Re-Map the C550 Buttons

I'm not sure about your question... but I personally wish the music buttons were where the home/back buttons are and vice versa. I know I use the back key all the time and find it a bit small to be honest.

I'd have thought it'd be in the registry somewhere as the music player button can be toggled between Windows Media and the Orange player thingy in the settings. May just be a question of digging through it.

I've tried to map these buttons in both PocketMusic and Betaplayer. In both cases, as soon as any button is pressed the device opens WMP regardless. Betaplayer does log <#B3> when I map the button and does play/pause, but WMP still opens anyway. The other buttons refuse to be mapped at all. I reckon a registry hack might do the trick, but the obvious preference is for any player installed to appear in the drop-down menu.

I have been monitoring the registry to see what changes when changing from wmplayer to the orange music player, and it's only the following:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keyboard]

"ChaoticomPlayerEnable"=dword:000000001

Check lots of system files as well, and could not find any configuration tied to it. Weird, it looks like it might be hardcoded in the rom :cry:

Yep, I have to admit to being confused by them now. Why have two buttons that in all situations, and forever long you hold them, perform exactly the same function?

I may dig out the manual and see if there's anything in there that suggests what the difference between them may be.

Knowing that they both do the same function in all practical and so far tested situations makes it even more appealing to be able to map one of the duplicates to another function/app.

I thought the music note button took you to the Media Library ? and the play/pause did the obvious.

Perhaps if you have no song/podcast currently loaded then the Play/Pause button would take you to the Media Library as it had nothing to resume ?

There is a menu option within WMP or words to that effect so it always opens at the Library page. I have found that if WMP is already running in the background, this doesn't function and it opens at the Now Playing page instead, with and indeed performing the same function.

Nope the music note button opens the music player (just as the play/pause button does). Clicking it one the player is open pauses the music (just as the play/pause button does).

On the QTEK 8100, one of the buttons is mapped to internet explorer.
