I have experienced a similar issue with a Vario2, and t-mobile replaced it (was within 14 days tho!) - you may be lucky with holidays and get them to simply swap the who boxed unit. Dj.vanbeek: i'm not sure if the original poster understood your reply, but it's easier for all our members to use English to reply unless it's a post in one of the specific language forums, if you would like to edit your post into english for the less 'multi-lingual' amongst us! Happy new year! |

www.imei-check.co.uk can unlock the vario2, as to Australia, it may be cheaper to get a payg sim over/under there... |

i have had this, especially in marginal signal areas (or 3g/gprs swapping points). also seems to happen when phone very low on battery. i find just going into comm managed, disabling data or wifi connection and enabling sorts it out. |

it looks like one of these chop up your existing sim cards and pop the chips into the frame. Never actually tried one, but the idea of chopping up a simcard does not appeal. i'm guessing they have vario2 software, or it swaps when you enable/disable radio off. |

if you have a UK address they can send it too (business or pleasure?), check tmobile and orange's sites, usually they offer free or £2UK postage paid sim cards, so it can be waiting for you (and cheaper than the shops will charge you). Maybe tmobile will have HSDPA up and running when you get here! |

I was really tempted to abort my 'ship jumping' until the CSR let me down, promising a ringback that day, and failing. Sorry but with 24 hour turnaround and USEFUL email communication T-Mobile are still tempting me. |

To be fair the CSR is going to investigate further and call me back today. if/when I get an update..... I'm not saying its wrong/right, but i'll wait and see! |

I'd just like to say thanks to all who attended, all who organised, and that noone lynched me for another 'Unique' quiz. Any quizzy feedback, too easy? See you at the next one! Will |

As many of you know, I was invited by Orange to attend their Partner Camp, in Sarasota Florida. To those who have not heard of Orange Partner, or the Camps, check out www.orangepartner.com, basically Orange have a special Partner Team, who are dedicated to helping both technical developers and content providers to get their product or service listed in the ‘Orange Catalogue’, the first step in a commercial agreement with Orange. ![]() Orange Partner Camp (the camp formerly known as Orange Code Camp) seems to have evolved from a focus on coding and technical sessions, to add more emphasis on content and services. With sponsors: ForumNokia, Symbian, UIQ, Sybase, PalmSource, Texas Instruments and new this year Tele-atlas, notable by their absence was Microsoft. This is quite a worrying development; hopefully the other events occurring across the USA at the same time provides the reasoning? On entering the ‘Colony Resort’ which was hosting the camp, my phone switched networks to Orange, giving the first indication that this was a serious event, Orange had put its own cell mast up to cover the site, and a big VPN link over to Bristol, so this was the Orange UK network, no roaming charges for me! Looking over to the beach, the Orange ‘Circus’ had definitely rolled into town, with a huge Big Top (location for the opening and closing ‘Pow-Wow’s), a plethora of inflatable Orange chairs, and Orange Staff milling about in every direction. ![]() With a mix in the style of the sessions; informative ‘insights into….’ and informal discussions ‘lets talk about….’, the insight based sessions catered for most abilities, with the ‘talk’ sessions being very relaxed, but chaotic at times, as most issues spurred everyone to contribute. Having attended the two European Code Camps, the session timings were more organised, specifically the fact that the popular or clashing sessions were repeated, and a vote was organised for sessions that were then re-run on the last day. Due to the shifted emphasis to content, I found all the sessions interesting, and a couple in particular superb, ‘an insight into …. Lipstick on a Pig’, ‘an insight into …. The Orange Devices Strategy’ and ‘an insight into how I made it through Orange Partner’ were particularly interesting, informative and useful. Check out the summaries on www.orangepartner.com,the post event information is now online. The emphasis on the delegates at the camp is to network and build contacts, both between themselves and into Orange as a company, a Developers Centre staffed by the Orange Partner Team. This was open all night, with all the latest gadgets and phones. Although no ‘exclusive’ new technologies were there; playing with the video glasses, watching streaming TV, and the opportunity to pitch products or discuss ideas with the Partner Team, made the Developers Centre busy throughout the camp. The sponsors’ area was also a busy place, with the bar, food and plenty of seating along with all the sponsors available, demonstrating and discussing new devices and offerings, including a sneak look at the new Linux based PalmSource Device. I had the opportunity to speak to lots of other delegates, before sessions, whilst eating, or at the evening parties, some I met for the first time, and others who seem to be regulars now. This event also seemed to have greater interaction with the ‘bigger bosses’ of Orange; Director of the Orange Partner program - Steve Glago, Vice President of Orange Group Devices - Yves Maitre and all the Orange Partner Team were in evidence talking to delegates over meals. If you are a developer or content provider, and would like to know more about how to get your product into the Orange catalogue, sign up for Orange Partner, read the session reports along with all the other information on the site, and hopefully I’ll see you at the next Partner Camp! What did I take away from the event? Well a few freebies of course, a slight tan, and some good memories, but best of all I now have the ‘Wizard of OZ’ calling tune on my c600 (a tune, accompanied by the usual ringing, played when ever anyone rings me!). Thanks to Amman, and all the Orange Partner Team for the invitation. |

After attending the two previous 'European' Orange Code Camps (Opio and Poitiers) with each being great events, I'm now off to Florida to see how the experience is over in the USA! For the official website click here, on the OrangePartner site . ![]() QUOTE In a fully-charged, non-stop, 50 hours, existing and potential partners will come together at Orange Partner Camp to create the future with Orange. - It's a bit of a non-stop event, so having spare time to post blogs is hard, so bear with me! of course i'll be publishing a full report on the event later.. Anyone else going? - reply to this thread and we'll meet up. Will (just explaining this trip to your significant other is a challenge! - when this is the resort!) |
