Take a look at the Nokia N95, N95 8GB, or N82 if you want a really camera focussed variant. Either one comes with built in GPS (but really needs extra software like Copilot), arguably the best camera available, a decent size screen (though still QVGA), great media player, Safari based browser with built in Flash video, free downloadable Exchange Activesync client for push mail etc. The N82 has slightly better battery life and a slightly smaller screen but comes with a zenon flash rather than LED. |

They are not cheap phones, but would you want to be paying another X on top just to add a feature that would, ultimately, suck anyway? Even the best mobile phone cameras in the world suck. 3.2 megapixels, digitial-only zoom, no flash, and no macro-mode? Bletch. At the moment I can't see anyone using mobile phones in any sort of photography persuit that demands quality, so why worry about it? When phones start producing images like this: http://www.gadgetoid.com/wp-content/upload...05/r0011597.jpg I might give up the separate camera. For now, I'd rather the Touch Pro was as cheap as possible because it's certainly not replacing my digital camera! Phone cameras are not (yet) designed for pro photographer or even hobbiests. They are designed for the 99.5% of people who would never think to put a camera in their pocket when they leave the house but would still like to be able to take a decent snap when the occasion arises. I use a Nokia N95 as my main phone at the moment but I would consider returning to full time WinMob use if the cameras were comparable. There are a lot of people who thing the same thing. By the way, there are camera phones on the market with real flash, optical zoom etc. |

Hi everyone. I was just curious, I've been searching for a few days now but can't seem to find a 'working' agenda-like program. For example: -Daily homework assignments. -Daily due dates. if anyone knows what I mean and can help me out, that would be wonderful ! Thanks alot! -Colin. Hehe. As much as I love windows mobile, and find it improving all the time, I can't help but want something a bit more reliable. Looking at the N95 there was a dodgey batch, but the others are amazing. I was looking at the touch and the iPhone as well but the N95 simply out-spec'd them both. That and I graduate this year so I might need this model to work full-time, my handset << is actualy out of date, I've had a C600 for the last 18 months. That is to say I've had 13 C600's in the last 18 months... I'm going to finish this post quick so it's submitted at 13:37... edit: Nooooooo 13:38.... Yeah so basically I may return to windows mobile in the future but it's going to be symbian for the next 18 months... edit to edit: And from what I've heard the only differences between the N95 and N95 8Gb are as such: ╔════════════╤════════════ ══════╗ ║ Nokia N95░░░░│Nokia N95 8Gb░░░░░░░░░║ ╠════════════╪════════════ ══════╣ ║Micro SD Slot░░░│8Gb internal memory░░░║ - O2 provide a 8Gb memory card with N95 ╟────────────┼──────────── ──────╢ ║Camera Shutter░│No Camera Shutter░░░░░║ ╟────────────┼──────────── ──────╢ ║950mAh Battery░│1200mAh Battery░░░░░░║ - Buying a 3000mAh battery from a reccomended seller on ebay ╟────────────┼──────────── ──────╢ ║Comes with maps│Comes with Spiderman 3║ - I can download Spiderman 3 ╚════════════╧════════════ ══════╝ Basically on the deal I'm getting this phone is a bargin - they'd have to offer me money to go for HTC again over this phone... Does anyone knowwhy my table is messed up (apart from the non-monospace fonts) I switched from WM to N95 last year. There are a couple of things i still miss from WM (T9 dialling in the standby screen, slightly better alternatives for 3rd party PIM programs) but the overall package of the N95 is simply awesome! The specs are great, the build quality, though not up there with a Nokia dumb phone, is better than any HTC device I have ever owned, and the sheer reliablity and strength of the phone is tremendous. If there is signal to be grabbed the Nokia grabs it and doesn't let go. Bluetooth is perfect with every headset and car kit I have tried. Suprisingly, syncing with Exchange is as easy as WM and syncing to Outlook is actually easier and less error prone! I've got to say though, if I were buying now I probably look at the N82 over the N95. The camera is better and the rest of the functionality is the same but the overall size of the package is significantly less and the N82 also has a lot more RAM. I am back in the market for a WM device now though, not to replace the N95 but to use along side it. I have changed job and I need a heavy PIM again for controlling a complex set of plans/task lists. Hence I'm scouting these boards again... With regards to forums the best ones are AllAboutSymbian.com, and Symbian-Freak.com. As Dr Who says, some of the people there are a bit "over enthusiastic" but not really anymore so than on other forums. |

