now and there is nothing like that.

1. Normal
2. Silent
3. Meeting
4. Outdoor
5. Automatic
6. Headset
7. Car
8. Speakerphone

Is it listed somewhere else?

*edit*
in response to deenice, I wasn't pressing that button long enough apparently. Under WM2002 I didn't have to hold it so long. My bad, thanks for the info.

I am an AT&T customer as well, and have upgraded to 2003. So far it is working great and I haven't had any problems. Another PRO is you can now use wma files as ringtones and the caller ID problem seems to be fixed. I would highly recommend it.

Are you using the caller id app from the cd or are you using a different caller id application?

Just curious.

I am an AT&T customer and I did the upgrade last night. Aside from forgetting to hard reset the phone after I installed the 2003 and being stuck in German for awhile, it went pretty smooth and I'm glad I did it.

I'll have a chance to work with it more this evening when I get home. I still need to apply the MMS fix, but I have to decide if it's a feature I will use or not in the immediate future.

They are located there, for some contacts the ringer I select is used. One other contacts it isn't, it's like I have to go back and select it again.

Oh well, I'll that when I catch them I guess.
