dang, i called the mitac service center in fremont california, and they said that since the 8390 is not carried in the us they can't fix it. THey said for me to call either the hong kong number or the taiwan number. What do i do?!?!?

I suppose you could try registering at http://www.mitacservice.com/visitor/v_inqhome.asp and then sending them an enquiry. I probably wouldn't phone around (yet) as this might cost you a lot of money :D