Hi, Have any of you esteemed pocket PC experts tried streaming audio from the BBC radio player or downloading video podcasts? I am thinking of getting a Kaiser as replacement for my Nokia N95. A bit of intraspection turned up the fact that I often use it for listening to Radio 4 comedy programmes and and viewing video podcasts. Does WM6 come with software to do that kind of thing? When I tried this kind of thing with my old Universal it didn't seem able to get audio via PIE or to be able to download video programmes automatically on a schedule. If there's nothing built in is there any freeware that will do the trick? I think you need Realplayer to use the BBC site. Is that available for WM6? Thanks in advance xerxes |

My mistake if i said it had wm5 on it I don't think I did though. This has always had wm6 on it. I will take a picture tonight when it gets late and post it up. This rom is not complete by a long shot look at the version on the device its a beta/test so I am sure everything will be better in the rom that get shipped on the device. Hi xxnoelzixx, Can you tell us if the Kaiser can shoot VGA res video, and if so how many frames per second you get? Video recording is the main thing I really like about my N95. Thanks, Xerxes |

Alright there are a few questions that I have that I hope someone might be able to help me with. First question I have is has anyone figured out a way to get push email if they are not running on a MS Exchange Server, is there anyway around this. And if there is, is there any free way around it?. Option 1. Go to www.mail2web.com and sign up for a personal hosted Exchange account. This won't cost a penny and will give you an Exchange account that you can use for push email. There is also another version which costs about £1.20 per month which allows you to send returns from a different email address e.g. your emails look like they are coming from your existing Gmail.com account rather than from mail2web.com. This is what I am doing. Option 2. The same as option 1 except using of the many other hosted Exchange service providers. Option 3. Use Emoze (www.emoze.com) Option 4. Buy a Blackberry and use the Blackberry Internet Client Second-I have gmail set up as one of my mail clients, and I have it set up that it automatically connects every 15 mins, now during everyupdate or at the end of the day the emails are gone from the Inbox on my phone. |

Thanks guys, Kaiser looks very interesting, apart from the 240x320 display. Do you know if WM6 allows a QVGA device to display IE in high res the same way it does on a VGA device like the Universal? |

Is there a PPC running WM6 Pro with a side slide keyboard, Wifi, Bluetooth and built in GPS yet? If so can anyone tell me which is smallest? I've recently been playing with an XDA Exec running WM6 and it's got me thinking about going back from Symbian to the Tao of Gates but I definitely need something smaller than the Exec if it's going to travel in pocket everyday. |

I have just Pre-Ordered the new Motorola t605. It's only $139, it has A2DP, AVRCP, and Standard Hands-Free Profiles. That means you can stream Stereo music from your Excalibur to your car stereo, talk on the phone on the car stereo speakers, and skip to the next track, pause and such using the small control pad that mounst on the dashboard or steering wheel. If you have the new Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 (which works AWESOME) you can control all audio and phone calls by voice! (example: Say "Play Disturbed" it will find your music by the group Disturbed and play it. Say "Next Track" it does just that. Say "Call John Smith" guess who it calls?) Do you know if you can activate Voice Command via the button on a bluetooth headset? I had an earlier version running on an iMate Jam which was ok but you had to press a hard button on the Jam to activate the program. |

I have been using for a couple of days. It seems pretty good to me (on Samsung SGH-i320). Loads quickly, no crashes so far and I like to format of the pages. It also avoids all the annying website auto-reformatting to xHTML or WAP which happens with other browsers - even some which are supposed to report themselves as full html....only problem is it is missing HTTPS in the version I have installed, but I note this is deliberate in the current release. It is not perfect but I think I prefer it to the MS default browser. What's different about the formatting? Can you upload any screenshots? |

