Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 20, 2004 Report Share Posted February 20, 2004 Not really worth doing as it's an earlier version leaked (stolen from moto) As for No6 in your list that the way the OS is designed to work, they may be in the back ground but they are not using much if any cpu time. As I have not had any of your other problems on my phone the fisrt thing to look at is a hard reset as you may ust have a lot of clutter causing your problems. About the generic flash rom...it isn't worth it. i haven't flashed it myself (too scared... :oops: ) but it really doesn't do much except rid the phone of m-mode (for att users). perhaps a new rom would come out (hopefully with sp2003!) It's one of the requirements of the Smartphone format, certified apps should not have an exit option but when not used should not hinder the running of the phone. And I've not had ANY problems with it... I'm a S/W developer and as such I did install the file manager and registry managers before anything else, but all in all I can safely say this is the best phone I've ever owned (and the first non-Nokia - I must say I'm converted!) But the biggest observation from reading all the forums / websites / docs seems to me to be that the US based AT&T version of the phone is the one causing all the bad reviews... All the Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone ones love it. Any possibility that it's to do with the AT&T branding b*ggering up the phone? Just my 2p's worth... I troubleshoot computers for a living and people bring a computer I built for them in and say it's broken or sucks. What really has happened is they looked up porn all day and got spyware on their comupter or plugged a cord in the wrong spot, etc etc. so what I am saying is that it's hard to trust user reviews when buying smartphones because there are so many possible scenarios where somebody could have a problem. I am careful of what i install on my mpx200 and I watch movies, listen to mp3s, print word documents from my phone, browse the internet and do a hundred other things I never would have thought I could do with a phone and experience no bad slowdowns or crashes. It can leave your phone open to viruses. There's a working speakerphone option? I couldn't get that to work - i presumed it was a missing feature that hadn't been removed from the list - just like camera. possibly it's cos my last mpx was junk - i'll try it on the new one.
