Confused About Price Plans

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Looking to get a pay monthly contract again and the C500 looks very nice so far. I've been looking around for a good deal on it and the Orange website shows a Your Plan 120 for £15 a month with 30 SMS included. Unfortunately you can't order the C500 from their site.

Every other website I've looked at has the Your Plan 120 at £25 a month and without any SMS.

Obviously the one direct from Orange is better but how would I get the C500 to go with it? Or is there anywhere that'll match the Orange site price and give me a shiny new C500?

cheers.

The tariff for £15 (120 mins and 30 texts) you would pay £79.99 for the C500

Thanks for the info. It actually works out cheaper to get the Your Plan from the Orange site and pay 79.99 for the phone. Saves £40 a year :)

Will phone Orange and have a wander into a shop tomorrow.

thanks again

Hi ,

Just from experience , i seen better prices for C500 and SPV M1000 online at sites like www.fones4free.com

C500 - The YPlan 60 is under £20/month for 60mins xnet for under £45.

Otherwise 240mins on YPlan 120 with £75 Cashback ( which works out at under £20/mth!). Plus there is free Orange insurance and voicemail and other cashback / reduced line rental if you use it for work.

Does anyone want to give it a review in comparison to what they've seen.?

I got the Your Plan 200 with 500 free texts for £30, from an orange store - he did say something about it being an online price match, though.

That's annoying, my local store wouldn't match the online tariffs (the usual "we're a different company, we can't match that" blah blah red tape excuse), so I've got to wait until whenever Online gets some stock (the instore £25 tariff was poor compared to the online one, with only 100 texts instead of 250, and less inclusive minutes)

First post :P ... just changed from T-Mobile to Orange and got myself a C500 (changed mainly because of T-Mobile's poor selection of handsets).

Orange head office, or whatever the central sales number is, were not very helpful.

So I went to my local Orange Shop (Poole, Dorset). who were very helpful, and said they can match some tarriffs from the website, but not all of them.

I went for the Your Plan tarriff which has 120 minutes calls, 60 texts, 1Mb GPRS and 1 Java game download per month for £25. With that, I got the handset for free.

It did seem that other stores such as Carphone Warehouse couldn't do any variations on the 120 minutes (ie. no free texts and no GPRS included in the price). Well, thats what they said when I phoned them anyway.

Another offer to watch out for. If you have a friend or family member who has an Orange mobile, you can fill in a little card with their phone number, name and address, and Orange give you a £50 credit on your account, and them a £25 credit for "recommending" you to the service.

I went for 12 months of Orange Care, because the £50 credit nearly paid for it :)

Hope this helps,

Steve.

Steve,

Had something similar in an Orange shop today. 2 shops in Leeds said they won't match online tariffs and the YP120 for £25 a month was the best they could do (with double minutes for 6 months). Didn't say anything about text messages or GPRS though. One shop is going to call on Wednesday when they get some more C500s in so will ask about it. The recommend a friend thing was the same, they get £25 and you get £50 of call time. Plus if you take an old handset in (as long as it charges and turns on that's all you need. No box, cables or anything) you'll get another £50 of calltime.

Can't get through to the Orange website phone line to see what offers they have but I may go for the £25 a month even though it's a bit more than I wanted to pay.

Annoys me how you get a different answer from different people in different stores though. C'mon Orange, some consistancy would be nice!

Heh heh, finally got through to the Orange website. The guy I spoke to said they won't have it in until the end of the month but it's passed "all its tests". He reckons it will cost 149.99 on any tariff less than £25.

Orange retail can match and will match, providing its been asked for. If your having trouble let me know

You could have another £50 credit if you hand in your old handset

How can I get the Leeds store to match the £15 a month/120 minutes? It was the store manager I was talking to and he was adamant they couldn't (wouldn't?) match. I'd be getting recommended by a mate and taking an old handset.

cheers

Think it was Albion St, the one nearest WH Smiths anyway :) Thanks for hte help btw. Don't mind paying 80 quid for the handset cause the nice 15/month tariff and handset trade in offsets that.

Please keep us (me) updated. I need  the c500 and it seems the best way to get it is for my girlfriend to open a new account with Orange. The online 20 min @ £15 pm inc 30 sms tariff looks very good value and if we can get more credits by mentioning my existing contract and trade in an old phone, I'll be happy. I'd prefer buying from a store, but if they can't/won't match the online tariff I probably won't.

Are the trade-in and 'recommend a friend' limited to store purchases only? Or can they be made online too?

Ah interesting, I might try again tomorrow (and tell them a white lie along the lines of "the Orange Shop are out of stock but they told me that the same offer is available instore if I ask specifically" ;-)

Store purchases only.

Recccomend a friend can only be used when setting up a brand new account.

I had trouble because the store wouldn't match what I'd seen online. In fact, they told me the best thing I could do was complain to Orange Customer Relations, saying that I was going to leave and they would give me the same tariff. So, to get the tariff you want, they prefer you to shout at their staff. Very poor customer service and shows they don't give a toss about their staff.

Orange retail can only match what direct are doing.

By the sounds of things you are trying to move onto this tariff by upgrading. This cant be done and direct cant do this either.

Only people that can do it are customer relations

I called two Orange shops prior to getting my c500 (on a new contract). The first shop didn't have any in stock, but said they would match the online tariff.

The second shop did have them in stock and also matched the online tariff. They gave me £50 for an old Nokia too.

My girlfriend has cancelled her O2 contract so she can buy the c500 now. Plan to pick it up tomorrow. Hope to get the £50 trade in and use the recommend a friend offer. It will be from a different shop to the two I have already spoken to, so if they say I can't have the online tariff I should just be able to say, 'But you can, I did it on Wednesday!'

Damn! I wanted the PAC code ready for the new contract/phone tomorrow, but O2 send them out by post. I won't get it until next week. Last time I asked for my PAC I got it there and then. Damn, damn, damn.

Now, do I cancell the reserved c500? Or take it, but lose her number. :-k

Do you have to port a number at point of sale, or can it be done a few days later?
