QUOTE(shaggyguitarist @ Aug 1 2008, 17:31) *
I have a strange problem.

Im running Windows vista and an SPV3100. I use Windows mobile device centre to sync with outlook and have had very few problems. I also have Jeyo Mobile extender for outlook to sync my text messages

Lately I wasnt syncing as often, and there were lots of text messages to copy to my laptop. When it finished I noticed that the dates and times of recieving the text messages in outlook were different from the times on the phone.

On the phone it showed th actual recieving time, wheras on outlook it showed the time for all new mesages as the time when I synchronised. I have tried to reconnect and soft reset, then re-sync but doesnt seem to work.

I dont want to delete all messages from outlook and re sync, as I have them all organised into folders in outlook.

Has anyone else had this problem, or know of a simple fix?

Took a while, but finally figured out how to fix it. I went on another forum (jeyo) and just changed the outlook feild from recieved to sent. Seems the recieved feild logs the time outlook recieved the messages from my phone, wheras sent is the time my phone recieved the message, if you get my drift.

When you are in agenda view in the MS Calendar app I dont like the way it defaults to adding an appointment an hour long. Is there any way, perhaps in the registry, that you could change the default length of this time. I am sure other calendar apps can do it but I have never got on with them as I like the simplicity of the MS calendar for my purposes. I would be grateful if anyone knows if you can do this.

Not too sure how to do what your assking, but I have an issue with the time slots it offers for setting appointments...The time slots only go up in half hour slots. I would like to set appointments at 5 or 10 minute intervals. When I manually type in the time using the number pad, it goes to the nearest half hour, which is highly annoying if I have an appointment at 9.15, I can only set it for either 9.00 or 9,30.

When I create an appointment on outlook on the pc it will sync the correct time onto my device, but I cant seem to do it the other way round.

Hey Im back...I used to be on here every day when I had my mpx200, and c500, now ive had the c600 and just upgraded for £20/mth to the m3100.

One feature of the smartphones I had and loved was the automatic profile, where it would automatically go into vibrate mode when there was a calendar appointment set.

I dont seem to be able to find if this option is available on the device or if there is any software I can install to do this.

Anyone help?

Great phone, came today. I had the SPV c500 before from orange and this one knocks its socks off. The screen seemed smaller than my older phone but the quality of the screen is much neater! Happy customer smile.gif

Does tit have the orange backup program which was what I missed most when I went c600?

as a follow on question..

This was also an issue for me on the mpx200 and the c500...

Is there any way of making the keypad light come on when the phone is locked??

Its most annoying when trying to unlock the phone in the middle of the night to read a text,

There is no problem finding the unlock soft key, but how many attempts does it take to actually hit the * key ??

4 maybe?? try when your half asleep and see.

Is there a way to have the keypad lights come on so as to actually see the damn * key in the dark!!

I got my c600 today!! I spent ages last week moving everything I possibly could from my c500 onto the memory card ..then did an orange backup..

It was gonna be the 1st thing I did when my new phone was charged and registered, but no sign of the application.

My c500 is away for repair, Ill try and find the installation files for the application and send them to my 600.

Its the calander appointments which I desperately need on my new phone, as I saved all my contacts to the sim

I suppose I could do the labourious task of doing a backup to the c500 again and beaming every appointment to the 600 !!!

i tried installing the cert.cab.
I saved it to storage card/program files.
When i ran it, I got a message saying

Installation failed. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have adequate system permissions.

Any advice now? all i want is to unlock my phone to use O2 simcards.

thanx

Im interested in the standalone charger...I saw one on these forums somewhere, but couldnt get one in the UK.

Any help atr all?

I have found an attractive offer for a contract with 3g.
Im really not into this video calling stuff, but would simply like to use the 3g voice network on my spvc500.

If I network unlock will I be able to use ny spvc500 on this plan.
The guy in phone shop said that 3g use O2 for their voice, texts, GPRS etc.

I need to know this before I unlock my c500, thanks.

