Dear SmartPhone Users,

There is a new Beta version of PocketDOS for SmartPhones (SmartPhone 2002 & SmartPhone 2003) available.

This version is almost ready, but we would like to hear any feedback which you are able to provide on this version before we finalise it. We expect to release the finalised version of PocketDOS for SmartPhones within the next week. Currently the only (planned) functionality which is not present in this version is an extra key input mode which will allow the remapping of keypad keys to specific PC/XT keyboard keys.

This version can be downloaded from:

Smartphone 2002:

http://www.pocketdos.com/PocketDOS/PocketD...k2_110_Beta.exe

Smartphone 2003:

http://www.pocketdos.com/PocketDOS/PocketD...k3_110_Beta.exe

and should be installed from a desktop PC with Microsoft ActiveSync.

If possible, please provide feedback in the thread dedicated to this topic on our forum:

http://forums.pocketpcfaq.com/viewtopic.php?t=15673

Thank you for your interest.

How fast does PocketDOS run? You think a emulator like nes (nesticle) would be able to run under pocketdos?

Hmm I cant get it to work, to install to be more specific

Dear Sir,

It would be helpful if you provided us with some information as to the difficulties you are experiencing. Specifically, a list of the steps you performed and the exact text of any error messages that you receive. It would also be useful if you provided as much information as possible about your device (ie. make/model, OS version etc.).

Thank you for your input.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Dear Sir,

PocketDOS peforms at roughly the same speed as a 10Mhz 80286 or a 20Mhz 8086 when running on a 200Mhz OMAP processor (as found in the HTC Typhoon aka. SPV-C500, SMT-5600 etc.).

It is unlikely that running any emulator under another emulator on any platform will provide satisfactory results, but the best way to find out would be to try it...

Thank you for your interest.

I can't provide detailed information because I didn't do anything special.

I have just downloaded the .exe from the link you wrote down. When I double click on it i'm getting a screen with the option to setup, when I do that nothing happens. (where normally I get the add/remove programs screen of acive sync)

When I unpack the file and click pocketdos_setup there im getting some kind of alert like: "missing ppcload.dll"

Or am I supposed to run the setup from my smartphone?

Dear Sir,

Which version of ActiveSync are you using? PPCLoad.dll is part of ActiveSync.

Thank you for your input.

Dear SmartPhone Users,

We have updated the Beta to include the previously missing functionality - ie. the option to set custom key mappings. This can be set up from the "Settings->Keyboard->Custom" menu item in PocketDOS or by using the SETKEY utility. The custom key mappings can be used by cycling through to the "Custom" input mode.

This Beta also includes fixes for:

1) Missing DLL on SP2002

2) Lockup during start at "Configuring Communication ports"

3) Demo "countdown" being repeated continuously

Thank you for your interest.

I tried adding the BOCHs FPU/CPU dll file in the same directory as the DOSBOX executable. But in the System Configuration it only says .

I am running it on SPV c500.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Dear Sir,

PocketDOS will try to load any CPU plug-in DLLs with the names PDOS*CPU.DLL & PDOS*FPU.DLL (where * is a wild card) that are found in the same directory as PocketDOS.exe when you open the "Settings->System->CPU/FPU" item. If it is not able to load the DLLs (possibly because of a security or memory problem), then the plug-ins will not been shown even though they are in the correct directory.

Thank you for your interest.

Great application, but.... :

I'm having these problems, running it on my mpx200/wm2003:

1) I get "0" (zero) for input when I use the softbuttons.(can't get into the menu...)

2) The back-button doesn't work.

3) Neither does the Home button...

Also when I type 'EXIT' it dousn't exit...I have to reset my phone...

[edit]I just noticed I should type 'EXITDOS', but I can't see the whole screen on the right side...[/edit]

hope this will get fixed

adios,

Hans ;)

PS: I also had the problem of a missing 'ppcload.dll'

I'm using activesync 4.0.

I had to download the DLL to get it working...

I'm running it on an SPV C500 with WM2003 SE 4.1.1.4

Dear Sir,

Please download the latest Beta (just updated), the link was not updated correctly (for the landscape mode beta), but it has been now. Please let us know if you still have problems with the new version.

Where did you download ActiveSync 4.0 from? Where did you find the missing DLL? The latest supported version of ActiveSync is 3.8. Using unreleased versions is not recommended or supported.

Thank you for your interest.

Dear Sir,

Due to limitations in the DOS and Windows CE operating systems, it is only possible for PocketDOS to "see" file and directory names that conform to the DOS 8.3 naming convention. You can map a drive letter to any folder (including a folder with a long name) from the "Drives" menu in PocketDOS, or by using the SETDRIVE command from the DOS prompt.

Thank you for your interest.

Dear SmartPhone Users,

We have updated the Beta to support a rotated (landscape) display. Landscape mode can be set from the "Settings->Display->Orientation" menu item in PocketDOS, or by using the SETSCRN command from the DOS prompt.

This Beta also includes fixes for:

1) Timer related issues.

2) Several GUI bugs.

This version can be downloaded from:

Smartphone 2002:

http://www.pocketdos.com/PocketDOS/PocketD...k2_110_Beta.exe

Smartphone 2003:

http://www.pocketdos.com/PocketDOS/PocketD...k3_110_Beta.exe

and should be installed from a desktop PC with Microsoft ActiveSync.

Update:

When this posting was made originally, the incorrect versions of PocketDOS were linked. This has been corrected, so you should download this version again if you are still having GUI issues or the Landscape mode is not available.

If possible, please provide feedback in the thread dedicated to this topic on our forum:

Thank you for your interest.

You can find DLL files at http://www.dll-files.com

And activesync 4.0 is availible at http://msdn.microsoft.com/mobility/windows...ds/default.aspx

scroll down a bit and click 'ActiveSync 4.0 Developer Preview'

from now on I will post at your forum!
