I know, I LOVED my Kaiser, but it's almost like my time with the Diamond and Omnia has made me realise I like thin more than a hardware keyboard, especially since the software keyboards are getting so good.

It's really hard, and I plan to use the Touch Pro for a while to see if I fall back in love with a hardware keyboard again! biggrin.gif

P

if i were going to go for a device without hardware input tho, it would have to be one like the omnia with the extra screen height - so you can have nice big SIPs without loosing too much screen realestate

Well we shall soon see tomorrow when I get it.

With my current 8gb Micro sdhc card, I will have a wacking 22gb of storage space on this device.

Should be good for films etc on all of my plane rides I have coming up. Cant wait!

Cheers

Phill

16 + 8 = 24 wink.gif

i'm increasingly tempted by one of these but need to play with a touch pro before i decide. i had a play the the tocco the other day and if the screen is anything like that, i doubt this'll be for me...

I've had my Exec since they came out and luckily mine's fine! Seems to be a common problem though...

I'd love to strip it down and use it as an in-car media player / sat nav tho tongue.gif

Ash, I'm sure you'd know if this was possible, can the keyboard/screen ribbons be extended? Would love to mount the kb under the steering column, the screen in the dash and have the main hardware hidden away somewhere with the sim slot, power and volume buttons relocated in easy reach.

Mixtikl is the evolution of a niche, yet excellent, music mixing application called miniMIXA. miniMIXA was previously available for PocketPC and Smartphone for many years and even won a Bafta award! However, when owners Tao Group went bust just over a year ago, development of the third version of miniMIXA stopped. Luckily though, the real brains behind the software (Tim & Peter Cole - also the brains behind KOAN), managed to buy back the rights to the software they previously created and owned (before Tao took over) and went back into business.

Fast forward to the now and Intermorphic are gearing up to release Mixtikl to mobile music makers everywhere. Of course, Mixtikl will be coming to WM at launch but they also have plans for iPhone support and S60 support further down the line. The iPhone support may be a long time coming though as Apple impose certain restrictions on developers that Intermorphic were not willing to adhere to. That being said, Apple's loss is WinMo's gain as development is pressing on with a view to release October time.

Having reviewed the original miniMIXA app way back in 2004 (and loved it!), I can't wait to see what Mixtikl will have to offer! miniMIXA really was a truly unique piece of software. Being able to produce music that would change as you were producing it (using a generative music engine) was an amazing experience so I have high hopes for Mixtikl. Kudos to Tim & Pete for keeping their head in the game and not letting the demise of Tao Group take their awesome software out of the public domain.

in short, yes.

however, in the interest of not letting this get out of hand, i'll think everyone should just leave it there.

We have been provided a link to a free unlocker for the HTC Diamond which, I have on good authority, works. We are not hosting the software, merely reporting it's existance.

QUOTE(benzo @ Jul 28 2008, 11:35) *
Hi All,

I want to register a domain name but have been burnt in the past by supposedly decent registration companies that registered the domain name under their name and when I wanted to transfer the name, they refused.

So I basically want a decent company that is officially an accredited registrar that can host my domain. I am willing to pay more of course (i've learnt my lesson, you pay for what you get!).

Thanks.

Benzo

I've been with Godaddy for a few years for domain reg and they're been great. If you want some advice, always try and keep your email, domain name and hosting seperate incase things go wrong. I have hosted Gmail for my email, Godaddy for my domain name and Hostingpuppy for my hosting. When Hostingpuppy's DNS servers went down recently, I was able to revert back to Godaddy's DNS servers, get my email back up and point my domain directly to my Hostingpuppy server (which was still up). If I'd had everything with Hostingpuppy, I'd have been screwed tongue.gif

Godaddy also give you free (ad-supported) hosting, email and allow private registrations.

An anonymous source has just provided me with a link to a patched HTC Diamond radio which will SIM unlock your Diamond....for free! biggrin.gif

Obviously, as the source is anonymous and I haven't rushed out to get myself a Diamond yet, I can't personally validate the claim so if you flash this radio, you do so at your own risk, we can't be held liable etc. etc. tongue.gif

QUOTE
How to free unlock your diamond.
Tools you need:
Hard spl 1.40 for diamond (locate it at xda-developers)
DiamondCustomsRUU.exe flasher (same locate it at xda-developers.. is included in any custom rom flasher )
atcmd.exe (search for it)

Steps:
1. Flash hard spl 1.40
2. Flash the radio included in this package
3. Send using atcmd this:
AT@SIMLOCK=0,1,22051978
AT@SIMLOCK=0,2,22051978
AT@SIMLOCK=0,4,22051978
AT@SIMLOCK=0,8,22051978
AT@SIMLOCK=0,16,22051978
AT@SIMLOCK=0,32,22051978

Voila. Unlocked.

Roaming around the web as I do, I came across quite a startling post over on PocketGPSWorld:

QUOTE
This is sure to cause a stir. A German court has ruled that a navigation application running on a Smartphone cannot be used whilst driving.

Because the use of phones whilst driving is illegal, a court in Cologne has ruled that drivers using a satellite navigation system installed on a phone are infringing Section 23, Paragraph 1 of the German Highway Code.

The full text can be read here (in German) and here translated although you should be aware that Google's translator misinterprets the German for driving as 'tax' because the German for 'steering wheel' and 'tax' are the same.

Is this just a case of German efficiency, or could the UK soon fall foul? Here's hoping our legal system doesn't take the law about operating a phone whilst driving too literally...

[Source]

EDIT: My other half just pointed out that if you took the sim out, it wouldn't technically be a phone...good thinking batman!

Not rushed out and bought a Diamond (HTC P3700) yet? Not totally sold on it's angular design? Like the MDA Compact IV but not the T-Mo branding or the ugly, grey battery cover? Then allow me to introduce the HTC Victor (P3702)! Whilst it may be slightly bigger than the "original" Diamond, the P3702 has a few subtle differences:
  • Different stylus design
  • Doesn't sit flat on a desk due to raised portion of battery cover
  • Raised d-pad for greater ease of use
  • Different button layout
  • More "defined" design around the speaker
  • Won't fit in the standard Diamond Brodit holder
...couple all that with what I consider to be a much nicer, curvier design and what appears to be a nice touchy-feely coating on the battery cover and you've got quite a device! I wasn't 100% sold on the standard Diamond design but this has certainly turned my head! biggrin.gif

The Victor is out now in the Asian market but it's as yet unkown if it'll head to our shores. You can catch some pics of this puppy being unboxed HERE by "PDA-King".