Can anyone recommend a good carkit for the Excalibur? I am looking for one that can be fitted, not one that plugs into the cigar lighter socket. I was thinking about the Nokia CK7W. Does anyone know if that will work? |

What kind of battery life do you guys get? Can you get through a couple of working days? I use my mobile for business a lot. Mainly voice calls (a couple of hours a day at a guess) and texts but also some TomTom, a lot of PIM and some web information lookup. My current phone gets me through 2 days pretty easily and 3 at a stretch. Can the HP match that? I'd love a built in GPS and WiFi... |

When that issue's eliminated, then I think a lot more people will be interested. So how exactly is the bizarre marketing stunt supposed to work? I'm interested because it sounds ridiculous and pointless, and like corporate spam on MoDaCo masquerading as a third party... P I can understand you not liking the way this was posted but Emoze does actually work pretty well and it's a god-send for anyone (like me) who works in a company where the email server is behind a vpn and IT thinks mobile access means Blackberry, Blackberry or Blackberry. |

I just purchased a T-Mobile Dash in order to keep up with my emails. I travel quite a bit internationally, so my roaming charges have been quite high. I have recently purchased several local SIMS cards at the countries where I travel the most to try to cut down on the roaming charges. However, my T-Mobile pushmail does not work when I switch out the SIMS card. Is there a pushmail service out there that can work with any/all service providers? I can manually send/receive, but that gets to be a pain after a while. Thanks in advance! Take a look at mail2web.com |

Mine is a small office, so we do not use an Exchange server. Ours is a POP3 email account. We also use MSOutlook 2003 on our desktop machines. These are set to retrieve email from the server every minute and delete them from the server when they are in Outlook. When I got the phone, I set it to leave messages on the server for 7 days, so the phone could retrieve them. This is all fine, except that this doubles the emails - a copy on the phone and a copy on my desktop). This becomes a problem when I am out of the office for a few days and sort through a few hundred emails and delete the ones I am through with on the phone. Then, when I get back in the office, I have to resort the damn things and delete the ones from my desktop Outlook. A real time waster. Will the setup you described work? Will my sent/repy to emails come from my POP3 email address or will it be to the other one? Mail2web has an option (costs approx $2 per month) that allows you to use any FROM address you want, as long as its really your email address of course. You just need to sign up for their Personal option and then set the email proxy (not sure if that's the exact name but it's definitely a proxy of some sort). |

I am thinking of moving back from Symbian to WM5 with the S620 but there are a couple of things I need to know first. I'm hoping one of you S620 owners can tell me 1. Does the S620 allow you to send and receive contacts via SMS i.e. to receive a business card over the air from a Nokia/Sony Eric/Samsung etc? People at my company use this a lot so I usually receive a couple of business cards a week. 2. Is there any way to lock the keypad into numeric mode? I'm going to use a Ptab spreadsheet on which I'll need to enter mostly numbers so I don't want to have hold the function button down all the time 3. Does Opera Mini run ok? I've tried it on a friends SP5 and the small fonts are almost unreadable. Thanks |

Has anybody figured out how to enter alpha characters into a numeric field using the T-Mobile Dash? I'd like to enter 8885551212p1234# as a phone number, but I can't figure out how to enter that letter p. Thanks Have you tried entering the number into your Outlook contacts on the PC and syncing it across? I know this is not ideal but it would work aroiund the problem. |

Paul, I read on XDA-Dev that AKU3 provides the ability to send and receive contacts as business cards via SMS. Do you know if that's true? If it is I can finally move back from Sony-Ericsson to a Smartphone (although the 501 is looking good too). xerxes |

Take a look in the TIPS 'n TRICKS section in the forum of http://www.gadgetapps.net/ There's a small app that I've described there that may help you sync your phone. Obviously, you'll need to write it to a memory card before you can install it... Thanks for the suggestion Sp00k. I tried it out but it didn't make any difference so it looks like the phone will have to go back on eBay. |
