I've just received my i780 about 2 weeks ago. The phone came with the Garmin MobileXt software. the first time i installed the software i took a while for it to pick up the satellites. Then for about 3 days it work fine (Everytime used the software, it would find the satelittes within seconds). Since then i can't get it to work anymore. I've tried the following with no avail:
My best answer to you......always test settings outside. I have no problems with the default settings, but it doesn't work inside. |

I've had problems with this too. I reckon the phone doesn't charge over USB because the screen is always on (as mentioned in this post earlier) when connected to active sync. Thing is, if you turn the screen off (using power button) then the phone disconnects from active sync and stops charging! It's a no win situation. I've got round this by installing a programme called ActiveSyncToggle on the PC. It allows you enable/disable active sync. With active sync disabled the phone will charge over USB because the screen dosn't come on when connected to the computer. Of course, the phone dons't sync, but for me that's not an issue as i prefer to sync over GPRS anyway.... Hopefully some of you guys will find this useful. I solved the problem almost the same way. In activesync i just switched off "allow USB connections" in "connectionsproperties". Then the phone doesn't sync, but it still charges. |

This is how to unlock the GPS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...mp;postcount=39 Thanks, Nadavi My GPS works with the standard setup and without any third party software. When you test your GPS do it OUTSIDE.....never inside. |

I have te same problem, I just ordered this cable - i will update if works. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...N:IT&ih=014 to me it looks more like a defect in i780 firmware.... A solution is to turn the screen off while charging. The phone is by standard while charging set to have the screen on, but without the backlight and it uses to much power. |

I have had to use GPS Gate as without it I cannot get Route 66 to work. However, I am interested to know what your GPS settings are (i.e hardware/program port) and I'll try it on my device without starting GPS Gate. Thanks Matt I have not changed anything from the original setup. The GPS-programport is set to GPD1 The GPS-hardwareport is set to COM9 And in "access" there is a mark in "automatic" (translated from a danish version...sorry if it is not correct) Don't test this INSIDE. You have to be outside to test your GPS.....and be patient. |

Thanks for posting the manual! I read most of it on the plane back to the US and found a few helpful tips! Unfortunately, I still haven't found out if the "Automatic" profile is possible, and GPS Test just sits there scanning COM ports, so I'm not sure what to do with that. I'll check some of the other posts here on getting it working. Don't expect any answers from the users guide. This is my first phone with Windows Mobile Pro and I had a lot of questions about the use after 4 years on a smartphone ....and I did not find answers in the users guide :-D About GPS.... it works fine on my mobile with Garmin and Google Maps without installing any third party software. |

I have a Samsung SGH-I780 and it is my first mobile with touchscreen and full qwerty. I prefer to use only the qwerty keyboard, but I miss a tabulator button. It comes in handy when moving from one field to the next. When there is no tabulator and arrows on the keyboard you actualley have to use both keyboard and touchscreen at the same time. Any tricks? |

The mains charger produces more power than USB. I tend to leave my phone plugged in to USB while at work - but I have an Athena not a BJ. USB does not charge my Athena up with the screen on but holds it steady - unless I'm using HSDPA in which case it will drain the battery even while plugged into USB. With the screen off USB will charge the phone but a lot slower than the mains charger. HTH Thanks......I think I need one more power adapter :-D |

It sounds like it's trying to charge but not getting enough power - is the screen on when you try or have you tried leaving it overnight with the screen off? When connected with the USB the screen is on and ofcourse the background light is turned on when i touch the screen or othervise use the phone while connected. So what you are saying is the my computer might not put out enough power through the USB to charge the battery. Question: Does your phone charge when connected, but while the phone is turned off? Mine does connected to the power adapter....but not when connected with the USB. |

I have the same problem with Garmin Mobile XT....it keeps poping up even though the SD have not been out of the phone after the first install from the card. On my Garmin Mobile SD card it seems to work by renaming folder "2577". After the renaming I have not experienced unwanted start of the program. |

make the autorun.exe in \Windows read only......Autorun should stop working now. Also, I would recommend writing your own customised Autorun as I have. Makes life so much simpler... http://opennetcf.com/FreeSoftware/AutoRunM...55/Default.aspx cya I have the same problem with Garmin Mobile XT....it keeps poping up even though the SD have not been out of the phone after the first install from the card. |

The Synch and Charge cable that comes with the Greek version of the phone does actually both synch AND charge. Tested it yesterday night, plugging the phone with 60% battery and removing it with the battery at 100% this morning. Maybe you are using a laptop PC that does supply enough juice to the USB ports? No...I'm doing it from a desktop PC, where I the last couple of years have sync'ed and charged my HTC phone. |

I sync with an Exchange server using both USB-cable and GPRS. After syncronisation via USB at my work i often experience trouble when trying to sync after i have unplugged the USB cable. It is like it does not switch to GPRS. If I restart the phone, then there is no problem syncronisation via GPRS. In the setting "data connections" it is set to "automatic" in switching between INTERNET connections. Any with the same problem...and any solutions. |

Anybody tried to stream audio to Bluetooth headset. It worked perfectly for me on Qtek 8310 using Bluecast, however on Mteor Bluecast doesn't work. Interesting that when I push the button on headset sound is transferred to it for 2-3 seconds. I have a Jabra BT620. It works....but not as well as on my qtek 8310. There are more dropouts in the music.....especially when the phone is close to the headphones (strange). |

QUOTE The ClearVue installer is faulty. It installs the shortcuts to the storage card also. But they work fine when copied to start menu in memory. The bad news: The file extension links are also corrupted when installing to storage card. You need to set them maynually in registry or by file manager. I informed westtek about the problem and they announced an update per mail. After reporting the problem to clearVue Support, they have given me a serialnumber for ClearVue Suite which can be downloaded at their site. It works great...also installed on the SD card. It also associates the files perfect. |

QUOTE(mofo @ Nov 28 2005, 09:17) I have created the shortcuts in the start menu and it works fine. BUT when receiving an attached .doc file in a mail it does not recognize the file format. It worked fine when I installed ClearVue on the mobile and not the storagecard. Any solutions? |
