I'm trying to get my PC to perform active sync with both my PDA and my mobile, which are both connected via USB. I synchronised my mobile, and now i have multiple calendar entries, and that sort of thing, as i had the calendar entries already copied over to both devices, if that makes sense. I just want both my PDA and my mobile to have the same calendar entries, so that they both remind me to go places, and have the same contact details, etc.

Do you recon' you'd be able to get some software for your PDA that will allow it to act as a headset device?

Wow, that's cool! I'll give that a try. Just ordered myself a USB bluetooth dongle! Anything else cool I can do with it, and my Qtek 8080?

This might be a bit of a strange question, but it makes sense to me. Can you bind a mobile phone to a PDA via bluetooth, and then use the PDA's mic and speaker for the audio to come through? It could also notify you on your PDA if your phone is ringing, and you should be able to make calls from your PDA, and your mobile just dials them and acts as a means for the PDA to connect.

Tell me i'm not being strange, tell me it can be done!

Thanks! smile.gif

I must apologise, because I know you get these sort of posts a lot, but i'm lost for other solutions! This phone worked fine out of the box, it ran any application i put on there no problems. then I had to reset it, because it stopped responding - i did this by removing the battery and then putting it back in. It seemed, that this reset the phone altogether, as in - i had no contacts, etc, but anyway - that wasnt the problem. since this reset, it was application locked! i've tried the link on the orange website, which tells me that my IMEI number isn't registered, and i've also tried emailing the developer@orange.com guy, who sent me a program to run, but that also said that my IMEI number wasn't as expected.

what would my next step be? there must be another way to do this!

That's silly though. If you didn't want a phone that you could tinker with, why did you ever throw your Nokia 3310 away? If we didn't demand Microwave ovens in our watches, technology wouldn't advance! [/rant]

I think the default home screen looks pretty neat, and with a different colour from the default, as well as a groovy background picture, it's all good. i would like to add some subtle bits though, such as my whereabouts using the excellent CellTrack plugin, as well as remaining space and battery power, all of which I have installed. I don't know however, how I can use the information these plugins are generating, and I would love to know how to add this information to the default windows homescreen. i cannot find an xml file for the default one, only a .hif file, and hence can't see a way of doing it...

any help would, as always, be appreciated!

thanks! yeah, turns out I was being a fool and opened a .cab thinking it was another archive containing stuff to be copied over to the phone.

i remembered another question i had. i used to use this interface on my PC to "upload" and "download" send files to my smartphone. I say upload because it acted like an FTP interface. could anybody tell me the name of this program? i can't for the life of me remember it...

I absolutely LOVE this idea so much. I love the idea of programs that make you aware of the electronics, and systems that are in use all around you, all the time, without you even knowing. If you just brush past someone, and your phone alerts you that you talk to this person, and you have an email waiting from them, that's just amazing! absolutely FANTASTIC job to the coders, if I can help in any way with this project I will be more than happy to.

hello again! I posted here a while ago, when I had my trusty Orange SPV that simply gave up the ghost after a while, and couldnt read my sim card any more. tried cleaning the pins, tried all sorts, to no avail.

anyway, I stuck with a Sony Erricsson phone for about 5 months, but couldnt take it any longer - it came to me - once you've had smartphone, you never go back!

Anyway, now that I am back (with a QTek 8080) I have a few questions that I swear i had figured out last time, but can't for the life of me remember...

1) What can you all tell me about plugins? i want handy little utilities that can either be used to prettify my homescreen (i study computer science, and we all know us computer geeks love stats, smartphone temp, smartphone fan speed, network traffic, etc....(if only..) hehe)

2) how on earth do you install programs that are not .cab, or .exe or come with an installer? i had a program (battery monitor i think it was) that was just an XML file, and a .001 file, tried running the xml file on the phone (just in case) but nothing happened. am I an idiot?

Thanks! there were more questions, but I forgot - i'll post when i remember! thanks in advance!

Some of you may remember a few months ago when my Orange SPV would simply not connect to any networks. It would say no signal, or to check the SIM and try again. The phone is unlocked, and i tried various SIM cards, including o2 ones and Orange ones, with no luck on any of them.

I bought this mobile through eBay, and i fear that it may have been stolen, or something like that and now the original owner has somehow asked orange to 'lock' that IMEI number, or something like that. would that be possible? if so, what can i do to make the phone usable again? i've had to go back to my T68i for the meantime, so please do have some sympathy... hehe.

someone suggested updating / reinstalling the firmware, which I did - but no luck.

any help would really be appreaciated!

thanks in advance,

madhatter

.....how would i know if the handset has been blocked?! i've cleaned the connectors on the mobile, and on the SIM itself numerous times, that's what I thought it was at first.

i have just inserted my old orange sim, and am still getting "No Service"

I don't understand though, it's only been doing this recently. I dont see why it would have just stopped functioning like that...

Under the network settings, i have "Current network: No service" and the network selection is set to automatic. I think I may as well try flashing the latest ROM again.

I'll let you know how it goes...

Thanks for your help!

My Original SPV (which is unlocked and using an o2 sim) has been playing up lately, in that i keep getting "No Service" and occsaionally "check the sim is inserted correctly, blah blah".
I can't make any calls, receive calls, send or receive texts, or anything that would involve the use of a network. I've tried the same SIM in my old phone and it works fine, i'm able to make calls and everything lovely.

What's going on?

My old phone was a Sony Ericsson T68i and I have all my contacts stored in the phone's memory, as opposed to on the SIM. I've been trying to send all my contacts to my PDA, i've tried bluetooth and i've tried infrared, but not all the information seems to be sent - for example I only have the work phone numbers for some, but not the mobile or home numbers. Is there a program I can use (preferrably free) that I can just send my contacts via infrared to my Orange SPV ?

Thanks!
