Version 2.2 of SMSNotify 2004 has now been released.

senderdisplay-defaultpopup.jpgsmsreminder-popup.jpg

New in this release is SPAM Guard which allows you to filter out SMS messages from contacts not within your contact list. You can also apply a content filter which allows you do treat messages as SPAM based on words in the context of the message. A useful feature for those who receive junk SMS's all receive lots of SMS messages from various computer systems.

These options affect all incomming SMS messages, though they can also be applied individually at the contact level thus individual users can be blocked or have content filters applied only to their SMS messages.

When a message is treated as spam, you choose to either delete the message or move it automatically from your inbox into your recycle bin folder for later viewing. These options can also be unique to each user, thus some users can have their messages deleted while messages from other users can be kept for viewing later.

Also new is this release is the ability to set reminders to contacts. When they send you a message, if it is not acknowledged a reminder window will popup every X (user defined minutes) and play their tone and optionally vibrate the device to remind you.

Want a visual representation of incomming SMS messages, in V2 you could assign photos to contacts and have a popup dialog with their image and message text when they text you. Now you can do this for all incomming messages. If active, a dialog will appear with the senders number and message text. From this dialog you can also immediately reply to the sender so you no longer have to click back to go into your inbox.

Coming soon is a free extension which will allow the SMS reminder function to work on all incomming messages, not just users with events assigned within SMSNotify.

Version 2.2 is available immediately from smartphone.net in release and demo version.

Hi Jason. Great program!

You sent me this program earlier today (I registered through Paypal) and I am playing around with it right now. No doubt this will result in a few questions, and here's the first :D

I am using a forwarding system that sends me a SMS, whenever I get new email. Of course this happens a LOT, so I need to tone this down a bit. Only problem is that this system doesn't show a normal phone number as sender ID, but just a 'name' called 'New Email'.

When reading the SMS there's an option to add the sender to the contact list, but since this only adds the name 'New Email' and not a number, the contact is unrecoqniceable by SMSNotify. Any way to work around this problem? Thanks.

Hi,

If you go into your inbox and have a look at these messages you receive when you get an email, in the From Field it says 'New Email' right?

Does it say that as well if you move the "cursor" over the name. Normally it pops up a tool window with the senders number.

Good stuff Jason :D

A couple of things:

Good to see that the reminder tone is now obeying the sound profile. However, the Spam tone isn't. Any chance of fixing that one?

If I send myself a text 'Me' in the address book, the reminder says "For: Melo" then 2 squares, then "(", then a square then "net.nz\SMSNotify 2004 V2\SMSNotify-ContactReminder.exe". (Also, shouldn't 'For' say 'From'?)

I'm also getting some strange characters after the name in the 'From:' line on the normal notification screen.

And finally, a feature request - can you add an option to filter by 'SMS Reminder On'?

Many thanks.

I have tried that, but nothing happens. No number pops up. Guess this means there's nothing to do?

A question #2: Is there a way to globally turn on the 'vibrate on sms' function? I haven't been able to find it.

I've been emailed it now, but I'm having problems getting it to use the profile tones?

If I select a tone in sms notify it will play that, but it dont vibrate and won't play the default tone in the global phone settings under sound?

Version 2.0 did it no problem, any ideas?

Can you expand further by what you mean profile tones?

when you have SMSNotify installed, it uses the default tone set within SMS notify for contacts that do not have a tone assigned to them. It does not use the SMS tone assigned within the device.

If you go into SMSNotify -> Options -> Settings -> Application Options.

Make sure that Show Msg Popup is ticked. This will popup a dialog on every SMS message.

If you have this set, and when you get a new voice mail message it does not appear, then I would say that your mobile provider has implemented their own hook somehow which is prohibiting SMSNotify from access to this message.

Actually I am looking for the complete opposite. I want all messages _except_ the ones informing me that I have new email to pop up. But since I can't find the sender ID, there is no way to make an exception for that :D

Anyway, the addition of a global vibrate-on plugin will be nice. Good news :D

Has anyone been able to get this to work on a Samsung i600 (Verizon). I would like to purchase and use this product but it will not install. I posted about this problem before and I was hoping that this new version would work.Ā

Old post here: http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=...59entry474159

Good news.

We are receiving a certificate for Mobile2Market devices and in the process of obtaining on for Verizon devices.

Once this is done it will work on those devices.

I will post when this is complete. Hoping for this to all be done in 1-2 weeks.

It is a high priority.

I will take this time to ask you, the consumers what new features you would like for SMSNotify 2004.

If there is something that you would like added, post it here or email [email protected] and we will consider for a future release.

As long as you dont mind upgrades we are more than happy to implement.

I don't know if it's just me, or if this problem is the same as mentioned before. But the program doesn't seem to "follow" the profiles selected. The sms tone is extremely loud even though I have turned it down in phonesettings. And when I select the vibrate profile, also in settings, it doesnt work..

The only function I need from the program, is a picture appearing when a message is recieved, and being able to read the message preview :-) The sounds and profiles I want to manage in the "normal" way.. is this not possible?

But I really like the program, it is the only one I actually paid for ;-)
