is there any way to get rid of pressing the power button to unlocked the device?

because of that extra button press, it requires 3 button presses to unlock the device, i think thats a little excessive.

on all other smartphones, the "end" key locks and also brings up the unlock screen which then requires the "*" key which is a two-step procedure and not a 3-step procedure.

any help would be appreciated

I think it is a problem in the factory rom. I tried it on two S710's that had nothing installed yet, if you have your key guard active the volume buttons will not silence your call. If you do not have key guard on it works fine. So it appears that the key guard does not unlock the volume buttons when receiving a call they remain locked therefore not silencing your call. I hope HTC fixes this in the next rom.

i seem to be getting the problem even though its not locked. i never know when it will mute and when it won't. its really frustrating because i really dont want to hit ignore sometimes but i also dont want the ringer to be blasting for 30 seconds.

It has been noted by some that this happened after installing Auto-keylock (a nice freeware from Maniac that locks your keyboard after a given timeout). This may be true or it may be circumstantial. have you installed this freeware? I am experiencing the same problem and i have installed it.

Edit - I guess you haven't, we talked about it in another forum laugh.gif

yes we did, on xda-developers.
i didnt install auto keylock

i did install: facade, fizz traveller, fizz weather, pocket player, papyrus, smartphone notes, smarttweaker, resco explorer and zagat.

i wonder if its one of those programs causing this issue.

i did notice that sometimes it mutes and sometimes it doesnt, its hit or miss every time i get a call.

when i get a call and i try to mute the ringer by pushing the volume button up or down, it wont work and it will keep on ringing until i pick up or hit ignore.

after a soft reset it stops happening but it starts again after a few hours.

is anyone else experiencing this problem?

is there a specific program that is causing this?

thanks

i found the solution, i realized that you have to set "alarms" to vibrate also. it will vibrate only if you set notification and alarms to vibrate.

hey
how do i change add the port in gprs settings? i went to data connection and to the page where you can input primary dns address but i would like to add a port. on my nokia it has a seperate input area for ports or i can just a colon adn then the port but that doesnt work on the c500.

i am trying to configure it so that i can access for example 124.145.156.90:8080.
its the 8080 that i cant add for some reason.

can anyone help me.

i tried using the action button but that just opens up programs and shortcuts on the menu. i tried pressing it and holding it and that didnt work either.
i am confused as to how this program works.

sorry for all the newbie questions but im coming from a ppc which is more user friendly.

thanks

hey
i have a dopod 565 (spv c500 clone) and i cant seem to be able to start the xbat program. i loaded the default cab file and it installed but i cant seem to open the program. i checked the site and it says its mapped to the voice recorder key but my dopod doenst have a voice recorder key and when i press the camera key it just opens up the camera function.
i tried going into into file explorer manually and loading it from there and that didnt work either.

any help would be appreciated, i am new to the samrtphone world.

thanks

is it me or does the sda look a little bigger and fatter than the c500?

i know it seems very minor but on devices this small every mm counts.
