Hi Roozbeh,

It looks like the last version works fullscreen and looks really nice with my 640x480 Pocket PC - thanks for that! smile.gif

However it's very slow sad.gif around 12fps or less on my X50v. That's with GAPI on or off, and with the X50v GAPI patch applied and enabled or disabled - makes no difference.

If I change the resolution to 320x240 it runs as before, in a corrupted partial window, but you can still make out the animation and it's really smooth and fast! (even though you can't really see anything properly).

Any ideas? sad.gif

Does GAPI acceleration work properly only at 320x240? If so, can you make it like other GAPI games that simply pixel-double on VGA screens and run at full speed? In other works, maybe try to fix the corruption when I try to enable 320x240 on my 640x480 PPC?

I'll try to take a screenshot to show you what happens if you like.

Thanks for your hard work Roozbeh !

Absolutely flawless on my X50v! Awesome job! biggrin.gif

Could you consider supporting VGA screens, though? Like the other emulators I'm testing here, it runs in a tiny window in the top-left of my screen.

Thanks a lot, keep up the great work! smile.gif

Hey bitbank!

I'm overjoyed that you've decided to come back and revive your awesome emulator!! biggrin.gif

The last version you posted runs great on my SPV E200, but I'd love to use on on my X50v Pocket PC. Do you plan to make it properly compatible with VGA, and maybe add some scalers to give a nice crisp display?

It appears to run but only in a VERY small window in the top left of the screen, overlapping the taskbar, even.

Please say you'll make it compatible!!
Many thanks!!!

Hey roozbeh, great to see you back. smile.gif

Is it possible to get it running properly in fullscreen on an X50v?

With some wild guessing playing with the config and GAPI tweak for X50v, I can only get a semi-corrupt display in a tiny window in the middle of the screen.

If I set the resolution to 640x480 - gapi or no gapi - I get the console starting up, then a black screen for about 10 seconds, then it crashes. I then have to soft reset because the PPC taskbar becomes "blocked".

On 320x240, I get a tiny game window in the middle of the screen with no GAPI, but if I turn GAPI on I get a black box in the middle of the screen, and a corrupt display along the top of the screen... very strange. Either way I can't really play the game sad.gif

Any ideas? I'd love to play this properly on my Pocket PC.

Thanks. smile.gif

If you could support foobar2000 with this program, I would be over the moon.

I used to use the Epitech remote to control Windows Media Player but I have since switched to foobar because it's a hell of a lot faster for me. It easily let me organize my massive music collection better than Media Player because of the mass tagger etc.

Anyway, since it's now my primary player I can't use my phone as a remote. Please consider supporting foobar! smile.gif I'd be happy to be your second user biggrin.gif

I'll be testing this shortly. I've also sent you an email re: registration code.

Cheers! This seems nicer and more stable than the other clients I've tried. smile.gif

The unstable 0.96 version isn't the latest version. The latest version is 0.5 stable (it came out after 0.96 had been tested a while).

Maybe you should try downloading 0.5 as it fixed a few bugs..? smile.gif

I know what you mean!

On another note, I just noticed earlier today, in one of his posts someone made a comment about him stealing the contents of the article from another site. Well, that fellow's comment has disappeared as of now...

I've heard and read a lot about this guy's history, and it isn't a terribly good one, or so it seems, anyway.

Still, his podcasts always make me laugh. laugh.gif His voice is brilliant tongue.gif biggrin.gif

I would like to debrand my Orange rom; as in take away the Orange related links and other junk I never use, and have it more generic.

Just like in the i-mate and Qtek roms; however, I cannot stand those roms. The Arcsoft MMS client is abysmal. What in the heck is wrong with the nice, integrated Windows one? So that all your inboxes/outboxes/etc are in one, consistent place?

I like the camera and camcorder icons from those roms though. They match the rest of Windows icons nicely, unlike the fugly Orange ones. I hope the spv-developers people find a way to let people customise roms soon. I'd love to build my own custom clean rom. smile.gif

I know it's really stupid nitpicking a phone but I like to customise things, and change the look and feel to match how I like it. I always like to get the most out of my computers smile.gif

I really want to see this game working with BT multiplayer. It'd be so much fun playing it against my mate who has a P900 smile.gif Let's urge them to try and find a solution, because it's a brilliant reason to purchase it being multiplayer and all.

I just bought it now and it has to be said, it's lots of fun smile.gif Multiplayer would be awesome.

There was supposed to be a native Smartphone edition though, with full 3D and all....

