All I would say by way of reply, is that it's been that way since I joined, which was a way long time ago now it seems, and if I was made to change it now, after it was amended at the request of Mods right back when I joined, then to say I would be absolutely livid would be a bit of an understatment mate. I appreciate fully what you are saying, but I think it's a pretty damn poor ICT Manager who deems that to be pornography... Implied innuendo, without doubt - even daring... But no breasts, genitalia or such on display, so mate, i CANNOT agree with you alas. And this has been agreed upon by MANY MANY users, pros' and old timers, LONG BEFORE NOW mate. If nothing else mate, assuming your genuine, and not just stirring it up (and I beleive you are being genuine), then all one needs do before visiting modaco, is go into Internet Explorer options, and disable display of images... So, to reiterate... I see your point to a degree, but feel its a pretty damn poor ICT department that would take such a draconian view, and whilst it's ultimately a matter for the Mods, this was supposedly resolved years back. My ire would be on the basis that if it were to be made to change, it should have been back then in the year dot. To permit it for however long, THEN to decide it needs to be removed, is IMHO, unfair. That was the reason for saying what I had. And whilst I see what you say about my siggie ( grins ) then no, not exactly. If everyone was linear, you'd be entirely correct. But people aren't. There are many, many fairly regular users who have been members yonks before me, without as high a post count. So what I was indicating is that I must be a pretty regular poster, to have ensured that no keen member joining after me, posts more often. I'm still explaining it badly, but there you go. The feat I was alluding to, was that I have posted regular enough to have ensured no one joining after me has posted more than me. That's not an automatic point. There are many, many, many members who have had people join after them and post far more often than them. Indeed, I myself joined long after the poster who has issue with my avatar. But I have posted double his posts. BUT>>>> Before we get to embroiled - that's not an earth shattering fact - it was just a little curio that I was mentioning by way of my siggie. (Sometimes I think you live here ,-) - little joke - I guess I just notice because the flashing pics are annoying). - Besides I already had some wired faces looking at me; especially from the ladies in my office. They don’t seem to appreciate it very much, in large part because they see the flashing pics faster then the text I am reading! So I thought I might ask if you would be so kind and change it to something more appropriate. Given that this forum is not focused on pornography or erotic, but on a technical note, right? - if you like erotic pics so much that you cant live without then maybe change it to something more tasteful like good looking models or something similar. (of course not nude) - Anything is better than lesbian action and ladies with big boobs and see-through tops – flashing on my screen during lunch time at work. And can I be really open and say that as far as the 'moral' argument goes, you might just even be right... you might just. I did not ask that as a hypothetical question. I expected a clear and sensible answer. What should be noted is that is my own personal view, others do seem to find it offensive or are just out to wind you up How about you put the subject to rest in this bug thread and open a new thread on the subject in the general forum. Stick a vote on it and get a majority view. @Admin/Mods .. a quick and simple solution would be to add an option in each users profile to either show or hide avatars. Nevertheless, I am grateful indeed to those members who have shared the view I hold, that my avatar is not excessive. Notwithstanding that support however, I will, even though it is now almost one year on since this was supposedly put to bed (and some members have left it rather late in the day to suddenly complain - their embarresment over that fact is something they themselves CAN NOT quickly cast off), accede to the majority wish over this, or even clearly, the miority wish, if it is the only way to restore order to the site. And that being the case, I have a modified avatar already completed, should the Moderators feel it necessary for me to change mine. I should warn those unhappy members that they are in for a little bit of a shock if I am asked to change my current avatar, as it is NOT a completely different one, it is a dumbing-down of the current image. But as a regular contributor to this site, and a dedicated member, I MUST be responsible, and if that means giving in to what I feel is a loud MINORITY, as opposed to a far far larger and obvious silent MAJORITY (clearly, from the thousands and thousands of members of this site, if ten, twenty or even thirty complain about my avatar, that means that there are still thousands of proper members who have NO complaints about it - and that is an argument I have not tried to use to my advantage before now), then in the intersts of peace and accord within this forum, then nevetheless, the minority will alas have to suceed. Ultimately, the biggest weapon they have is not fact, or democratic majority or anything else like that - it's simply their ability to complain, and thus lead to resentment and division on the boards. And being responsible, alas I cannot allow that to happen - it would not be right of me. So the minority will win no doubt. But I thank you all for your support. So, to the Mods, if you feel that it would be best for the intersts of the board and peace, for me to change the avatar, pm me, or MSN me, or just say so on here, and I will change it to a dumbed down version of the current avatar that I have already created for such an eventuality. And once again Mods, my apologies, but I was under the belief that this was put to bed a year ago, I never thought someone would wait a year to complain... The fact that only ten or twenty members feel it necessary to complain, out of membership of several thousand, does not mean much to them. Nor does the fact that they could have complained (in some cases) almost a year ago about it, but curiosly, never saw it necessary to do so until now. Having made those two points, which they will need to go away and suck on, then i don't feel as if I have lost, if I need to change my avatar - as i might have lost the battle, but I will then have won the argument by a million miles. And the battle wasn't the real issue in all of this was it... So let me know what you want me to do Mods, and I will of course do it at once. What i dont understand max is why cant you turn off the pictures, and furthermore cant you simply explain to your coworkers that the site is a messageboard and the picture is something somone else chooses to display next to thier messages. This would take 20 seconds to explain. If that is the case, wouldnt the pics just be a lighter version of porn-ish pics offered there? Tell me if I'm wrong, It's been so long, I forget. I was always a teeeny tiny bit perturbed(sp?) by your avatar. Not because it offends me personally (I've been known to view a nudie pic or two in my lifetime), but because I don't really think it belongs here. But it never was outright porn, and I'm in the US and standards may be different there, and no one else complained, so who was I to argue. There is also an pic of a full ass-shot of some square-assed chick in a red thong as someone avatar here on the site. I was never 100% appreciative of that one either...but again, I never knoew where the limits lie here at Modaco. I figured if it hasn't been taken down yet, it's probably considered okay. But in the end...there are a wide range of users here. Though 90% are probably male geeks between 25 and 35...the other 10% are probably kids and women who need to be considered on these issues. EDIT: I take back the word porn-ish. After looking at a related TextAmerica site linked from your site...I am reminded of the content of the previous sites mentioned...whew!
