Using a registry editor go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shell\StartMenu View the Values (by selecting the Values soft key) and select the GridView key Change the Value data from 1 to Zero and then select done. |

Hi, first post (I think!) so go easy! Just received my vox this morning .. excellent device I must say. Have installed most of the free and recommended apps, I tried this one .. Google Maps. Despite having a bluetooth'ed GPS paired, the application couldn't locate a GPS receiver. How did you get it to work?? Thanks, M. Its kinda tricky and I sort of stumbled on it working. First I paired the phone with the TT BT GPS receiver. Now on my ancient PDA the blue light on the GPS comes on steady when it is paired. It does not do this via Live Maps on the 650. After about half an hour of faffing around wondering why its not got a steady blue light on it I sort of give up and start viewing the photographic map thats coming down to the phone. Hey Presto! The light on the GPS comes on steady. I rush outside to check my position and it is indeed working. There is a settting within live maps on the phone that tells the software there is a GPS reciever attached. You will need to alter that when you fire it up. Hope this helped |

These arrived today. Had previously been using Jessops PDA screen protectors but their latest version have changed since I last bought a set and they are now a bit naff. Arrived after a couple of days. Chanced my arm on a set of these off of eBay and I have to say its a major improvement. They are pre cut to the shape of the screen with an eliptical cut out that goes round the nav button. Next to invisible when one is fitted. Crystal clear. Brilliant. So pleased I have ordered a second set. Heres a link to one that ends in 6 days but the ebay sellers ID is "Flexi-Glass" (minus the quotes) CLICK HERE They do other models of phone as well. Very impressed. |

Do a hard reset of your phone and the vibrate reminder will be reset. You will still have to do the regedit hack on the INITVOL setting in order to turn the riminder vol up from "0" |

Pigs Bums! Just when I got the phone the way I wanted it, the numerical keypad illumination started to flicker on and off intermittently on numbers 3,6,9 and the "Pink" hang up button. Phoned Orange tech support and they are sending me a replacement tomorrow evening. Hope this is not like the C600 all over again. Had 4 replacements in quick succession when they first came out. I assume I have to re register the new IMEI number on the website to APP UNLOCK the new phone????? |

More interestingly. I have a specific (non standard sound in WAV format) that I have for my reminder sound. Despite this being set in my SETTINGS / SOUNDS and being able to play the sound in the settings section, this will not play when the reminder occurs. The phone just vibrates. Can anyone else confirm this? Just done a Hard Reboot and this appears to have cured the problem. Curious as my Reminder sound worked without the REG HACK????? How do i get into the registry to edit that reg key? is there a prog somewhere for that? You need to Application Unlock your phone and then get a copy of RegeditSTG (still doesnt work for me) or PHM Registry Editor (This does work) and copy it to your phone. |

Rhinstone, could you do me a favour, (if you haven't changed the default power settings) could you leave your phone unlocked and see if the screen switches off after the allotted minute. I'm trying to see if it was LiveSearch, SMart2Go, or Resco software that keep my display from switching off when it was not locked. Griff_FFOC (Focus Owner?), The screen does indeed switch off after 1 minute. Im not running SMart2Go or any Resco software. only other software I have is PHM Regedit. Was not sure if you wanted me to test this with LiveSearch running or turned off? It turns off either way. Hope this helped you out. |

Just done some tests, and it seems that changing the profile is the culprit. Changing it to SILENT or VIBRATE (using standard profile sound settings) mutes the Reminder sound as expected, but changing it back to NORMAL DOESN'T restore it. Everything else is restored fine. It then requires the registry setting above modified to get it working again. Seems quite a large bug to me if you change it silent at some point, and then back to normal later relying on reminders. Who's the best person/place to report this bug too? Orange CS, or will they say "Thanks" and forget it? Thats a bit poxy. Probably means we'll all have to wait for the next major update from Orange. |

I like to text with normal keypad not the qwerty keyboard.. when a word is not in the dictionary how can I add a word??? not like the old WM5 where there was an add word option or am i missing something? When you add a word under the "abc" thing and type in in manually then that word is then available under xT9 next time round. Yes it IS annoyying ! |

