Hi All,

I took delivery of my new C550 today and have spent most of the day getting my head around it :)

Im just wondering if its possible to change the names and URL's of the links that appear in the Orange world shortcut on the homescreen?

menu.jpg

Id really like to change the Orange world, Info, Fun, Tools and Your page into a sort of quick access favourites type thing.

Ive spent a good couple of hours scouring the forums for any info but alas i couldnt find anything. I have however managed to SIM unlock my phone without breaking it :shock:

If it is 'do-able' please be gentle as im very new to the MS phone thing.

Thanks in advance.

Dave.

Yes it is. You need to have your C550 application unlocked and copy the \Windows\OrangeHomescreen.home.xml file from the device to your pc. You then need to edit the following in the xml

Url_0 ="http://wap.orange.co.uk/"

Url_1 ="http://wap.orange.co.uk/r/spvc550/info/"

Url_2 ="http://wap.orange.co.uk/r/spvc550/fun/"

Url_3 ="http://wap.orange.co.uk/r/spvc550/tools/"

Url_4 ="http://wap.orange.co.uk/r/spvc550/yourpage/"

These urls can be any url you want, if you want to start a program then change http:// for file:// and put in the path to the program.

You also need to change the following section to correspond with you changed urls, Opt_5_0 relates to Url_0 etc.

Opt_5_0 ="Orange World"

Opt_5_1 ="Info"

Opt_5_2 ="Fun"

Opt_5_3 ="Tools"

Opt_5_4 ="Your Page"

Finally, change the

Orange to anything you want eg Orange2 and save the file. I would rename the file eg Orange2Homescreen.home.xml and copy it to the \Storage\Application Data\Home folder on your C550. Then you just need to select the Orange2 (or whatever) as your homescreen.

You cannot as it uses a plugin which is embedded in orange ROMs only, and you won't be able to copy it across I'm afraid.

ok i think im being a little n00b-ish here.. but can someone help me with the format of the file link? i think maybe i'm sort of starting in the wrong place.. the file im trying to run is

mobile device --> My Smartphone --> Storage Card --> My Documents --> BTToggle.exe

..so i editted like so:

Url_0 ="file://Storage Card/My Documents/BTToggle.exe"

and whatever combination of / and \ i use i get alert this url is not properly formatted etc.. when i push ok the file name is partially obscured in the address bar but begins file://\\Storage Card\..

so basically if someone could help me i would be eternally grateful

(ps. excemellent site, as a new smartphone user browsing these forums has saved many a headache, keep up the good work)

I am not 100% sure but are't you suppose to use %20 between storage and card to give space between words? Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip. It worked. Is there anyway to change the other programs on Orange HS? For example, instead of Calendar, may be Papyrus or so on?

Thanks

yes, amongst the excitement of fixing it (yey!) i forgot to thank various people for putting this together.. worked a treat after replacing all the spaces with ''%20''

As for changing other things on the homescreen, i dont really know. but on this site http://www.gpcarreon.com/?p=16 (thanks to pzee for pointing me there) it seems to have been done so it must be possible. how? no idea, someone must know..
