Theme Changer Version 4

After far to much time I have released Theme Changer Version 4. Theme Changer allows you to change home screen themes, system screens, and windows media skins at the touch of a button.

New in version 4 is sound support; it supports changing system event sounds (eg startup), loading them off a storage card, sound themes, and includes a sound script editor. As well as the usual bug fixes and tweeks.

Also released was a Home screen pack and a sound theme pack.

See: http://homepages.inspire.net.nz/~gambit/ for the FREE download.

This is fantastic.

One question though, is it possible to still use WMA files as ring tones in the themes? I have some already on my phone (C500) and they work ok when selected through Settings/Sounds, but they do not appear in the sounds list in the Theme Changer. I have tried moving the WMAs to different locations on the phone (such as storage/app data/sounds and in the Theme folders and also just in the root of the storage card) but they still don't appear.

I don't really want to have to change my favourite tones to WAVs to make them work.

rameses, i didn't know it was support by smartphone, it's just a matter to adding that into the code that looks at the sounds directory, hopefully the next release will do it

g4mb17,

great! this is more than just a theme changer now. it's more like a profile where you can set sounds for your themes. i like it a lot. nice update.

good point lukeap, i hadn't thought of it as a "profile" changer, but i suppose it is. I will have to remember that when i'm making interface changes in future.

I am really impressed with this, especially now my WMA ringtones work again.

I have a further request / question. Is there anyway to to change the scheduling to allow custom time to be entered or add in some other choices such as 3 or 4 hours?

All I need to do now is learn how to use XML and create some of my own homescreens and backgrounds.

s0tz, i've heard of this from one other person, i will try and have a look through the code and see if i can see whats going on.

rameses, the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, L"SOFTWAREThemeChanger

ScheduleTime" is the number of seconds between changes, so you can edit that if you like.

  • 4 weeks later...

I'm having a problem with version 4

latest firmware from Cingular on my MPx220

When I select the OSx theme it only takes me as far as the profile on the program bar at the bottom. How can I get further along the bar?

also, is there a way to change what programs are on that bar?

Still new to customizing the phone, so any help would be great!

Hello g4mb17

Congrats for you shweet s/w.

Today I bought me self a new Qtek (8020) and sold the good ol' 8080

I noticed a problem with theme manager that didn't exist on my 8080

If I put my themes @ the StorageCard Instead of my phone memory

then the themes that have custom menu pictures

and custom warning/info screens those bitmaps won't appear at all(!)

----edit

I kinda sorted out the problem by adding @ the \storage\my documents\theme manager\

a .txt file for each theme containing/describing inside all the needed files....

Why Don't you add the feature to Theme Manager to manually or automatically

check for these files(Inside theme's folder) and associate 'em with the theme

and create intantly the appropriate.txt file....

and also the ability (xtra menu?) to let the user customely choose

which picture to place for each event (yell, incall, alert, startup, etc)

rather than using theme's specific, wouldn't that be nice?!

-----end edit

also I have sent you a greek translation @ your e-mail account

many days ago and I haven't received any responce....

Have you received me mail?

sXmen,

try this:

ThemeChangerv4 - no security

cubik,

I've had this reported by a couple of people, i can't reproduce it on my phone, so i will try and make up a version with some logging to see whats going on.

wr6x,

those extra icons are just eye-candy :-(, to edit the theme you need to edit the file:

\Storage\Application Data\Home\dx_osx.home.xml

open it with a text editor (on your PC) and have a look round, i can't remember off hand where the programs are, down the bottom i think.

sugadad,

I don't think i got your email, i'll check again tonight when i get home.

Re: Changing event pictures, yes thats a good idea. I'll put that on my list (it's number two, with scheduled changing of themes)

Re: The text files, I put up a version last night that fixed a bug which affected this. now if the theme is on a Storage Card, it will place the text file on the storage card too.
