I'm suprised that no one has figured this out yet but, YOU CAN UNLOCK SMT 5600 with SPV Services app for free. I've unlocked four SMT5600 so far with no issues. All you have to do is:

1) Find on the net No Warez and resetsecurity.zip. Read the "readme" and used them as instructed (reset security does not have instructions just run it on the device)... You might not have to use both but this always worked for me

2) This will app unlock your device, and some more (i'm not sure how this helps but running the both worked for me all the time) then reboot

3) Use the SPV services (C500 unlock tool) as directed, vola.. :)

Now you have a SMT 5600 Sim-unlocked...

Enjoy...

This worked on my phone too. I have an AT&T Wireless SIM in my phone and ran the tool as directed. I then went over to a co-worker who had a Cingular 64K SmartSIM and borrowed his SIM. Put it in, booted the phone and it started up fine with my homescreen and everything. Nice tip.

Ships passing in the dark!

I expounded on Cyberdim's post on the first SPV-Developers' thread and, most recently, on a Modaco thread here:

http://www.modaco.com/Possible_to_SPV_Deve...0l-t222918.html

People can use either thread. However the one I started more recently has useful links and a few other notes. If you choose to search for these programs on your own, be aware that you are looking for "aeconfig_.zip", except without the underscore in between. Apparently Modaco doesn't like to see the first eight letters, and changes them to "No Warez" if followed by a space or .zip!

I read somewhere in spv-developers that this sim unlock tool also works on the C550, so for those who has a locked C550 give it a try. :)

Hi all, I've been trying to sim unlock my SMT 5600. I have app unlocked the phone, but I just can't seem to find a copy of SPV services/C500 unlock tool. Can someone direct me to the right place or email it to me? Thank you very much!

Technically No, SIM-Unlock process do not touch your data but a backup never hurts :)

Hmmm interesting… :-k The software (SPVServices) is for Typhoon variants and the instructions on this topic specifically for how to SIM-unlock North American typhoons (ATT or Cingular), but the method I used to get privileges might apply to SDA too. I’d say give it a try. If the scripts/apps mentioned in the post not able to de-certify the phone, SPVServices will fail anyway (gracefully). So trying wouldn’t hurt. We might have found something here that unlocks all typhoon variants, wouldn’t that be great… :cheesy:
