Guest stuF
yeah, or aeroplane on/off. took out sim andSD waited 30 seconds, took off battery, waited 30 seconds, all the stuff they tell you when you ring support, wouldnt normally be too bothered, but this isnt a contract handset, and im a poor student! is there a history with this type of thing like there is with nokias? Guest stuF
asked customer service and got this reply: Dear Stuart Thank you for your mail. I am sorry to learn of the inconvenience that you have suffered as a result of a recent network outage. I have investigated your postcode area and am pleased to confirm that Orange offer high quality signal coverage. The recent issues affecting you are not indicative of the overall service provided. It is regrettable that, during this period you have been inconvenienced. I am pleased to confirmed the site repairs have now been complete and your coverage should have returned to normal. Once again I apologise for any inconvenience this has caused. Kind regards Neil Orange customer services -------------------------------- not sure whether this means there was a problem or not, but my phone is still not getting any network coverage. I reckon my phone must be buggered.

Guest squall
I wasn't getting a signal on my e100, hard reset did no good, rerunning update fixed it though. The signal just disappeared one day, very strange.
Guest stuF
ok, reinstalled the 1.6.10 update, when the p[hone powers up, i get a signal now, but it comes up saying invalid SIM card, blah blah blah, if the problem persists contact your customer service advisor or somthing like that.. I took it to a phone shop and asked the guy there about it, he said i needed to restore the phone to its original state. He also said that they were expecting a new SPV ROM update next week, but this was probably just flannel... anyone know what i should do to get my phone working again? Guest squall
glad you got a signal at least. try rubbing the sim card - quite often when i have it out my phone i have to wipe it for it to work again - read here along time ago it was due to static, but it may just be dirt. Regarding the update, i've heard strong rumours that it will be here in the next couple of weeks so hopefully... what did the guy mean 'restore the phone to the original state? surely he cant mean that you shouldn't have installed the 1.6 update. also i would phone CS rather than going to an orange store, most of the time the people in the store dont know what they are talking about, and although CS may not either at least they got a computer to help them
Guest stuF
cheers, will give the rub a try, bbut im pretty confident it wont work! i think he meant that i should try and restore factory settings to the phone, no software or anything like that, ill prob. try a hard reset, see what happens from there! Guest nvkid909
 i am having this problem today (friday), & have had it before, it resolved itself the next day but i had an infuriating time with no answers. i had important stuff to get at & was majorly inconvenienced. settings correct (had them checked, new ones sent, soft reboots etc etc..) service worked fine yesterday. engineer told me that service was not unusually busy (for a friday). i think it's a gprs network problem but nobody knows anything about it. i can't send pics or log onto orange email, messenger or hotmail. i don't believe hard resetting is the answer as it was working recently & settings are the same. i'm not looking for answers as i've experienced this temporary royal pain before - i just think it's a very poor show that i have to wait a whole day (or more) before it comes back on, without anyone knowing what the problem was. i believe that it IS to do with heavy traffic & some people get locked out because of it (last time it happened to me.... FRIDAY  )
Guest nvkid909
 .... just proved my theory. now at the pc, no need to do stuff via the 'shiny metal pet'. have just "signed in on another computer" (phone)... there you go, see! :) obvious innit! wanna do business stuff AND sort out the weekend plans, i'm only contributing to the traffic! so don't waste your time trying to fix your settings, it really is TUFF LUCK
