Ho ho, I've had my Diamond for 3 weeks now- box was even in the attic- and didn't know about these CDs. I thought it was a bit lame on the instruction side of things! biggrin.gif

LOL its wasnt only me then!

BTW ive loaded the disk and still cant find any instructions on there. Ive run the application and also browsed the disk but nothing to be found! I downloaded the Asia instruction booklet from the net instead!

Just as an update it seemed my phone was faulty so it got sent back and a replacement has now turned up and all is working well!

There are only a few thigns that annoy me! :-

1) When the phone is in the wallet and someone rings the screen is activated and either Asnwer or Reject are pressed whilst taking the phone out of the sleeve - which is really annoying. Why cant the screen be deactivated until you press another button on the side or even have one side of the sleeve clear so you can press either button before taking it out of the sleeve?

2) Audio volume/quality. The audio quality via the headphones doesnt seem to have much bass and is quite tinny. Ive tried changing the Audio Booster app and it has little effect. Is the quality of audio really that bad? I dont think it was that bad with the first Diamond Touch I recieved (but had to send back!)

Essentially thats it!

The volume buttons on the side control the call volume when in a call, so play with those to confirm there isn't some other more serious problem.

Thanks for that but it made no differnce.

Just spoken to Orange Customer Care and a replacement handset is turning up tomorrow.

Ive had my HTC Diamond for a few days now and love it!

When I receive a call I can hear the ringtone play but when i answer the phone I cannot hear the person calling via the earpiece. I have to goto loud speaker to hear them and then its really loud.

Am I supposed to hear a voice via the ear piece and if so any ideas on what I can do to ge tit working?

Many thanks.

Mornin all - quick question as I can't find anything through search:

There's an app available for the iPhone which uses the screen as an LED matrix display, so you can make any message scroll across the screen... it's written by a bloke called Masayuki Akamatsu (search on iTunes for more).

I was wondering whether anyone knows if anything similar is available for PPC/ Win Mobile (I have an HTC Touch)?

Cheers!

Andy

Sounds a neat idea and I would love to have something like that on mine!
Also another request would be a 'Simon' simulator like at http://www.asobitech.com/asobisimon.html
Where the colours light up and you have to touch them in sequence as illuminated. I think the HTC Diamond Touch would be brill for this app!

Rather than start loads of new threads for every brick wall I come up against I thought I'd put my latest issues here! (there could be a few!)

I cant seem to connect to any internet connection via the phone and was expecting some sort of wi-fi access aswell!

I have my own (protected) wi-fi network in the house and wondered if I could utilise this in the house and then use external wifi and Orange GPRS for anything else?

Thanks

Hi there, Ive just got my new Diamond Touch through but there doesnt seem to be any instructions booklet with it!

Ive got the Orange 13 things booklets and a one page QuickStart quide which is four points. Insert Sim, Charge, Register and thats about all it tells you!

Ive just fathomed out the way the charger all plugs into each other and wondered whether it charges quicker via the USB2 socket or plugged into the proper mains?
How long should I leave it charge before using?
Does the phone charge even thought it's 'off'? My previous phones still gave an indication that it was charging even if powered off!
Do I need to power up the phone to start charging?

Right that's my idiot questions so far!

Do I need to update the ROM and get some other stuff on my phone or shall I play with it for a while and see if Im happy with it?

Many Thanks

Idiot Lee.

Just rang them again today (whilst the rugby was on - so got through instantly!)

And was given a number to contact directly concerning me getting my contract finished - but I got the woman to ring it for me who eventually admitted that the number was missing a digit and that she didnt have it there!

According to their system they have tried to contact me but as my sim card in my C600 has been deactivated I am unable to make or recieve calls via my mobile so I have left my home phone number there for someone to call me.

CarphoneWarehouse seem intent on not letting me cancel the contract so I am now returning the phone and the contract with a letter detailing my request to see if they will act on this as nothing else seems to be getting any action out of them!

Ive just waited/wasted for the manager to ring me back in the last 7 hours but no call has appeared! What a surprise!

Ive just given them another call this evening to see why noone has called and they couldnt tell me why!

Ive just had a major whigne about their CS to this woman who said that she was unable to do anything and that I needed to speak directly to the person who sold me the phone. She game me his number but on calling it the number was not recognised!

Im gonna give them one more chance tomorrow and then its down the shop and causing mayhem!

Im getting a tad annoyed here with all this!

Distance selling laws may be valid as you had a cold call. Inform then by phone and in writing that you are cancelling the contract and they can arrange collection the Nokia from you.
As long as you give written confirmation (recorded mail so they can not say they did not receive it) you should not have a problem and don't forget to mention distance selling regulations and you were informed about this at the time of the cold call.

To return a phone you need a 'Return Authorisation Code' for them to accept a returned phone!
I have now been phoning for THREE days to try and acquire such a code but noone is willing to give me one!

It is now day seven of my '7 day piece of mind guarantee' and I am still no further forward. Once again their customer services have promised that someone will call me back within 24 hours (as they have promised for the last three days) but still noone has rung.

