Is HSDPA Enabled? If so H should be display H when you have an HSDPA signal. Yhis does depend on the ROM - you haven't flashed a new one? Some only display the H (or U or 3G+) when data is actually being transferred, others, all the time when you are in an HSDPA area.

If he wants help, he'll get it. If he just wants to whinge he can but there's no point in wasting time on him if he doesn't want to know how to solve his problems.

It used to be a setting – but not in the latest version - I don't have my SIM in my WM device so can't check myself.

Google maps obviously doesn't recognise your device as a PPC so is giving the generic java version.

No, if it touchscreen it's what most people refer to as a PPC (despite what the beginners section says wink.gif)
Where you are going wrong is opening the cab with winrar - the cab should be copied to your device and run on there.

QUOTE(klhrabosky @ Jul 2 2008, 06:35) *
I am new to pocket pcs too and sorry, but I have no idea how to add this to my smartphone. Would some one kindly be able to explain it? I have the zip files on my pc desktop, and I do know how to open the phone's hardrive. I am not able to drag the files from the winrar windonw right into the phone's HD folders. What should I do>?

Thank you!

I suggest you start in the absolute beginners section where all is explained.

Whether it display H, U 3G or 3G+ depends on the ROM.
T-Mobile's HSDPA coverage is pretty much the same as it's 3G coverage or so I believe - I thought Voda's wasn't to bad either but I could be wrong.

Only just seen this threat so I'll say congrats now Chucky - are you stopping at 3? 1 to many in my opinion wink.gif

Good luck, hope The missus and kids are doing OK.

Does the new ROM include a new Radio ROM? If so, does it improve reception?

I read that the system RAM was reduced to 128MB from 192MB on the Compact IV

Have you listened to the Podcast?
Paul said 64Mb of the ROM is on the chip so only 128Mb is available on the Diamond so I think they are both actually the same.
Paul and Mono also don't like the diamond back as it makes the device wobble when on a desk - which shouldn't happen with the flat back of the Compact IV

Just seen this as I don't use my WinMo devices at the moment.
Am I the only one that thinks it strange that no one has said 'Thank you!'

Let me be the first...

Thank you very much, when I go back to my WinMo devices I'm sure I'll have hours of fun with these - and at a price I can afford wink.gif

1) same as Paul - but I'll leave it to him to find you something.
2) No onboard GPS but will work fine with a BT receiver. Software such as CoPilot, TomTom or iGo will work fine as they store the maps on the device, some additional features such as CP Live or trafic do use GPRS but you don't need them for navigation. Google Maps DOES use GPRS as the maps are downloaded as you need them
3) NO, No, No! biggrin.gif

What other GPS app that work for this phone that can store the map on the memory card beside Garmin Mobile XT?
That way no internet is required.

CoPilot, TomTom, iGo etc all have their own maps.
Garmin comes on a card and you can't (officially) move it to a bigger card.
CoPilot 7 is my favourite but in the USA you have to by maps for the whole of the US so it makes it more expensive.

Or better still, why don't you either
a ) Try your SIM in another (unlocked) phone if that's what you want. I would be very suprised if youy couldn't get it to work. The IMEI is sent to the carrier which is how phones can be blocked and in most (if not all) countries it is illegal to change the IMEI of a phone. But I 'doubt' (I am no expert on Fido) if they would use the IMEI to track your phone as it is way to much trouble - I know of no other carrier that does.
or
b ) Ask for help sorting out your problems instead of just whinging about them. I was so p!ssed off by the time I got to your final paragraph that I couldn't be bothered to answer. You obviously will never be happy with a WM device even though it can do everything you want so there is very little point wasting our time trying to help you.