I've had no problems with this game whatsoever, and I'll be buying it as soon as it's released. biggrin.gif Can't wait! I just bought SkyForce today too, and I can't get away from it. Excellent work!! biggrin.gif

Sorry to hear about the bluetooth problem sad.gif I think it's really strange how Micro$oft release their entire development suite (eMbedded Visual C++ and all the SDKs etc) completely free of charge, and Widcomm charge you for their SDK.... I would've thought it to be the other way round! sad.gif

I really do hope you do decide to buy this SDK! There are quite a good many people who'd love to be able to play multiplayer games on the Smartphone and Pocket PC over bluetooth. If i'm not mistaken, you would be the first company to create a multiplayer bluetooth game for the Smartphone. I just hope it isn't too expensive for your company.

It's nice to hear you're into the demoscene and everything too! smile.gif I loved those oldskool demos on the C64 and Amiga, pushing their limited capabilities to the max.... all those scrolling wavy texts and sprites etc... and that chipmusic is just so addictive! I reckon they make great ringtones smile.gif

If you fancy listening to a few, there's a guy called Lesnik who does some really nice chiptunes. Check out his site (http://lesnik.scene.pl/music.htm) and have a listen to some of them; scroll down to the chiptunes section. Bees, all the hotdogs ones, sahara, supercow, 7th pit, 90 degrees, afraid, biesiada, bother and some others are my favorites smile.gif

Anyway, keep up the great work, hope you can sort something out with the bluetooth, as I'd really love to see that working. Looking forward to its release!! biggrin.gif

This looks fantastic, reminds me of Bomberman/Dynablaster/Blitz Bombers on the old nintendos and amigas biggrin.gif

I love how you're using chiptunes for the music, really retro. smile.gif Pesonally Im a huge fan of chiptunes, I think it's so cool how a lot of smartphone games are using this style of chip/tracker music these days smile.gif (toki tori, boxy pocket - they have chiptune music too)

Regarding the bluetooth multiplayer, will Windows Smartphones be able to play against the P800/P900/Nokia versions over bluetooth? I know 2 friends at my school, one with a smartphone, another with a p900 - i'd love to be able to have a 3-way game biggrin.gif

Fantastic graphics and music, well done! I will probably be buying this smile.gif

http://scummvm.org/downloads.php

In the extras section there are two games you can get for free, as they were donated to the ScummVM project. Scroll down to the Extras section smile.gif Not LucasArts games, as LucasArts are a bit stingy, but very, very good anyway! laugh.gif

I love them too! smile.gif I was playing Simon the Sorceror Talkie at school, my friends couldnt believe the sarcastic speech was coming from a game running on my phone! laugh.gif Damn Nokians wink.gif

Also guys, be aware that you can edit the ini file to customize some options that aren't (yet?) in the menu. smile.gif

By default the mouse cursor is quite stuttery and laggy, but this is a feature, not a bug. You can tweak it to respond smoothly and quickly, like I have done. Open up the ini file in a text editor, find the "[smartphone]" section, and change the following values to the ones I have here smile.gif
CODE
repeatTrigger=20
repeatX=3
repeatY=3
stepX1=2
stepX2=5
stepX3=7
stepY1=2
stepY2=5
stepY3=7

This should be reasonably self explanatory, just tweak it til you're happy smile.gif It makes it much easier to control.

I also prefer to map the keys so that the joystick control the cursor instead of the keypad, and the volume up/down keys act as left/right mouse buttons. This is comfortable for me, as the screen is landscape when playing.

A simple workaround for people experiencing pieces of background graphics coming through on top of the game screen (i.e. taskbar, start menu) as if the game is "losing focus", is to press the home button right after starting PocketScumm from the Start Menu (you made your own shortcut, right? wink.gif) and then wait patiently for it to load up. All you are doing is switching to the homescreen before the game is fully loaded, as when you leave the start menu in the background, it seems to randomly come through the game screen into view from the background.

Check out the PocketMatrix forum for guides on how to install games with PocketScumm and compressing talkie versions of the games into MP3 to save space smile.gif, as well as for any questions you may want to ask the author!

Arisme has just released (about half an hour ago from writing this!) a test build of the upcoming PocketSCUMM 0.7.1. It corrects some significant bugs that existed in 0.7.0. smile.gif

You can get the new test release from this forum post at PocketMatrix: Click here

PocketSCUMM is the Windows CE port of the open source, multiplatform LucasArts scripting interpreter, ScummVM. It allows you to play your favorite classic point-and-click adventure games (such as Monkey Island series, Simon the Sorceror, Sam & Max etc.) on your modern PC, and now, your Smartphone/PDA! biggrin.gif

Some of the games have been donated to the Scumm team and are freely available to download for usage with the program. You can find these, along with other useful Scumm-related downloads, at the ScummVM site.

Please note that this is test/preview software. Although the program is now at a very mature stage, it may contain bugs. Thus, the author may find your input useful.

Is it possible on the E200 to activated a handsfree through the speaker of the phone it self.
This is something I realy use a lot, and I can not find it on the phone.
Please dont say this phone dont have that option...

Sure it has the option! simply press and hold the "pick up" button (the one above Home) when in a call and speakerphone should be activated. biggrin.gif