I owned the mpx200 for a year on contract to orange uk. I loved the phone, but the battery power was its weakness. I got a 256 mb card and it was fine, after 11 months of having the phone i thought Id buy the wee sd camera for the phone. it was pretty cool, but was majorly inconvenient, because u had to take out the sd card to use it, therefore limiting you to the storage space on the actual handset for your photos, defeating the purpose of the 256 card.
My battery eventually stopped charging just 25 days out of the warranty

I got a free upgrade to the c500 and am finding it great. Only thing i dont like about it is the lack of keypad lights. I post this problem here http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=...&st=0&p=551883&

Ive ordered a replacement battery for my mpx and if it charges in the phone, then i will sell it and all the accessories.

I like the c500 better, mostly cos of the extra storage memory, and camera, and bluetooth.

I love my new c500, except for the keypad lights.
I usually lock my keypad, but try unlocking it in the dark...
The keypad lights dont come on until you have actually unlocked the keypad, even if the light sensor is off.. I'm like duh! how am i supposed to see the right keys to press to actually unlock the thing..

Even more annoying is when u press the 9 key instead of #. Do this 3 times and it asks if u want to mak a 999 call!!

Is there a setting somewhere that'll let the keypad lighhts come on.

Please help me on this one.

I upgraded from motorola mpx200 to spv c500.

Last weekend, in my sleep, the alarm on my c500 went off, and i must have lifted my phone, took off the back cover and removed the battery, in my sleep

When i woke up, about 4 or 5 hours later i was lying on my phone with battery and back cover further down the bed.

Thankfully i didnt roll on the cover and break the catches, and i re-assembled the phone and turned it on.

Now I had no clue what time it was, cos my phone is my clock too...
But When i turned it on it said 12:00am on 12th October 2004.

I eventually figured out the correct time and date and fixed it...then the annoyance followed of hundreds of alarms and reminders going off 1 after the other

I know that the mpx200 had an internal battery to keep the clock etc in memory, does the c500 not have this also, and if not why not? I think it should be an essential feature... even my 6 year old microwave has a backup battery!!

I also just upgraded to c500 from mpx200, and noticed the same thing. Ihave task manager on speed dial 8 and i restarted the phone and went straight to task manager before the network had been found, and it says 9,856kb of free memory.
I never tried this with my mpx but remember it having problems running stuff if the free memory dropped below 9000kb.

Has anyone figured how it is so low?

I just upgraded to c500 from mpx200. i backed up just before my mpx died. I was never able to sync to my pc with my mpx, but with my c5oo I can at least get a recognition of my phone. I tried the version 3.8, and still get no success. any other suggestions?

My mpx was on 1 bar of power last monday, i plugged it in the mains then had to make a couple of calls, while it was still in the charger. I then noticed it wasnt charging when i plugged it into my pc, and thought my usb had a problem..But no it turns out that my mpx wont charge.
I did a orange backup, then hard reset, with what power was left, hoping that would cure it, but no luck. Now it only gets as far as the smartphone 2002 screen and dies.
I needed a phone, and as i was due an upgrade, I just upgraded to SPV c500, did a backup restore and am back online again.

The annoying thing is that It stopped working just 28 days over the manufacturers warranty

Do you think it just need a new battery (£40) or could I get it fixed.
I tried several motorolla repair lines, only to get no answer.

I'd really like to have my mpx back up and running again, so I can possibly sell it and all the accessories I have for it.

Also, the charger for my c500 has the same mini-usb connector, but is it a different voltage or somrthing, cos my old car charger wont charge my c500.

I just got my upgrade to spv c500 from mpx200 yestersday.
have to say Im impressed with the speed of the menus and have had no problems, except this...

The reminders i set dont seem to play the ringtone i set up for them, also they dont vibrate, as i use them as additional alarms, i am not waking up in time, and find the reminder on the screen but only the quietest 'dink' had been the ringtone..

I have checked over the settings, as far as I am aware, they are identical to the mpx, but dont understand why the ringtone i selected isnt working.

my problem is a wee bit different. when I power up the phone, the sms alert rings on the smartphone 2002 screen...The envelope symbol is in the top corner, but the counter is still on zero, when I open my inbox its empty.. Is the same proceedure gonna cure this?

i just bought the sd camera. I'm a bit confused though as to how to get the audio to record when making a video, I see the function to mute the sound, so surely the audiomust record if this is unchecked??

I didnt get detailed instructions with the camera, so It could be that ive just not fiddled enough yet..

also, Its annoying that i can only save files to my phones memory, and not my sd card which has to be in my pocket when using the thing!
It means i can only do about 10 seconds of video.
