Can't install private certificate on Verizon/Samsung i600

The main reason I upgraded to WM2003 on my i600 was that the new OS was supposed to allow you to install root certs for enterprise PKIs. However, it now appears that Verizon and Samsung don't plan to support this.

:P I followed the instuctions on Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 841060 "How to add root certificates to Windows Mobile 2003 Smartphone and to Windows Mobile 2002 Smartphone" (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;841060), but this install fails with a message saying "Error adding certificate. The phone may be locked".

I called Verizon, they escalated to Samsung, and the Samgsung support guy said that they aren't supporting this capability, at least for now.

I think this is BS, but don't know where to turn next.

I want to use it to synch with Exchange w/o having to use a public certificates or disabling cert checking.

Anyone else know a solution to this problem?

Thanks,

Peter

Same issue here.

I did find a command line application which I was able to use to stop requiring the certificates to be trusted on the entire machine

Certchk.exe

DisableCertCheck

I found that app on the microsoft site somewhere.