On looking at the default screens on the E650 it would appear that they have a dimension of 320 x 320 pixels. There also appears to be a loss of the top and bottom or left and right edges depending on what orientation you have the screen. Left and right sides ~ Portrait Top and Bottom ~ Landscape Difficult to tailor a screen image that looks good in both orientations particularly with objects such as cars and people. For example a homscreen containing a frontal aspect of a car would make it look all squashed and streched with "Carlos Fandango Super Wide Wheels" (who remembers THAT 70s advert????) in Landscape mode. Can the the xml be triggered to use a one image for portrait mode and an alternate one in landscape??? |

Had only recently bought a new Krussell pouch for my C600 but was delighted to find the E650 fits in there just nicely. |

Although the 'new way' is inconvenient in your case, it probably makes sense for most people, and it gives a straightforward way to clear contacts off the device. I can understand wanting to reduce sync time, but I don't really get why you'd want to have contacts in Outlook without their phone numbers? The beauty of WinMo is that they can hold full contact cards, and you have one unified address book everywhere - you don't need to maintain a seperate one for your phone? P You are quite right of course and this is something I have been thinking about long before I got this E650. With Outlook I can have a consumate address book that covers everything. whereas in the past I just used Outlook for email addys and my mobile for phone numbers. I need to combine the two and have a one stop shop. Then there is no problem syncing all the time. I was just taken by surprise when my phone no lnoger had my contacts listed after a recent sync. Getting the E650 has just forced my hand in this respect and I dont have any issues doing things the "new" way round. It just means I should do it sooner rather than later. I thought it prudent to post this up incase someone else who does a this, will see it here and not worry that there is a problem with his new phone. Its a lovely phone and Im well pleased with it. I was concerned that jumping in and getting one so early would be as bad as my C600 experience (3 replacements and not as easy to unlock as the C500) but after a week this is still a nice phone. I kinda miss the IR and no MSN installed but I used them very infrequently so I dont miss them too much. The wireless more than makes up for the absence of IR. |

I have sync'd my contacts (something which I have only have ever needed to do once on my other 2 SPVs) and then I uncheck the sync contacts box in the usual manner so that the contact list does not get sync'd again. Mainly just to cut down on unnecessary overheads and to improve overall sync time. Unfortunately if this option is then unchecked on the phone, any contacts that have been sync'd to the phone are removed. So now I have to have at least 1 PC with my phones contact list set in it to sync to the phone. No good for my Vista PC as my Outlook contacts are just that. Outlook mail addresses. No mobile numbers. Nice one Microsoft!!!! On my other SPVs I did not get a message stating "To proceed ActiveSync must remove all contacts synchronised to your device using ActiveSync. Select OK to contiunue" when I unchecked the box. If I uncheck the box on the PC the same thing happens. Contacts get wiped. Strange. I assume a workaround will be available soon but just something I thought I would post up incase anyone else experiences this "feature" |

This was with Orange direct on the phone! Yes but if you visit the shop in the high st you may get a different result. They had no problem with upgrading my C600 to the E650 and me keeping my number. It was the first question I asked them and I actually quoted this very thread as my reason for asking. |

Strange, Went into my Orange shop (Southend on Sea) yesterday to change from a more expensive talk plan to Raccoon 25 (or whatever its called) Came out with a lovely new SPV E650 (upgraded from my C600) and its still on the same number that I have always had. Suggest you visit the shop again and get them to confirm this. |

Have cracked it !!!!! I had a different Memory card in my old SPV C500 with a copy of regedit on it that was registered to the C500. I placed this memory card in the C600 and Regedit worked. Copied it to the phone. Replaced my C600 Memory card and then copied the file back there and it works. |

Hi look at my post by jutley on this forum about application unlock it tells you what to do to get it unlocked again I had used the SDA Application Unlock prog to do my C600. This was the one that says it cannot unlock the phone then it says its unlocked. Sorry. I should have been more specific. Theres a site called SPV developers (http://www.spv-developers.com/forum/archive/index.php?t-2361.html) with a page chock full of people who have installed the ROM update on their C600s and now regeditor doesnt work. I dont really fancy using a non SPV ROM on my phone so I dont really want to go down the imate route. Is ANYONE else on here having this problem??????????????????? |
