Hello I used to do it that way too on my C600.

However if it's the same, someone told me via these pages all you need to do is press and hold the *T9 button (bottom left),
then select item 6 ( T9 Settings) then item 2 (My Words)

It certainly is a lot easier

Neil

I can confirm that the same method is used for the C550 as the C600, though I have also set up a shortcut in my start menu soI don't have to go through Messaging to get to it.

I've had a look at the cab file. The update adds some extra funcionality to the camera application.
Try it... take a photo... It adds a wizard-like/guided interface to send images to a friend/online album.

I think there's some other stuff in there too as there are images and sounds that relate to 'calling tunes'; I've not worked out how they fit in yet though.

Had a SMS from Orange earlier in the week saying that they would shortly send me another SMS with a software update. Received this today
So click the link and IE opens, then prompted by: -
I haven't said Yes or No yet because I don't want it to undo my unlock or decertification.

Anyone else had this and what did you do?

I've had the same message, except the URI on mine navigates to http://www.orange-update.com/3.
Does anyone have any further info on this [alleged] update?

No, because the rules forbid file sharing. wink.gif

However since most of the contents would be demos of third party software you can find it all elsewhere.
Anything in particular you were after ?

No, not particularly after any specific item. It's just that I want to pass my C500 on and would like to provide the complete package. Back when I originally purchased my C500, I backed up and formatted the card, but have since lost the backup dry.gif.

Apologies for the original request but I didn't think that the free demo software provided on the card would be in breach of the rules with regard to file sharing.

Does anyone have a copy/backup image of the original 16Mb 'Try Card' that shipped with the C500?

I thought all C500's did this out of the box? All of mine seem to have done and I am on to about handset 7 now. Maybe its the fact all the replacements are refurbs and therefore old?

Nope, Mine has only recently started exhibiting this behavior... Most annoying having to set the clock every time I remove the mini SD.

For those still with the C500 [that's me too], the Dopod 585 version is functional. Not sure what is missing, but it reads the barcodes. I needed to rename the language file.

Great li'l tool with loads of possibilities. I particularly like the t-shirt and business card ideas banded around in here.

I am looking for a c500 (but also c600 would work as they have same dimensions) holder NOT for car but for my motorbike. Of course this would work for wathever handlebar, also a bicicle.
As you have guessed right I want to use TomTom with my bike!
Please send some advice.

Thanks
Riccardo

I'd also like to hear if anyone has found any suitable brackets for mounting a c500 (or similar) on the handlebar of MTB.

Anyone?

i can bluetooth inbound, but not out.

Do you mean that you are unable to create an outgoing COM port? The menu option is disabled / grayed-out?
(Start --> Settings --> Bluetooth --> Bluetooth --> Menu --> COM Ports --> Menu --> New Outgoing Port)

It seems to me that this depends on how you paired your phone with the other device. I think you need to have the other device discover your c500... not the other way round. Also, your other device needs to support the 'Serial Port Profile'.

Device: C500
Storage: 256Mb miniSD
Headphones: Still using the bog standard wires shipped with the C500 (poor ears)
Software:Windows Media Player 10
Source:Music ripped with Windows Media Platyer to MP3 @ 96Khz... get 2 or 3 albums on 256Mb...

I listen to a lot of music and rarely go anywhere without listening to something. So my C500 is perfect for this. I mus get a decent set of headphones though... and definately a larger miniSD.

A2DP would be fantastic (an upgrade must-have).

How do arrange the icons in the start menu a certain way?
There are a number of methods for doing this, though they all manipulate the registry.

Smatione is very easy to use and provides a simple interface to your phone menu ordering (among other things). Once installed and launched (will complain that it has expired but will work anyway) navigate through the tree: Tweaks, Interface, Start order.

Once there, you'll have two lists. The left hand lists all the available shortcuts. the right hand lists the order of the programs in the first page* of your Start Menu.

*You can only arange the shortcuts on the first page of the Start Menu. So there's really no need to place any more than eight shortcuts into the right hand list.

Once you've dragged the items around, click the save button... you may need to reboot your phone to see the results.

As for the rest of the shortcuts, you can use a the built in file manager to put create folders and move the shortcuts into them - as you like.

The first question is, how do you send files through file explorer using bluetooth?

The built in File Manager application doesn't support sending files over bluetooth. However, there are third party applications such as Binarys Smart Explorer do.

QUOTE(dantheman1 @ Nov 24 2005, 05:58)
I was also wondering if there was a shortcut to lock the keypad.

Press and hold the 'call end' key...

QUOTE(dantheman1 @ Nov 24 2005, 05:58)
My next question is how do i place a timer on a profile?

If you set your profile to 'Automatic', you can use the built in calendar to swap into 'Meeting' profile. Though I gather you are really after an application that would change to a profile you have specified. I'm not sure that such an application exists (yet) thought I'd be pleased to be proven wrong.

What the heck is Light Sensor in Start/Setings/Power Managment?
*

On the C500, the setting for the light sensor determines whether to check the ambient light levels before turning on the keypad lights. I presume this is the same with other models.

If 'Light Sensor Enable' is set to on, the keypad will only light up when there is little or no ambient light (supposedly saving power during the day).

The light sensor on the C500 is located just below the '0' key.

Hope that helps.

Congratulations!

This can only benefit the mobile community.
I also think that this move by MoDaCo and MobiHand will encourage more development in the mobile market, helping to push the technology futher. There are many tallented developers out there that deserve the rewards that the FairDeal system will provide.

I'll certainly be keeping an eye on this new opportunity.

Keep up the great work.

I've not had any reports of the garbled voice problem since installing this update either. Whereas, it used to happen for at least the first call after switching the phone on, or exiting Flight Mode. biggrin.gif
