Does anyone have any idea of when a version of SP2 which doesn't kill 9/10 PC's will be released ^_^

I confirm

Sony Vaio (TR1MP) with built in bluetooth

Running XP SP2

Orange SPV C500 smartphone

COM5 set up (Inbound) using the bluetooth setup icon

Can pair devices and use C500 as modem over bluetooth ok, took 2 mins to get this working

Cannot activesync running over BT though - I've tried every method described on this board

Is it XP SP 2 ?  Or is it me ?

(I get the message saying "please bond with other bluetooth device which supports serial port or activesync profile as your activesync partner")

AN.

It's you :(

This subject has been done to death. Have you read http://smartphone.mo...th sp2&start=30 and http://smartphone.mo...t=bluetooth sp2 or http://smartphone.mo...t=bluetooth sp2 for starters.

If you still have problems let us know what you've got  and what error you are getting and I'm sure someone will be able to help.

SP2 certainly doesn't make it easy and there are so many places it can go wrong it seems to be different for everyone but I think most bases have been covered in previous threads.

Welcome to the forum! :)

Ignore message about bond with BT device - it is advice not a warning. Appalling design, basically. So bad that I ended up spending 2 days of shouting at my laptop trying to reinstall my widcomm BT drivers, SP2 having replaced them with MS drivers which I assumed were shash. Having succeeded I found the problem was with the message on the phone. Having got this message, go to activesync on the phone and select menu, connect via BT. No doubt you will encounter a new problem but at least you will be back on the path to enlightenment.

This is driving me crazy! I've got a C500 and I've been trying to use activesync over BT. I've gone through all the advice on these posts and just can't get it to work.

My main problem seems to be that my Local Options tab shows that the BT Serial port is on Com 10, but my only options on Active Sync are Ports 1 and 3 and USB and IR. I am not able to select any other ports.

Anyone come across this?

in you local services try adding a serial port, call it active sync for the sake of these purposes.

If the port assigned is not one available in activeshync's serila port listing uninstall and reinstall.. hopefully this time that port should become available.

then follow all the other suggestions and hopefully things should work this time

Thanks for the suggestion but I've tried that and it only gives me port numbers above 10. Already tried reinstalling with no success.

Am about to give up and take my dongle back.

was going to recommend - http://geekzone.co.n...?contentid=2643, however it looks like the BT serial ports not being installed correctly... try installing a few other ports in the local services.... also the microsoft stack doesnt support  serial port configurations.

Anyway reinstall your BT software and check in PC hardware profiles how many BT serial ports are installed and where, if nothing is progressing it may be an idea to get that dongle exchanged

When it has installed the port go and change it for a lower number. Provided you know the port is not "In Use" then you can safely ignore all the warnings and it will work.

Good luck :)

I can't remember the actual posts on the forum, but there's a good number og posts on getting Bluetooth dongles working on the GSM forums (forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=237).

Mostly they discuss getting the WIDCOMM drivers to work with your dongle under SP2.. I followed the instructions for the v4.xxxx drivers and it worked straight away.

To get round the disconnect issue without having to turn it off on the phone, just go into the bluetooth settings on the PC and tell it to disconnect the serial port connection.

iPhone 4, Nokia X6, Nokia E71, T-Mobile MDA Touch, T-Mobile MDA Vario, Orange SPV500, Nokia 6310, Nokia 6210, Nokia 5110, Ericsson T68, Nokia 2110, Mitsubishi Something, Panasonic Something (analogue, woo!)

Well, dave, we can't recognise your device either as you haven't told us! Or your OS come to that. A bit more info wouldn't go amiss.

Under devices do you have a BT Modem?

This is the situation I wound up in after about 10-12 hours of messing with my BT connection.

I'd just like to add that it's entirely possible that you will never get it working.

Unless I see evidence otherwise my position is that the Microsoft Desktop for Bluetooth dongle (the one that comes with the keyboard/mouse combo) with XP2 (the only real drivers for it anyway) and an SMT5600 DO NOT work together.

The closest you can come is having ActiveSync start the sync process and then refuse to go any further becuase it "cannot recognize this device".

I have read many many threads and tried it all, used Active Sync 3.7 and 3.8, rebooted endlessly.

It just doesn't work.

The answer can be found in my reply here.

revolution.cx - it may nopt be as easy as it could be but if you read the guide in this lnk then you should be able to get it working.
