I have 500 minutes nationwide, unlimited in network (verizon to verizon) voice and unlimited data with my i600. It costs me $100/mo. the data is about 44/mo of that total.

One thing about verizon is that thier coverage is excellent. I travel all over the US and it has always gotten a signal everywhere Ive been.

I have the 39.99 minimum voice plan (400 minutes, free nights/weekends and unlimited in-network), and the 44.99 unlimited PDA plan. I used to have t-mobile before Verizon also, and Verizon is so much better, especially with the data. When I had T-mobile, quite often the GSM phone signal would be strong but I couldn't get GPRS to work. GPRS is very unreliable and even when it worked, it was dreadfully slow. Verizon's Express Network flies compared to GPRS and I've yet to have a problem of not being able to connect. I've been using it for about 4 weeks now since I switched from T-mobile and I've been very happy with it.

I had the Sony Ericcson T610 and I was using a Pocket PC for internet through the bluetooth connection.

Yes, I'm very happy with the i600. The only thing I don't like is that it's a flip phone and has one major limitation in my opinion: It hangs up its connection whenever you close the flip. So, for example, you cannot stay signed into an instant messenger while the phone is in your pocket. It will sign you out and disconnect as soon as you close the flip to put the phone back in your pocket. Also, the speaker phone does not work unless the flip is open for the same reason. It will hang up the call as soon as you close the flip, even if you are on speaker phone. However, I think the hands free headset does work with the phone closed, although I haven't tried it yet. I'm not a big headset fan myself and will probably never use one.

Other than that, I like everything about the phone. I feel like I'm carrying a mini-computer around in my pocket. And I don't get frustrated anymore waiting for GPRS to connect. Verizon's Express Network always works, and it works quickly. I never wait more than 5-10 seconds for a web page to load. And I can even stream audio and video files from the internet. It's pretty convenient to be able to watch movie previews while you're on the ticket line at the movie theater and you're trying to decide which movie to see.

Well, I guess that depends on what you do. I tend to browse pages that are set up for PDA's or smartphones, so they are rather small, but they usually load in about 5 seconds or so. If I try to load a regular full size page, it usually takes around 15 seconds. Also, I am able to stream audio and video from the web and usually the video is not choppy, unless I am in an area with poor reception. Basically, when using PDA-formated pages, it will feel similar to when you use broadband on a regular computer.

Dear Eric5273 you wrote "Also, the speaker phone does not work unless the flip is open for the same reason. It will hang up the call as soon as you close the flip, even if you are on speaker phone." If you use the headphones while listening to music, close the clamshell, and THEN pull out the headphone jack, music will play through the speaker while the phone is closed.

As far as coverage goes I live in VA and I get four bars at all times except for when I'm at work in a firewall encased warehouse and then I only get two bars. I'm on a family share plan with 800 AT/Unlim. N&We and any data stuff I do is deducted from voice as I could not justify $45 for a faster data connection. -MalKiE
