Guest egghead101
Can anyone let me know if they are having problems with the car charger for the spv200. I bought the orange one and a USB one and both seem useless. Any long journey with Bluetooth and calls seems to mean my phone goes dead quickly..... It took 3 hours for my phone to die today :x Red light on charger is showing and the red light on phone. Even the symbol on screen shows cable connected but still the phone does not charge...........................
Guest shampoo
I've had the exact same problem with a charger I brought from m-99.co.uk - I have emailed them today asking for a replacement or refund. Did you purchase this from Orange? I'd be interested to hear what they have to say when you phone them to discuss the problem. Thanks Matt
Guest egghead101
Yes I bought the charger from Orange shop. I know its not the car because my ericsson used to charge fine. Both my USB lead and normal car charger are both doing the same thing.......
Guest carlosp_uk
I've also had big problems with a USB charger that mysteriously won't charge the E200. I'm starting to wonder (as you mention Bluetooth) - do you think it's possible that using Bluetooth takes up SO much power that the phone cannot charge at the same time? Guest egghead101
I think that with using the phone and bluetooth the charger probably can't keep up. Though I do notice the bars go down quicker on the charger than without.......
Guest richardpotts
I am on my second Orange car charger for my E200 now and I'm wondering whether to take it back to the Ornage Shop. Both chargers appear to charge i.e. the lights come on on the charger and the phone but the phone does not charge! I think the problem must lie with the phone connections because I have managed to charge the phone with the car charger but only the once!
Guest mattgod69
I am on my second car charger and whilst the lights come on on the charger and the phone it does not appear to charge. It does charge the E100 though. It makes no difference if you turn the phone off, it still does not charge. Rubbish! I am going to take mine back. Is there any charger that does actually work? XDAII? Will that damage the phone connectoprs etc. Cheers for any assistance.
Guest jarm
I had the same problem with 2 car chargers. I then used the battery monitoring utility in xbar and found that the car charger initially sucked power from the battery! If you unplug it and plug it back in it begins to charge, xbar shows a + current drain, but sometimes you have to plug/unplug a few times to get it charging. Guest mattgod69
I took my second charger back to the orange shop. They gave me a refund. They agreed that although the charger states it is for the E200 on it, it does not charge the E200. It works fine with the E100 though. Does anyone know of a charger that will work. This is crazy, a car charger is basic stuff......Orange have a lot of making up to do!
Guest Rusty
I too returned a supposed E200 compatible car charger to the Orange shop cos the thing just didn't charge the battery despite the charge light coming on. Went and got an XDAII charger from the O2 shop and this worked a treat :) also doubled as a USB sync cable aswell. Bear in mind that although the connectors are the same for XDAII and SPV E200, they are mounted upside down in the E200 so you have to plug the charger in upside down as it were. Guest NeilStewart
I can confirm the E200 charger from Orange DOESN'T charge the E200  BUT the (cheaper) charger from pdaaddons DOES! :) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...item=4131999395

Guest madds
I use a synk and charge kit that qtek.com.pt sales in portugal comes with a usb sync-&_charge a wall socket adaptor and a car-lighter adaptor. Works fine for me. In the box says that it's suitable for qtek 2020 (aka xda2/mda2) Costs about 35 euros
Guest thepog
I had purchased a USB/Sync cable from smartphoneaddons.com which should have been suitable for a E200. Plugged the cable into my PC and Phone, Active Sync picked up the fine. The problem was that the charge symbol appeared and the LED changed but the phone didn't charge. A quick e-mail to the customer services cam back with "that some E200 don't charge via the lower voltage that these chargers produce". Sounds dodgy to me, but great service. I received my refund by lunch time!!
Guest yoos
I agree thepog, smartphoneaddons.com has great customer service, but their car/usb chargers do not always charge the phones. To me these chargers are not reliable, I would not recommend them, and I don't understand why they claim they are compatible with Voyagers / E200's. The one I bought from pdaaddons works fine so I would recommend the one they sell...
Guest Bob the Gooner
:) I have purchased a car charger (E200) lead from an Orange Retail shop, and had to return it several times. The leads will only charge a battery that is over 3/4 full, anything under and it will drain the power instead of charging. I spoke to GODS @ Orange :x and at first they replaced my phone, then the battery and still the same. I am on my 5th phone with different faults. I am not a computer whizz but it looks like a software issue, the same as another annoying thing: I cannot view maps on Streetmap, but can on my E100. Beat that then, 'cos thats what I feel like doing to my E200(with a big stick)

According to this, this is a software problem. However, there is a hardware workaround if you are willing to modify the connector - simply disconnect pin 20, 21 and 22 from USB +5V and your cable will be able to charge the Xphone/e200 successfully. I've done this mod myself and verified that it works.
