Sprite backup premium

recently purchased sprite baclup premium for my JAM thinking that it would work like Norton ghost where it would do a full restore to the state that you backed up like an image,But after Hard reseting my jam and clearing the storage and formatting the SD and then restored i found it didant restore it back fully  and didant restore my apps at all on the SD ,Is it meant to backup the sd as well?.

Does sprite backup do a full backup of the main memory /storage and SD ?

Also if i do a restore will it restore all the items in my add remove progrmas so i can remove programs manually,If you get what i mean,Thanks

So if i do a full format of the device including the MM/Storage and SD and then restore my sprite backup and copy over my full sd folder backup using my card reader, will it be exactly to the state that i backed it up,Thanks

i use Sprite extensively and it is simply the best backup product available

the trick is to set up correctly

first of all, under the options, select backup options and make sure you check next to 'create self executable file'............this means that in the event of a hard reset, then all you need to do is use file explorer to navigate to your sd folder and click on the sprite backup file..........if you do not check this option before backing up then all you have is a backup file that requires you reloading the sprite software back on first and then restoring from the sd file.........kind of defeats the object of a backup !!! plus, totally impractical when your stuck in the middle of nowhere without a pc !!!

also, set up scheduled backups......... i set mine to automatically backup every night at 11pm.........this way i am unlikely to need to use the phone for the 3-4 mins it takes to back up.........you can also have sprite limit the number of backups before overwriting......... i set this to maximum of 2 (days) as the files on my Jam are around 20mb and i think 2 days is enough !!!

hope this helps, it has got me out of many scrapes !!!

regards

Mark

should have said, it is exactly like norton ghost in that EVERY aspect of your Jam will be restored - email settings, connections, contacts.........even the home screen and ring tones !!!!

Q1 the premium edition backs up to pc but you can still also backup automatically to sd or storage as well.....i do both...the benefit to the pc backup if done daily is that if the sd fails you also have a backup on the pc....but then that starts the what if my pc fails debate!! paranoia!!

Q2 yes, the restore will also restore the gprs info and if you had the icon on your toolbar then it will restore that also.....bear in mind the gprs info will be from the time of the backup...therefore if that backup is a day old, then you will obviously not have the last 24 hrs worth of gprs usage saved....

hope this helps, pls ask if any more info needed!
