bluetooth transfer

Hi, I happened to notice that my MPx220 wouldn't receive the file that's bigger than 1MB. It said it received it, but I checked My Documents, it wasn't there. I also checked My Documents/FTP, but same thing, it's not there.

Has anyone experienced it? is there any way I can accept transfer that's bigger than 1MB? Maybe even a 3rd party software?

Thanks.

I've seen similar things using Activesync. It's irregular, and sometimes the files seem to vanish after being installed. Might be my/your SD card. I'm getting vibes that SanDisk is not the way to go.

I had the same problem, but have solved it now.

It depends on the kind of way you transfer the files. When you install a BT-stick and use the integrated option to send and/or receive files, 'large' files will disappear. Even though your MPX220 will ask you if you want to accept file *****, it wil not store it on the phone. It just vanishes.

When you install BT-FTP software included with your BT-stick, you can set-up a BT-FTP connection to your phone. Large files transfered this way WILL be stored in the FTP directory on your phone.

I prefer to use ActiveSync over BT. Connect my phone, click the 'Explore'-option and copy my files to any place I like (preferably the storage-card). Had a lot of trouble connecting ActiveSync over BT. If you have the same problems, just tell me and I'll explain how to set-up a BT-ActiveSync connection.

Regards!

hi there,

actually I"m more interested on setting up BT-FTP if you don't mind. The thing is I don't use Windows (I use Mac OS X with built-in BT), so I can't really use ActiveSync. However I always transfer files using BT from my laptop to my MPx 220. So what do I need to configure so that my MPx 220 would receive big files (such as mp3s, movies, etc) ?

Thanks in advance

Hello.

I'm want to know as well what to configure, maybe in the registry, to receive big files larger than 1MB.

My problem is, i cant receive files sent by other BT phones. And i think the problem

is the storage RAM, it is only 1.4 MB in size and only 54% free. I have that System Info program by Motorola where you can see very well how that storage ram is used while receiving files via BT. So a way to store directly to a memory card would be nice. It is possible?. If yes, how ?

Kalip, I don't think it's because of the storage card though because I have a 256MB mini sd card. I just think it's the operating system that limits us to receive file larger than 1MB. And yea, it would be great if we can receive files larger than 1MB from other BT devices (phones, laptop, etc)

is it possible that you need to actually upgrade with your service provider? that might be what you need instead of needing to do something yourself.

I doubt that bluetooth transfer has anything to do with the service provider. The service provider doesn't care about bluetooth service. It depends on your phone. So if your phone doesn't support bluetooth, then you can't use bluetooth. I don't think it has anything to do with the service provider.

Sorry for the late reaction. Busy week at work.

Setting up a BT-FTP connection is only possible when your BT stick comes with this kind of software. I've tried several BT-sticks now and half of them didn't have any (FTP)software at all. The ones that did have this software, were easy to install. Don't know if this software included drivers, etc. for Mac OS though.

Yea, transfering files to or from phone via ActiveSync is no problem for me as well. But transfering files from another phone.. there is the problem. Large files actually, so if someone send me an video or mp3 file larger than 2 or 3MB, the phone is asking to save it but it is vanished then.

Ahh, didn't see you mention that before. Is it possible that the phone that is sending the data to you is at fault?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Hmm no, i dont think so. 2 mates can send to each other that large file, if they sending to me, its the problem i mentioned above. BTW, the guys have a Nokia 6230 i think.