Their customer services totally stink and I am now totally decided that I will never use Carphone Warehosue again. Not only do their customer servies stink but also their prices and tariffs!

Right whats on offer in the Modaco shop......

The Carphone Warehouse rang me up on Friday 2nd March to say that my 12 month contract was expiring and offered me a free upgrade.

I got a new Nokia (grrrrr) phone and 10% off my usual tariff. It was explained that I had a 7 day colling off period if I didnt like the phone.

I got the N73 on Monday and found the buttons to be too small, clunky interface and noticed that there are more upto date Nokia's out there.

I now feel a bit ripped off that I have got 'last year's' phone, a longer 18 month contract and a phone that I don't like or can operate properly.

I rang the Carphone Warehouse yesterday (6th March) to try and tell them about my gripes but noone seemed interested - I got passed around ten different departments before being told that someone would call me back - noone ever did!

I rang again today and got through to someone with at least half a brain - who told me to keep this Nokia phone and sell it on Ebay and carry on using my trusty C600. He said I've agreed to another 18 month contract and am stuck with it!

What can I do here? Am I really tied into an 18 month contract with a phone I don't really like? I havent signed anything and was led to beleive that I had a 7 day cooling off period.

Any ideas guys?

My contract is up on my C600 and I have opted to go to the darkside and the devil.

My second ever phone was a Nokia 3210 and I have never ever wanted to go back to them.

BUT

The N73 looks pretty damn good (even though it isnt a smartphone sad.gif sad.gif )

The spec is a 3.2MP camera with a Carl Zeiss lens, flash, FM radio but a symbian operating system.

Ive only ever used Windows Mobile so it should be interesting to see what differences there are. I mainly use my C600 for photos and music so ive been assured that the N73 will be so much better than my current 1.3Mp C600.

Are there any other decent phones around?

Ive heard a rumour that the next generation of phones will now include a 5MP CCD!

The way I understood it is that everyone who has signed up for M:Metrics via Modaco has one entry into the draw. As with any competition on here Plus members get an extra entry.

Simple really? or really simple?

PS Ive had thsi thing installed on my SPV C600 for ages now and do receive the cheques and its quite a nice feeling when you get them as I totally forget that I participated as it just all happens in the background.

Just thought that I would re-address the balance and state that I have had NO problem with OSPS aslong as you follow the cashback instructions properly!

Sending in my first claim I sent a photocopy rather than the original claim form and they sent me back a letter explaining that they couldnt accept photocopies and told me to send the original claim form in within the time span.

I thought that was quite encouraging as I thought they would;ve used that as an excuse NOT to pay me but I have been paid on EVERY claim now!

One of the cheapest mobile phone shops on the internet!

Im 100% happy with em!

The thing I find annoying is that I keep pressing the '+' button at the bottom and I keep getting + symbols throughout my texts! I think the buttons must be closer together than previous models!

Did your phone really do a hard reset or a softer reset?

As mine reset the operating system but didnt seem to touch any of my photos, contacts or applications and other stuff saved on the phone and memory card. The woman on the phone said I would lose everything but I didn't lose a thing!

I had a bit of a problem with that Pocket MSN not downloading my Hotmail when I logged in, nor would it do it manually, kept giving me an error that a message was open.  I finally used the "Switch User" option to disassociate my login from the phone, then signed myself back on.  It cleared the problem right up.  You might try that to get Messenger to work.  Also, did it ever work?  If not, make sure you're putting your entire msn address into the panel, i.e. youraddress@hotmail.com, not just the youraddress portion.
*

Thanks for the advice. My WAP and internet do work and I am able to browse websites easily.

I am typing in the whole email address as xxxxx@hotmail.com and my correct password.

I have tried using the switch user function but to no effect.

The woman at Orange Care had exhausted everything she could and has given me a number to call HTC as they might have some answers!

I have attempted to use MSN Messenger on my C600 for the last few weeks but have been unable to accomplish this!

The message I keep receiving is:-

"Sign-in to MSN Messenger Service failed because the service is not responding. Try again later."

I have spent the last hour on the phone to Orange Care and the lovely woman took me through all the correct settings and even sent another orange update to the phone to allow MSN Messenger to work - but to no effect!

Has anyone got MSN Messenger working on their C600 and if so what are your settings!

Thanks

I have just got Orange Care to talk me through how to hard reset my C600 as the texting and phone-call side of things werent working!

These are the instructions given:-

1) Turn phone off
2) Remove your memory card
3) Leave phone switched off and hold down both soft buttons
4) Whilst holding down both soft buttons now press the power button in for one second - release the power button but keep holding soft buttons
5) The screen should go black. Now press the 'zero' button whilst still keeping both soft buttons pressed to reset the phone.
6) You are now free to stop holding those damn soft buttons!

Hopefully you got enough fingers to complete these operations - I had to get a friend to assist me!

Luckily by following these instructions reloaded the operating system but didn't make me lose ANY settings, text messages or pictures!

Because it restored the phone but didn't lose any information I wonder if I was lucky or whether this is only deemed a soft restore rather than a full one!

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks
