Strange problem with incoming calls

I bought my Qtek 8010 three weeks ago. I really loved this phone till I figured out it behaves quite strange sometimes. One day I was waiting for a call from a friend of mine but didn’t receive any. I called him later in the evening and found out he tried to contact me more than sixteen times. I had no missed call displayed but for the opposite side it seemed as I wouldn’t want to pickup the phone (phone was ringing till he didn’t end the call). Similar situation occurred few times again later and I figure out some symptoms. When the phone is in this state and I try to make a call, there’s no sound in the earphone and there’s no way how to end this call. Then after few seconds phone hangs. After all it seems this state is started by an incoming call.

I tried to upgrade to newest Qtek firmware (2.2.32.11) but it didn’t help. Yesterday same problem appeared again. It’s really annoying because for the opposite side it seems as I ignore him and I have no chance to find out who called me. I’m thinking about claming the phone but I had one similar experience with a phone before. When they didn’t see the problem right away they won’t do anything and return the phone as working :?:

I'm guessing the best you can do is make a log of exactly what times and what calls were missed, and when the problem occured.

It might not help your case physically, but it shows them you're not just after a new phone, and harder to dismiss with "evidence"?

I'm afraid this won't help me. They will flash latest firmware and return the phone with statement that problem didn't appeared while it was in test :)

I think I have the same problem as the TS.

At first with my SPV C500 (newest Orange ROM) and now with my SDA (newest Qtek rom).

Problem:

At sometimes I am not able to place calls and I can not be called. (receiption is good!)

As I place a call the normal "Tssssss" will not apear and the screens goes in a sec. to 0:00 instead of going to calling ...

The only sollution is rebooting or going in-out Flightmode.

Analyse:

It happens on both of my phones. Sometimes twice a day, sometimes one a week!

Maybe it has something to do with the networkprovider, I'm using Telfort (Netherlands).

My phone is unlocked by SPV-services...

What is the TS using as Networkprovider? Did you unlock it?

I'm using T-Mobile (Czech). Does the Telfort sell this phone? T-Mobile doesn’t here.

Luckily that problem didn't happen to me for more than two weeks now.

I had exactly the same problem after 4 months I almost threw away the phone. I have unlocked the phone throug the famous internet site a 30 euro and application unlocked it.

Maybe you guys did that too?

I ve returned the phone to the orange store and they did a software upgrade!

There were sure that was the problem?

They returned my phone this week, hope it will work for longer this time than 4 months grrrrrr

Glad to hear im not the only one with this annoying problem!

My phone wasn't sim locked.

In my opinion this problem will be more provider related. As I have read few days ago Orange has quite big problems with SPV C500 in France and Slovakia. Users weren't able to use gprs connection, receive mms messages and finally even send sms messages for few days. They even stop to sell this phone for a while in Slovakia.

Similar problem appeared in Czech Republic two weeks ago. MPx200 equipped with sim card from T-Mobile wasn't able to connect to the internet for few days. Strange.

When I try to analyse (it happened 3x this night!!! ) it occurs after signal-loss. The signal is back (minutes later) and the reception is good. But the phone will not call / or receive calls.

The strange thing is that it not always happen after signal loss, example when I go in to an tunnel and come out of it never happened! :??:

strange.....

Yesterday I returned the phone because problem happened again. After 45 min duscussing in the orange shop they promised me a new one. they were sure that it happened because of my sim unlocking??? It changed the software hmmmm. And the said my garantue wasn't valid anymore because of the unlocking. Anyway how can it be the unlocking if it worked perfect for 4 months I asked them, ofcourse no answer. Ehhh you must do a software upgrade was the next comment, it is a software problem. After I told him that that thing just came back from a orange software upgrade, he blinked twice and than said. The upgrade will only work on a phone with original orange software????!!

Maybe you guys can answer the following questions:

Did you sim unlock the phone? Yes the internet 30 Euro service

What provider do you use? Telfort NL I saw somebody else had them too??

Did you application unlock the software? Yes

With what? Think something of this site No Warez.exe

What software did you install? Tomtom mobile, BtToggle, Repligo, Newsbreak, Smartfilter, stopwatch. after a hard reset only tomtom and bttoggler, but still problems.

Maybe we can find similarities?

just spoke to someone with a m500 he had exactly the same problem.

He fixed it with a ROM update. Havent had that problem no more!

Beware I don't think the waranty still is valid on the new rom so do this only if you really have a problem and don't have warranty anymore.

I returned my phone and got a new c500 in return, sim unlocked it today with the free solution hopefully no more incoming call problems for me.

Good Luck!!

Same problem on the new phone after 1 day!

2 phones with the same problem-> must be a software bug because my 02 sim card works perfectly in other phones.

Someone said the problem occured after a signal lost. After a signal lost the phone searches the network again.right?

Then I started thinking maybe the stupid thing connects to the wrong network?

I took a look at the network settings and found out my orange spv c500 had a lot of preffered networks (start-4-1-5 menu 3), I deleted all except O2 (my provider) and changed the network selection to manual start-4-1-5.

Done this on saterday morning till now no single problem what so ever?

Hope this will work for you guys too It's worth trying, if the problem occurs again i'm putting a different rom but so far so good.

I've been exactly the same problems after Orange activated the roaming feature on my phone. Since then I've flashed to the c500 to the latest ROM on the Orange website but haven't tried changing the network settings.

Did you sim unlock the phone? Nope

What provider do you use? Orange UK

Did you application unlock the software? Yes

With what? Orange developer thingy on the orange website.

What software did you install? Lots but I changed ROM and the problem was still happening!

[EDIT]

I've done the manual network selection as suggested and I still have the problem of disconnecting from the network and not receiving calls even though I'm connected?! - You mention that you delete networks not required - How did you delete them, there doesn't appear to be an option, only a tick box to select/deselect the preferred networks.

I can get to the prefered networks page and I have the following:

[x] Orange

[ ] Vodafone

[ ] T-Mobile

[ ] O2

All I can do is tick or untick the boxes with no option to delete the other networks, unless this is what you mean by delete - if so I've just left the Orange networked ticked (and network selection on manual) and I still have problems receiving calls and connecting the network :?:

Yep unchecked = delete , I unchecked all other and moved O2 to the top.

Too bad it doesn't work, dammit this means that maybe the problem will return on my phone too.

Well only one thing left to do then return it to the store or change the rom. :|

I just off the phone with Orange technical support and after about 1hr of tests, hard resets, ROM downgrades they decided that the problem was most likely to be with the handset so they're arranging to send out a replacement!

I experience exactly the same troubles with all the HTC originated phones I had with the Telfort NL network. I sim-unlocked al these phones. I had a spv e200, spv c500 and a qtek 8020.

Hopefully someone will find a solution for this.

One other problem i have is that the buttons are weak. With my spv c500 the &,0 and # stopped functioning after a while, with my qtek 8020 my scroll down button stopped working..... DAMN

I'm starting to think that it has to do something with the telfort/02 sim card? Are therre differences in sim cards??

And then specifically between orange sim cards and others?

I finally figured it out!!!

It's a problem with the o2/telfort network, I found a lot of information regarding this problem and it seems that a lot of people with Smartphones/HTC phones/Treo in combination with telfort have this problem!!

Changing sim card didn't help most people so I think i'm going to end my contract with telfort!!

Maybe it is because telfort is now joined with Kpn en have dual dim option (both 1800 mhz and 900 mhz network)

For dutch people take a look at this link!

http://www.pocketpc-club.nl/forum/archive/...hp/t-47211.html

English people find a translator haha

Hope this will help all of ya
