I unlocked mine last night and had the same problem, although the re-enter timer was only 30secs not 960.
I hadn't touched anything, just pressed the power button to turn it on! :?
But if you leave it, then after 30 secs, (or 960 on yours) you can re-enter the code no probs.

Just notice this in the Info4U section of the site though:

Pay As You Go

All Pay As You Go mobile phones shown on this website are subject to connection to the relevant network within 10 days of purchase. Should your pay as you go mobile phone not be registered with the network within 10 days, the sum of £60.00 (Sixty Pound) will be charged to your credit/debit card to cover our loss of commission and claw back form networks

So MAKE SURE you register the phone, don't just chuck the SIM away biggrin.gif

Right ladies and gentlemen, your next mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get this little (well quite large) puppy network unlocked preferably using the USB cable that comes with it.
Then we can go round being proud that we got a 3G Videophone, which is network unlocked with no contract, all for £9.99!!
Now that WOULD be something tongue.gif

QUOTE
Right cheers for that, last question I PROMISE biggrin.gif
When you say do a full backup, that is backing up all folders on the smartphone, the rom, and the boot loader yeh ?
So if I copy all folders from the smartphone to my PC (because not enough space on SD) then backup my bootloader to SD, and finally download the UK Update, then I would effectivley have everything for a full backup correct ?
Ps, I think my bootloader is 0.98 how can I get 0.93 ?

Cheers for the help

Right I have downloaded a zip file with 3 bootloaders in it, one is 0.93 (BOOT-093.whx) I presume thats a winhex file?
What do I have to do with this to get it onto my phone so I can load it and install the UK rom if things go wrong?
I have tried using USBTerm but it says "Cannot open terminal handle!"

Please help I really wanna try out this update. biggrin.gif

Hey guys, I'm thinking of putting the new Qtek update on my SPV but can't do a full backup as I only have an 8mb card, if it was to go tits up would Orange be able to tell what firmware I was trying to install, then they might refuse to sort it with one of their backup things ?!?

laugh.gif
First time i have actually noticed that profile biggrin.gif
I just tried it by setting and appoinment to start in 5 minutes, mark me as being busy, and then after 5 minute finish the appointment.
Set the profile to automatic and phone myself from a landline, it rang, waited for the appointment to start, phoned myself again, it rang...., rebooted the phone, appointment was still in progress phoned myself again, it rang....
So it didn't appear to work
It would be nice to have the program anyway, because then you could have it change to multiple profiles depending on what your preference is, instead of just "meeting" (oh, and I checked the ring was turned off in the meeting profile  ) also you wouldn't need to clutter up the appointments screen with stuff to change the profile then biggrin.gif

Would it be possible to create a program that automatically selects a certain profile based on the current time, and the day of the week ?
I would image it would be possible to access the time/date lookup functions the same way as the appoinment sheduler/calender does.
This would be an absolute godsend of a program, because you could set it up to select a silent/discreet profile between 9-5:30 Mon-Fri (eg. when your @ work) then at other times have it set to Normal of whatever is normally used.
I always forget to silence my phone before I get to work and its a pain when you get a bollocking for having your phone on...
Unfourtunatly I have only BASIC VB experience so if someone want's to have a go it would be much appreciated biggrin.gif

-=Edit=- Also if someone knows a list of the API functions that can be used on the smartphone I would appreciate a link, then I can have a go at doing something myself laugh.gif

Download and install SmartExplorer from Monolithix.org then you can browse to the file you want to send, and beam it across! biggrin.gif

I would LOVE to see something like that, like with my old Samsung T100 just before I got rid of it to get my SPV there was a surge of customised ROM's adding neat little features and altered menus.
C'mon people!

Cheers for clearing up the T9 stuff, I must have skimped over that bit of the post
So, if we took the dll for english T9 from the phone with for example the Orange UK update, then dumped it on the phone after the upgrade it should work ?!?
Or is it one of those files that is re-written everytime the phone is turned on ??

Is there anyway of doin a FULL backup with only an 8mb card ? as I can't afford to get a bigger one until I start my new job next week... and I was reading somewhere earlier that a full backup is approx 61mb!!!! and that you could only backup the IPSM folder with an 8mb card?

This update sounds nice, i'm gonna go for it once the backup situation is confirmed.

-=Edit=-
I have just been doing a bit more reading and it seems that people are only downgrading the bootloader so that they can SimUnlock, I don't need to do this as apparently the QTek firmware is SimUnlocked by default.. So can I get away without backing that up and the 1.3.5.6 rom, and just backing up my IPSM so I have my settings saved, then if anything goes wrong I can download the UK 1.3.5.6 update from the web and install that??
Would it load with whatever bootloader is installed with the QTek update ?
Sorry about all the questions, I just wanna make sure laugh.gif

Cheers 8)

Whats the deal with english t9 "not strictly working" then ?
I can't decide whether to install this or not.
Is there any way of backing up all of the current stuff on the phone so I can go back to that if it doesn't work properly?

Right this ROM sounds pretty cool, at the moment I have an SPV with UK update 1.3.5.6 and my boot loader is canary 0.98 i think.
Will this QTEK rom work ok?
How do I backup my current rom, bootloader etc.. so if it goes wrong I can go back to the UK one?

If someone can answers these Q's I'm gonna give it a try, I'm sick of waiting for the next UK update now!

BE CAREFULL!!

I done a hard reset earlier on, because my phone is going in for repair so I thought I'd clear everything off for them, anyway: When you add contacts into the phone book they are saved to the phone not the sim, which i didn't realise hence now I have to re-enter all my contacts again.
This time I'm entering them through SIM Manager so they are saved to the sim not the phone.

i thought that was just the norm for an spv... the power button on mine needs to be pressed at just the right and to get it to turn on, it's been like that from day 1
