My battery last 'forever' compared with the E200 I've just shelved.

I have always relied on audible prompts to notify me of incoming messages/appointments etc and have never felt the need for a constantly on screen. If I had done that with my old 200, I'd have needed to charge it every few hours :)

So when you pull the phone out of your pocket in a noisy environment, or if you've left it on your desk or in another room or if its on "dead quite" (one of my profiles for meetings with no vib), you have to keep turning the screen on to check for emails etc instead of simply glancing at your phone.

At the end of the day we all have different requirements. You choose one option and I choose another. The fact of the matter is, if the option to leave the screen on is an option within the the phone's O/S and I elect to use it, the phone should not go from 100% to zero battery in 10 hours when it is supposed to last on standby for "6 days" (144 hours). That's about as much use as a chocolate fire guard.

In fairness the E100/200 (which I've also had) are completely different beasts and should not be compared to the C500/550 in terms of battery life.

Yup, it's on for 30 seconds, then off again. It seems to work for me.

The 550's screen if practically invisible without the backlight anyway so unless I use a torch or try to get sunlight through the glazing......

Roll on OLED screens :)

My battery seems to last forever if I leave the phone on the shelf and not touch it, but as soon as I do anything it runs down incredibly fast, a 10 minute phone call ran it down 30%!! Surely that can't be right.

Whats the point in having a phone if you aren't going to use it? That defeats the whole point.

I'm not really using my C550 anymore (prefer my qtek 8100) :)
Last night my C550 battery was showing as 36%, I listened to about 15 minutes of music, checked my battery level again, and it was 2%

So basically, I don't think the C550 always reports an accurate battery level, as well as suffering from a perfectly respectable battery life on stand-by, UNTIL you actually use the phone, and then it dies very quickly :?:

when you play video or music do any of you lose 2% straight away?
i fully charged it last night and quickly listened to music for 1 min then watch a vid for 4 mins then it went from 99 to 97.
OMG i just checked now its 95.... ITS LIKE IM LOSING 2% EVERY 5 MINS.

Alrite i came back and the theory on my c550 is whenever i use it...... i lose like 2% everytime...

Plus only charging up to 99% could my battery be faulty?

I think you may be reading a little too much into the accuracy of the battery meter.

I can charge to 100%, but that I think the phone is very innacurate in reporting the battery level, and as far as I'm aware the battery monitor on this site relies on the phones reporting.

My phone was on 33%, I switched it off then straight back on again and it reported 40%, a major bug I think.

well the bar went to 3 after 2 hrs which tells me comparing it with all your spvc550s mines faulty i guess.
So i phoned onestophponeshop and they said they will send a new headset and would pick up my faulty spv so thats pretty helpful coming the next day.

*Crosses fingers* hope this one isnt faulty or any other problems... otherwise a 3rd headset is needed...

LOL, Good luck. I'm still waiting for the Bluetooth headset from them that I ordered with the phone 3 weeks ago! They have a habit of telling you whatever will get you off the phone the quickest, even when if it completely contradicts an email they sent you or common sense.

I do hope that they sort your problem out though, I just wouldn't hold your breath.

ok, as im the self appointed battery expert, i thought i would have a look at this

if you have the screen timeout set to never, the battery sucks donkeyballs

if you have it turned off you get (going from a random version of my award nominated battery monitor) 10% less standby than the c500 and 1% more 'in use' time (calls/gprs/backlight on/doing stuff)

im taking this from the 4 hours i've been running the app for, which includes showing it off down the pub (started at 74% currently at 68%, and i didn't charge it last night either:P)

so, a quick suming up, the screen will kill the battery, so have the screen timeout the same as the backlight time out and start enjoying the phone

. . . . You can on the C500 and the battery still lasts for days.

Personally I think somebody made a boo boo.

Enjoy the drink and have one for me!

ok, did some quick and dirty tests on this

you can almost, just about, if you have the screen and lighting at the right angle see whats on the screen with the backlight off

the difference between the c550 and the c500 is: the c500 screen is polarised verticly and the c550 screen is horizontaly, this is on viewing angle (the 550 colours look good from most side angles, the c500 looks good from top to bottom)

to my eyes, the c550 screen has blueyer whites, to a pinkyer white on the c500, and a greenyer screen on the e100 (my e200 needs a charge and im lazy) but that might all be due to age of tft or some such nonsense

and smack my ass and call me sally if im wrong, but dont all tft/colour lcd screens suck if they dont have the back/front/side lighting on?
