i just bought an mpx 220 yesterday. my coworker has an audiovox 5600.

we was talking about how cool it would be if we could play the nes or gb emulators over our bluetooth connection. is something like that possible??

i know kalemsoft has an nes emulator to play over bluetooth, so is it possible with the ms smartphone??

im looking for an arcade emulator to be able to emulate games up to the late 80's early 90's. asteroids, centipede, etc have various clones that are available already. the golden age of arcade gaming to me was games like double dragon, outrun, afterburner, ninja gaiden, final fight, etc... i dont know how hard it is to emulate that hardware. i succumbed and got an mpx 220 against by better judgement, and this thing rocks BIG TIME. i know its powerful enough to run a game of the original streetfighter

On the C500 the performance is much more plausable... maybe 80% of real snes speeds for some roms.  Don't switch the sound on (maybe) as this causes the C500 to hang at the moment.

so what about the mpx220??

Hi all

I'm thinking about releasing a game engine, along with some tutorials to back it up, to show people how to make a full, but simple, game for the Smartphone.

The game engine will include all the code for setting up the window, dealing with keypresses, behaving nicely when a call comes in, and the basic blit routines to get graphics on the screen biggrin.gif.

And I wanted to gauge interest before I wade in..

(Deliberate cross-post with VC++ section)

i think more importantly, give us a tutorial on learning how to port pocket pc and some old win32 programs to the ms smartphone 2003

I will be buying a MPX220 in the near future (if it will just come out) from Best Buy.  I have my contract through T-Mobile so I understand I have to pay extra.  Will they un-lock the phone for me at best buy or do I have to contact someone?  I am kind of new to the high powered phone arena so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bryan

you know that might be accurate because i did not see a cingular branding on the case of the phone. when i went to best buy

I just bought mine from Best Buy in St Louis, and my cost went like this...
349.00 retail (activated or not)
100.00 mail in rebate from moto
50.00 from best buy for 2 year agreement

then you got lucky--because it's supposed to be 500.00 no contract

ok ok, i just seen the mpx220 at a best buy near me. it looked really cool, but it didnt "wow" me the way i thought. i paid 400 for my mpx200. 599 for my treo 270, and even 249 for my old black and white sidekick, but nothing in me could bring me to shell out the 500 dollars and change for this phone. having to buy a mini sd card, car charger, and paying to get the phone unlocked helped some with that decision. i think im going to go with sprint and wait for the new treo 650 coming soon

well, how do emulators run on the moto mpx220. most new phones coming out have a multipress issue. my phones are used primarily for entertainment so i have to have something good on games. so do the emulators play at full speed. does the pocketsnes run at a decent enough speed?? i cant imagine playing snes games on a cell phone. maybe we might get a picodrive with sound also. running emulators is the only reason im waiting on the mpx 220 and havent already jumped on the new audiovox 5600 phone.

a nes emulator with bluetooth multiplayer????? thats going just a little way beyond a regular port dont you think? surely that would mean changing the games themselves, not the emulation as the data required to be sent via BT would be different for every game

well hell go to www.kalemsoft.com and see for yourself. palm has an nes emulator with bluetooth multiplayer capability. i know if palm can do it than it can probably be done on smartphone also

rumor has it that the developer of smartnes took the source code and has pretty much vanished into thin air. dont know whats up with these emulator developers. a guy developed an nes/gb/gamegear/mastersystem emulator. he made the demo and sept 1 it expired and no one heard from him since either. if you are a developer, can you look into maybe a nes emulator that supports bluetooth multiplayer functions. kalemsoft made one but its for the palm os. with all these next generation smartphone phones coming out

im going with the mpx 220. the c500 has issues with multi key presses and im a big time gamer. the 220 has dual 200mhz processors. i think one is for the graphics and math. damn thing is going to be fast as hell. im hoping i can run the snes emulator at fool speed with it. playing streetfighter on your phone would be so nice

you know, the problem sounds very similar to the problem i had with my mio 8390. i noticed it when playing any emulator. my trusty mpx200 is the only phone that can play my games the way i need them to. i use my smartphones for gaming and watching movies so this is important to me. i got excited about the tmobile sda but it looks like it has a multi press problem. looks like i will be going with the mpx 220

Hey!!!!

Now I was also one of the many people who was blown away by this app, and I have to admit, I too am a little disappointed that Bitbank will not be completing this app for us anytime soon.

But aren't you guys being a little harsh???  After all, Bitbank didn't have to release his beta here, and furthermore, the fact that he did, shows how commited he is to the progression of smartphone apps in general.

Me thinks some people have just got too greedy, and expect everything for free.  Granted, it would be nice to have this app working properly, but considering I didn't pay a red cent for it, who am I to complain???   [-X

Bitbank, I personally wanna say cheers, and I look forward to any future software developed by your clever self (free or otherwise!!)

Anywho, im off to finish playing Streetfighter Alpha on my smartphone.....

i just want to know how to register and pay for the damn thing

Yawn. Another timewaster that promises the earth and delivers nothing. What is it with Smartphone developers?  :?

i know, this emulator puts me on a high 2 mins at a time!! i dont think the man knows that when you become a programmer for a company, your work becomes theirs. and when you quit, your work is still theres!! i wish he would just release the damn emulator to us, oh and fix the sega master system screen

The problem is not the rights to the code.  I am self-employed and own everything in this project.  The problem is that I am now working with the game companies on commercial projects.

This code will find its way into a retail product for SmartPhone some day, but I'm not sure when.

I'll be showing it off at the HP Mobility Roadshow next week in Fort Lauderdale.  Maybe I can convince someone from Sprint, T-Mobile or AT&T that it is worth licensing the game titles.

nintendo is pretty strict when it comes to emulators and such. do you think its going to fly?? im just trying to purchase this thing now, then you can do whatever the hell you want with it

stopping the project?? i understand, i am a programming major. most companies that hire you have you sign a contract that releases the rights to every piece of code you write. dont know if you ran into that situation, but thats what it sounds like.

can you at least release the code or make it freeware, or something since we cant buy it now?? i NEED this.
