Has anyone been able to play AAC audio files on their C550?

This is, litterally, the only reason I'm going to be returning mine. If there hasn't been any progress by monday, it's going back.

BT & IR beam are accessed in the same way, you just need to have BT turned on before beaming.

I'm still really miffed at the blatant lies with regards to AAC playback.

Unless somehting happens to fix it, it'll be going back to them on friday.

That's what we get for being early adopters, I'm afraid.

There's a list of confirmed working/not working apps, and what not, in the main section. Take a peek, and add what you've found with these programs.

I've not used the sync feature much, mostly because I'm an iTunes guy.

The first time I tried it, it aborted, like it has been for you. The second time I tried, it hung WMP. After a reboot of the C550, it aborted again. That's when I gave up.

I'll direct you to the slew of posts comparing the two pysically. They're not that hard to find.

From what I've read, the Universal (the C600) isn't much bigger than a Magician.

The webstore it pretty low priority for Orange, you'll always get a faster turnaround by phoning them up.

I'm another one that went for the CoolSmartphone linked offer, ordered tuesday afternoon, minutes after it was put up. Arrived this morning.

AAC + WMP = "A registry entry is corrupt"

Interesting.

you can use activesync to move the zip file across, then unzip on the phone. (Wouldn't let me move the .exe across)

Worked like a charm biggrin.gif

The way people have been doing it is by installing anything that you need while using WiFi on either phone memory or if the WiFi card (if it has memory). Everything else goes on the normal SD card.

ver 2.02 has been released with magician support smile.gif about to try it out.

[edit] Nice bit of software, but it's painfully slow - getting about 500Kb/s compared to the 8-9Mb/s of my card reader.

Nothing to do with that Mitch, it's all about money. Why give their customers a free upgrade when they can make you buy the latest product?

The answer is no, i'm afraid. It took me two minutes to find this information on the Orange website - same goes for the Jam/M500/compact/mini/S100/whatever-you-want-to-call-it.

QUOTE(En_croute @ May 10 2005, 09:07)
It's exactly the same process - PAK code from existing supplier, and inform the retailer.  You need to do this AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE.
*

It's PAC, the C stands for Code wink.gif (Porting Authorisation Code, or some such)

And, no, you don't... T-Mobile will let you port a number to them at any point in your contract (I had to wait 2 months for my Orange contract to come to term).

As for the question of "grinding" whilst keeping you number:
You'll first have to end your current contract by asking for you porting code (if it's not hit term you'll have to pay up the remainder of your line rental. I recommend stripping your contract down to talk30 with no extras, then calling up to cancel);
Buy a PAYG on another network using the PAC (Virgin, O2, whoever);
Then, call them up and get a PAC from them;
Then you're ready to go back to your old network, PAC in hand, and set up a new contract (taking advantage of whatever offers they're doing at the time).
