Getting my C500 sometime soon and i was wondering how much faster transfering files to the SD Card is when it is still in the phone? As it will get a tad annoying having to turn the phone off to put the card in a card reader... :)

unless it works the same as my E100, where you can remove the battery without switching the phone off as long as you keep the battery charger plugged in

I was really hoping that would be the case, as all 3 previous versions of SPV allowed you to remove the battery whilst it's on charge, but unfortunately, the C500 is different

So no way of "hot swapping" mini sd cards

Yea, thats one serious gripe I have with the C500 design. But since its interface is USB not serial it should be much quicker. I guess they had to do it to make the phone smaller, but why not use standard SD instead since its already under the battery? Things must be really crammed in on that phones PCB!

It took me about 12 seconds to transfer a 2.4mb movie clip. So about 5 seconds per meg. It seems very fast compared to the Canary. Certainly Media Player whips through transfer from cds (the only hold up is the conversion of the files).

hmm, that's another thing, Anyone using the Windows Media Player 10 beta, does it recognise the storage card in the phone, cos with E200 it only recognises the phone's memory...

if I am transferring to the phone's memory or to storage, I normally compress tracks to smallest size - acceptable if you are not an audiophile (and if you are you ought to buy an iPod to store 192khz music), and albums are normally no more than 10-12 mb. Which is less than a minute's transfer time. It does take some time for the computer to convert the file, but this would be the same regardless of transfer times.

If you are at work, all this can conveniently be done in the background.

In the version 10 beta I'm using it recognises the C500, storage and storage card fine.

Transfer speed is much higher then my old phone as well.
