if this is novice like to ask then my bad, but what exactly does cleartype do? ive heard it mentioned now and then but dont know what it does!?

let me know and i might get it!  ohmy.gif (PM me if ya can)
*

basically it smooth's out the fonts on the phone to stop the outlines looking rough.

That attachment shows my start menu. if you look at the text you will notice the lack of rough lookingness of them. The fonts do look better on the phone when its running then in the attachment.

Not to sure if its been pointed out before but you can fully decert you phone using the orange developer site that you use to decert your spv/e100/e200 (http://developer.orangews.com/orgspv/comdef.aspx). This site does not mention anything about working on the c500 but it does. I was using the 4.2.1.1 rom

1. decert you phone (http://developer.orangews.com/orgspv/comdef.aspx)
2. download the cleartype cab from this thread (http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=96691)
3. copy the cab to the phone.
4. use s program like smart explorer to execute the cab from the phone
5. wait
6. should say installation successful. If it says the the program did not have enough permision to install then you phone isnt fully decert.
7. reboot your phone
8. enjoy

well I got a T-mobile SDA and I did read something about appl unlock but do I need that?
*

I had same problem fix is easy enough.

*Copy the analogue clock plugin to your mobile phone first, i put it in my document.
*Then use a file brouser to launch the plugin installer and it should say install suucsess full.

* Then restart your phone
* then change to home screen from the hl2 HS to any other one then click ok
* then change it back to the hl2 one

You must completely change your home screen and make sure its changed before changin it back. This forces the OS to reload the HS with the plugin in place.

Good work on the homescreen. Now if you can change the volume, call etc icons then it will be awsome.

The system's ram will not fill up because you put more porgrm's in the internal storage. THe e200 has a single shared internal storage that is broken up for o/s, ram, files. the 64mb is where the os and the ram resides and the other 32~ is for programs. Keep programs you use alot on the phone and all your media on the Memory cards

The Max size for the SSD card should be the max addressable size of the FAT32 file sytem as that is the format that the sd card uses and i think the Internal sorage two. I think the max size of fat32 is something like 4TB (Terra Bytes).

The Card reader on the E200 was never the best on in existance and with large cards it's better to get yourself a card reader for your desktop as they are a hell of a lot faster then the E200 at transfering data to storage

First of i got most of the settings from this thread:
http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...ight=e200+modem

Readme E200 as USB* Modem on any network (v.01)
===================================

1) TAKE THE PHONE OUT OF THE DOCK

2) on the e200 goto accesiores and open the "modem link" software. Change the conection type to usb.

3) goto menu-> activate then stick your phone back into the dock.

4) windows will detect a new usb device. install the drivers manually

5) when the drivers have been installed goto start->controll pannel->phones and modems.

6) Choose the HTC Usb Modem and choose Properties and Advanced. In the initialisation String box use:

Right now here is the hard bit. as every network requires a diffrent access point you need to know what access point your phone uses to conect to the net. That said if you go into you phone conection settings and look at the gprs conection

settings the access point you need it in there eg:

02 payg: payandgo.o2.co.uk

Orange: orangeinternet

also the username and password that you will need are in your conection settings in your phone.

Now wheren you know your access point append the following string and put it as the modem int setting.

+cgdcont=1,"IP","conectionpointgoeshere","",0,0

7)Now create a new dial up connection
7a) The phone number is *99#
7b) the User name and password are in your phone data conection settings where you got the acces point if from

8) conect and enjopy.

Drivers should be hosted on the bottom of the page curtosy of madco. however if they are not do a search for e200 usb modem and you will get links to them.

Im using windows xp and the original person(jtsaint) was using windows server. If you have any success on any other networks

and o/s please leave what o/s and what the settings you used for other people.

PS my conection speed was 224Kb/s on o2 (usin wap not gprs).

Happy surfing :)

* there is no reson Y the settings would not work if you changed the settings to bluetooth.

QUOTE
I have the Orange standard 2.7.1.1 rom and its developed an interesting little feature - in the middle of writing a text message, if you need either a g, h, i or a 4 the key seems to stick down and won't stop spinning through the 4 characters.

I figured it was a hardware fault but speaking to SPV directly they said there's been lots of faults logged exactly the same (on the same key) and it therefore must be a software issue.

If you have an E200 on an older rom and are thinking of upgrading it, I'd avoid 2.7.1.1 if you use text much.

This phone has been more trouble than its worth.

acttually that meens yur phone is broke. happens to a lot of peaople.

my e200 lost my mem card and refused to read it so i powered it down and disconected the gbaterey and left it for a coupe of hours while working then put the card back in powered the unit up and it worked. You shouldnt need to leave the untit pwered down that long though. take out the batery for about 15 minutes
