My C500 running WM6.1 is actually a pretty decent phone, but it lacks processor speed, standby time, wifi, QVGA, USB2.0, updated design etc etc. But sizewise it rocks compared to my S710 (which I sold) and to my S730 (which I never use) and to my Mteor which is a piece of crap. |

Hi Paul.. You probably allready know my question, but please ask it anyway, because I´m probably not the only one interested. When will HTC release a smartphone (non-professional) and without QWERTY, but with the plain old keyboard? (Like a HTC Typhoon 2008/9-version) A handy candybar phone with decent stand by time, wifi etc etc etc. /J |

The code indicates that the ssl certificate common name is incorrect or do not match. Look in Start/ ActiveSync/ Menu/ Options/ Server Settings/ Connections, then check the correct server name is entered Hi Awarner. Nope - everything is correct. It is a MS bug when exchange syncing 6.1. I need to find a workaround or a registry hack to fix it. :-) /jakob |

Anyone with a solution to errorcode 80072f06 when syncing C500 with WM6.1 to an Exchange server? Its pretty annoying not being able to syncronize when everything else works flawlessly. /J |

http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/01/06/...mobile-roadmap/ And still there is no candybar device on the way.. I know Vodafone are pretty conservative but a whole year of nothing but big and bulky QWERTY devices. Come on - where´s the candybar device for us people who´d like to carry the phone in our jeans and not bring a trolley for our phones? Sigh... (And yes - at present time I´m using a S710 because my good old C500 broke down.. But it´s like bringing a brick to work everyday compared to the C500) /J |

Did you notice that the smartphone market took over the PDA market? Yes.. But phone companies are screwing things up. A smartphone is a phone with computer like functionality Wiki - a PDA is a handheld computer with phone like functionality Wiki . I can´t see why HTC stopped making phones (apart from the S310 and the crappy Mteor (Yes, I have one)). All other products from HTC (today I can count 19 (!) at htc.com) are all PDA´s - some of them with a keyboard - some without. What really would impress the market would be a successor to the C500 - a phone(!) with the specs of the S730 but without the spacewasting keyboard. My best guess is that you would shave of 3mm of the thickness. And instead of being 25% bigger than the C500 they would actually be same size (based on volume). A product like that would sell big time, because the only NokiaProduct will be the N95 and SE would be P1i. But; I´m really looking forward to see the S730 on the streets. /J |

I'd love to see a super slim smartphone with the specs of S730 without the sliding qwerty keyboard I do totally agree with you... Why o Why do they keep having these utterly useless keyboards in a PHONE? If I want a keyboard I´d rather buy a PDA. That said - then I have to buy this one, ´cause my C500 is simply worn out (and the specs look good) /Jakob |

Thanks for the link, but it doesnt work. I installed tha application on my Mteor, but it doesnt resolve the cell-names.. Do you know of any other celltrack application ? BEst regards J Hello. I don't know if you are using an official WM5 device or just a C500 running WM5 but a while back "The Doctor" managed to get Celltrack running on WM5. I don't know if this is of any use though. http://www.modaco.com/CellTrack-WM5-D-t244...mp;hl=celltrack |

Yes, Encece - exactly. (and I still prefer my C500 to my Mteor..) (Yes, the screen is nice, but the keyboard layout is not as good and the batterylife is lousy.) /Jakob Exactly... But would the VOX be a VOX without the slide out keyboard? One would just need a C600 with WM6. The VOX is the only phone that has tempted me so far...the keyboard is nice...but not necessary at all for me. But thinner would definitely be better. I'd like a... WM6 Smartphone No Keyboard Quadband + Edge + 3G + WiFi C600 sized or smaller. Super-Duper Battery And throw in GPS if thats not asking too much |

I'm thinking you know encece, much as I love the Vox, I love T9 so much - do I really need a QWERTY? Would I rather have a thinner Vox? P Haha... Sound like my words in another of our threads I´d definately prefer a Vox without the QWERTY. Yes - the Graphite looks good and so does the specs - except for the lack of WM6. Why-O-Why doesn´t HTC produce a front-line smartphone again?? /J |

It´s a 1/3 heavier - and that´s brick-like in comparison. Theres is absolutly NO reason to put a QWERTY keyboard in a smartphone - we´ve got plenty of PDA-phone/PC-devices containing keyboards. If HTC dumped the keyboard, it would probably be possible to make the Vox2 = 46x102x14mm and 100grams.. (about 25% smaller than C500) That would be interesting. /Jakob Orange C600: 46mm x 108mm x 18mm, 105g HTC S710 'Vox': 50mm x 102mm x 18mm, 140g Hardly a brick is it? P |

I totally agree with You moonshot. To me - the present HTC Smartphone Portfolio sucks (in comparison to the C500). I´d really like HTC to step up and build us a proper smartphone (again). A phone does not have a QWERTY-keyboard - period. If it has a keyboard its a PDA-phone/Windows PCdevice A PDA might have phone-functionality - then its a PDA-phone. The Vox is not a smartphone - its a PDA-phone. A phone has to be small (jeans-pocket-size/C500) and have a reasonable standbytime (not Mteor 1½ days w/o BT). If I want a brick aka Nokia aka Vox I´d buy one. But what I want, is a smartphone. /jakob |

C600? Not much of a step up I know but you are geting WM5 and the QVGA screen ...... You´re right.. I thought about it numerous times. It would just seem plain strange to "upgrade" to a 1½ year old device. I just think that HTC should get their a... together and release a decent Smartphone (instead of these boring PDA wannabe Smartphones) /J |

Well - I´ve got the Mteor. But: Standby-time is less than 2 days, the back cover keeps falling of in the pocket and it is to big. So I´ve actually switched back to my C500 because it works so much better than the Mteor. The only thing the C500 doesn´t have is the nice screen in the Mteor. (and Edge/3G - but I can do without it) /J Some would say the Metor was the follow up to the C500 (C600). Just because Orange decided not to distribute it is not down to HTC. Personally I like the keyboard, roll on the successor to the Excalibur |
