Sounds a lot like the 'tsk' glitch on the C500! Not sure that was ever resolved either. There was some talk at the time whether it was related to the phone communicating with phone masts. Not sure if that was ever substatianted/refuted???

I don't think it's anything to do with the phone (in this case) as it still has the glitch in airplane mode, and there's no glitch using bluetooth headphones, only wired ones.

Is that a FANTASTIC hope it works or you've done it and it's fantastic? ;)

P

It's a fantastic I've done it (although not had chance to actually listen as I'm at work)
My headphone volume WAS set at -12db which would explain the volume problems I've been having! cool.gif
Good news! biggrin.gif

Load Grand Prix, Click 'Phone', select the BIN file, then click 'Detect' and press the reset pin. Don't touch any other options!

P

Cheers Paul - all sorted cool.gif I just had't pressed the reset pin blush.gif

But when I double clicked it, it ran the Samsung OS Updater huh.gif
I'm now trying the GrandPrix thingy, and it just says waitng for the device mellow.gif I've never used this before biggrin.gif ???

Touch over the Omnia? ohmy.gif

P

I know I'm always moaning laugh.gif BUT here goes:-

My Omnia's music playback is still WAY too quiet mad.gif
My GPS won't work at all anymore (it did at first) huh.gif
Signal strength is much worse than the Touch ohmy.gif
In one room in my house I get weak signal on Orange - last night my Touch constantly held on to 2 bars and could happily make and recieve calls no problem. The Omnia flicked between searching and one bar for half an hour, and when it was possible to make a call it was barely audible mellow.gif That did it for me mad.gif

I'm wondering if I've got a faulty one ? or perhaps I expect too much biggrin.gif

Simon, you have a TP and an Omnia? biggrin.gif

Which one are you using most? ;)

Today I'm back on my lovely white Touch tongue.gif
I know it's mad but it's the most reliable, least annoying PPC I've ever had (and I've had quite a few biggrin.gif )

The music glitch/drop outs every 3 to 4 minutes is the most annoying thing (to me) about the majority of HTC phones.
It started with the Kaiser, the Touch Dual did it too, the Diamond and now the Touch Pro ohmy.gif The only one that didn't do it was the Touch (which is still my favourite HTC phone)
Some of them seemed to get fixed with ROM upgrades but I've yet to find an answer or solution.
BTW, it does it with ALL software I've tried, not just WMP, however, using bluetooth headphones is fine, it only does it with wired headsets mellow.gif
There's lots of posts about it on Modaco as well as XDA Devs, but as far as I'm aware there's no fix mad.gif

Simon ... any chance of a couple of scenic shots as a comparison, all of the above are pretty close up ones. Just wondering how pixellated it may get at distance.

Here's a quick outdoor comparison smile.gif
The Omnia is definitely a little sharper, but I prefer the colours of the Touch Pro. If you look at the cropped image you can see the number plates are clearer on the Omnia, but there's also more image noise mellow.gif
Tough call, the Omnia's probably got the edge but having said that pictures look twice as good on the Touch Pro's high res screen. unsure.gif

Looking at the top right of the screen, me sees a task manager that has an uncanny resemblance to HTCs Task Manager... Are HTC being the OEM on this I wonder?

I'd expect so. HTC made the Treo 750.
Looks like another phone I won't be able to resist rolleyes.gif

There's no doubt that the Omnia's camera is fantastic! The interface is suberb, it's fast, and has some great extra features like face recognition and anti shake etc. etc.
However, I'm also really impressed with the Touch Pro's camera cool.gif
At the end of the day it's the final image quality that matters and the Touch Pro isn't far behind the Omnia even with less pixels smile.gif
In some respects it's better ohmy.gif
Colours are more true, more vivid and pictures are a little sharper and slightly punchier. The Omnia's flash is VERY powerful, but for close ups it bleaches out the subject.
Here's some comparisons, resized so they're not enormous, and joined together, but no other editing. I've left the image sizes in proportion so you see the bigger size of the Omnia's pictures.
Yes, the Omni's camera's the best I've seen on a WM device, but the Touch Pro's can certainly give it a run for it's money cool.gif

That IS weird, volume on the headphones is very high for me. Perfectly fine while cycling and at less than full volume, very loud indeed as soon as I plug my own 'phones in. Wonder if it's a ROM bug!

The shutdown of the FTP by MS made little or not difference to XDADevs!

P

The volume's still very quiet on mine using any wired headphones. However, it's twice as loud using Blutooth headphones and sounds pretty good so that's some good news smile.gif

Any improvements to your niggles since the update Simon?

P

I think reception seems a bit better smile.gif
Music is still on the qiuet side but not had a chance to test it properly - after what you said I wonder if I've got a dodgy adapter cos there is no way I could ever describe it as too loud huh.gif (yes I did turn the volume wheel up on the adapter tongue.gif )
TomTom worked fine on day one, but since a hard reset and a ROM upgrade it just won't seem to find a signal EVER!!?? Presumeably I've set it up right as it's saying Wating for a valid signal and not No GPS Device?!
D'you have Core Player? I can't get it to run, it instantly says the serial code is wrong without letting you put your code in? huh.gif

Cheers

Darn! Bricked it!

Hung on the first file download (and the "Omnia" splash screen). Tried to hard reset (the 'light touch with the fingers' thing) and no luck.

I managed to get mine stuck on the Omnia Splash screen biggrin.gif Did a hard reset no problem by holding down the End and Send key at the same time and pressing the reset button with the stylus. Then press Send key to format. Is that what you tried?
Cheers

Initial impressions - VERY NICE! Less angular than the Diamond, matt finish on the back is much nicer than the finger print magnet on the diamond. Seems smooth and snappy, oh, and just look at all this lovely free memory ohmy.gif smile.gif

Probably being thick but I still can't find how to disable buttons when in stand by ?
I'll try out music volume later.
