the latest update for orange uk is the version you already have. I would stick with that, I dont know of any benifits of the swiss rom over the uk one (the uk one's good!)

I managed to install the T9 file posted by ga!nusha, with a bit of registry editing as described here. It works like a charm. Beware though that using the few Romanian characters (sh, tz etc) means using unicode, and that limits the SMS capacity to 70 characters.

The phone should be application unlocked to succeed - well, I discovered this after I formatted my phone again today and I installed the Romanian T9 library using a cab I have built for this purpose.

If you want to build a cab file for your phone, here's my inf file, which you'll have to modify:

T9Installer.inf

[Version]

Signature="$Windows NT$"

Provider = "Tudor"

CESignature="$Windows CE$"

[CEStrings]

AppName="T9"

InstallDir="\Storage\Application Data\T9\"

[CEDevice]

VersionMin=4.00

VersionMax=4.99

[DefaultInstall]

CopyFiles=Files.Common

AddReg=RegSettings.All

[SourceDisksNames]

1=,"Common1",,"D:\Maintenance\Smartphone Applications\T9 Romanian\T9 Installer\"

[SourceDisksFiles]

T9RomanianLdb.dll=1

[DestinationDirs]

Files.Common=0,%InstallDir%

[Files.Common]

T9RomanianLdb.dll,,,0

[RegSettings.All]

HKLM,"T9 Input Method\MUI\Languages","Available",0x00000000,"0409,0418,0410,0407,040C,0413,0406,040A"

HKLM,"T9 Input Method\LDBs","0418",0x00000000,"\Storage\Application Data\T9\T9RomanianLdb.dll"
You need, of course, to change the paths accordingly to point to your files and, very important, change the "0409,0418,0410,0407,040C,0413,0406,040A" bit to reflect the languages you have installed on your phone. For this, check the registry value "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\T9 Input Method\MUI\Languages\Available", copy what's there and add the Romanian language ID, which is 0418. As you don't need to uninstall this, add the /nouninstall parameter when building the cab, so it doesn't put a "Remove program" entry. If you try to remove it, it would delete the registry entry with the available languages (at least I don't know how to build the cab in such a way that is wouldn't remove it!). Here's the batch file I've used:
BuildCab.bat

"C:\Program Files\Windows CE Tools\wce420\SMARTPHONE 2003\Tools\cabwizsp.exe" "D:\Maintenance\Smartphone Applications\T9 Romanian\T9 Installer\T9Installer.inf" /dest "D:\Maintenance\Smartphone Applications\T9 Romanian\T9 Installer" /err CabWiz.SMP.log /nouninstall /cpu ARMV4

If you're not familiar with building the cab files, tell me what languages you have on the phone for T9 (or the value of "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\T9 Input Method\MUI\Languages\Available") and I can build the cab for you.

I hope this helps.

Tudor

You shouldn't have any problem with the SIM card.

If you don't have the screen flicker issue with some games, it's not worth the trouble. If you have it, maybe it is. Anyway, to install the T9 for Romanian, you need to app unlock the phone. Did you e-mail Orange UK about it? Any progress?

Another thing to consider is that installing the T9 dll will not allow you to have the menus in Romanian.

i don't have the menu in romanian...cuz it's faulty... it has mixed up some settings (in romanian:the word "on" is set for setting it to off) and other stuff like that...

i have another problem with this version... check out the LINK ... it's pissing me off

i sent the email to orange romania.... but no answer... guess i'll go to email the uk... :roll:

  • 4 weeks later...

I was thinking if somebody could help me...

I've already gone through the steps suggested to add a new T9 language to my SPV C500 - in my case it's portuguese - but it doesn't seem to work... I mean, it does appear at my T9 languages listing (when editing text) but when I change it, the keys just don't work. No text can be entered at all...

What have I done wrong?...

I would really appreciate if someone could come up with a CAB for me...

Thank you!

:lol: I have exactly the same problem.

I have an Orange spv c500, stored the t9portugueseldb.dll in :

\storage\application data\t9,

made the right changes in the registry (I do think !) but can't write anything, the keyboard doesn't work although portuguese appears in the list of available t9 languages.

socorro !

Please install this ONLY if you have SPV C500 from Orange UK. Otherwise PM me with the list of languages you have on the phone.

T9Portuguese.ARMV4.CAB

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

well,

the list of languages is today (after installing portuguese) :

0409, 0410, 0407, 040C, 0413, 0816, 040A

previously 0406 was on the phone (a french orange spv c500).

I deleted 0406 but I noticed that after each reset, the value 0406 re.appears in the list HKLM\t9 input method\LDBs, WITH the new one (0816 portuguese) at the bottom.

Do we have to change the value HKLM\MUI\available, adding 0816 Portuguese ?

Thanks a lot !

Try 0416 instead of 0816. It seems that the T9 dll is for "Portuguese - Brazil". No idea on how different the two languages are, but I've tested the cab in my previous post on my C500 and it works.

If you want a cab for yours, let me know.

EDIT: Don't delete anything - just add yours.

the difference between portuguese and brazilian portuguese is not important.
