Good Idea for E200 Owners!

ive had mine about 2 days and yesterday i only got 7 hours out of the battery, with what id call normal use, i probably used about 20 mins mp3, and an hour gprs, one 5 min fone call, and prob 10 sms, and thats it.... 7 hours?

so until (i hope) htc or orange brings out a software patch for the known sd card problem and any other battery sucking software problem iv ordered one of these -

http://www.boxwave.com/products/minisync/m...nge_spve200.htm

im usually around a computer for most of the day, at college, or home, or my g/fs house, so i figure i can just top it up throughout the day with it  with international shipping it was about $22 so thats £15 ish? meaning its cheaper than the genuine charger! :( and i can use it to sync also :D

so i dunno, just thought id pass it on... but 7 hours.... thats unusable!

edit: also i figure coz its quite small i can just carry it with my fone in my pocket, but there should be no reason they can release a product claiming 3 days standby and i have to carry a charger JUST to keep it alive for 12 hours.... lets pray for a ROM update

nice looking thing but the cradle that comes with the spv E200 also charges the spv without the power cable.

for other spv users it maybe something also e200 users who do not like to use the cradle that comes with it

  • 3 weeks later...
I hope it works for you. I bought one when I had an SPV and found it didn't work with the E200. Very strange!

Strange indeed. I ordered one and it works as advertised. Its a little nifty gadget that I use when on the road or at work for a quick top-up and sync. Ans it prolly works on all computers with an USB port, just to get some juice in it when necessary.

The only problem I had was a (too) tight fit in the beginning. But with jiggling at a slight downward angle, it slides in every time now.

The dollar has fallen so much over recent weeks that $22 is now approx £12.69 so even better value.

That's me persuaded! Just ordered one!

Yes, I can confirm that the old E100 cables DO sync, but DONT charge. Bizarelly, It would seem that, going the other way, the E200 cables charge BOTH models of phone! The pinout must be different.

Thanks for confirming that. I wasn't sure whether there was something faulty with mine. Still, its a bit annoying after forking out for the original one. I think I might go for another one though if the exchange rate is that good. They are a useful bit of kit, and the cigarette lighter adapter still works that I bought with the old one.

Ive just tried my old orange sync cable( the one for the SPV that needed a power supply) and to my surprise it charges the e200 WITHOUT a psu plugged in...

to all who have one of these that works i.e. charges the phone...

wot does urs say on the bottom? the plug that connects to the fone?

coz mine says o2 xda which i wasnt bothered about before because they r both htc... but it doesnt appear to charge

so do urs say e200 on the bottom?

im tempted to order another, £24 for 2 is stil cheaper than £35 for the mains charger.... :)

I'm pretty confident that mine says 'Smartphone' in white lettering on the plug on the side that leads to the phone. I don't have it with me right now but I will check this tomorrow, at work.

Edit:

I just checked and it does say "Smartphone' as I thought. On the central hub is says: 'miniSync - with charger © 2002 BoxWave Corp.'

I've got one the same m8y and it seems to charge my E200 OK, although ten minutes to work out how to get the plug in the socket!

Ehm, guys, did anyone of you check the apparatus at the other end of the cradle-cable? The PC, 'cos that one has to supply the needed power. Power to usb can be disabled and is more than once by default disabled.

Ah well, just to be sure that it's mentioned.

Oh NO! Having delightedly received my parcel, I just had EXACTLY the same problem over the weekend - can anyone else confirm whether it works?

My cable also says 'O2/XDA' on it, and with it plugged into my laptop (which was turned on) the phone failed to charge. (but SAID it was charging) Although I was using it to make a phone call via bluetooth - is it possible that the battery was draining faster than it was charging?

....or is it just that they've sent me the wrong type of plug? Has anyone else got one with O2/XDA that actually WORKS?
